    I'm really amazed considering this hardware of 1990s. Really, Amiga was way ahead of all other computers.

      @madigorfkgoogle9349 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Amiga was a dead end since day one, it was as limited as a game console hardware can be. BTW PC had two gen more advanced graphics in 90s...

      I don't agree that amiga was ahead of anything, but the fact that the black lotus can squeeze this demo out of an m68000 is really a testament to what incredible coders TBL have.

      @@ManOnBrokenHorse You kidding right? I mean Im not telling the Starstruck demo is not great, but it is not running on MC68000 at all, it is not running on any Amiga hardware actually, you need a "accelerator" card with 68060 CPU and at least 64MB RAM. Given the fact that 68060 was competing with Pentium, suddenly the demo is not as impressive as you initially claim.

    All Amigas can be upgraded! Its been its policy since Amiga 1000 came out. So either its 060, 040, 030 or even PPC inside an Amiga. It is still an Amiga. In fact, Amiga is the most upgradeable computer ever made! Yes you can upgrade an A1200 with PCI slots and USB ports etc. You can get DVI output with Indivision AGA mk2 also! Amiga is the best computer ever released!

    • @SEngelsg
      @SEngelsg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      While I do agree that Amiga is the best computer ever released your logic implies that if a standard pc runs an Amiga emulator it is by definition an Amiga. Amiga for me is the motorola MC680x0, the custom hardware and above all: exec.library.

    • @MrTruth111
      @MrTruth111 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      So true Michal, but Amiga suffered the most terrible marketing and management department EVER. the CEO's lacked vision and didn't rely on the incredible knowhow and potential the business had. The engineers worked 100 hours per week for a crappy salary. The marketing team, if hired by KFC would come up with 'Warm Dead Bird' as their best shot for a slogan.

    • @alpyre
      @alpyre 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Svein:
      Now your logic implies the same thing... exec.library is working on the emulated MC680x0 and custom chips on the Amiga emulator just as so. ;)

    I love the way how some people downplay some of the latest Amiga games/demos saying "it's not really the Amiga doing this but upgraded cpu, memory expansion" or what ever... Serious Amiga users ALWAYS have/had accelerators and memory expansions in their machines. Some even PowerPC cpus and 3D accelerators. PC users upgrade their machines all the time, so why Amiga users should be any different? Or are all today's technical marvels on PCs all fake because creators didn't stick with 80s technology but upgraded to faster hardware? "It's not really the PC doing this but faster CPU and new 3D accelerator..." - you know how silly that would sound. Claiming that this is not a real Amiga demo due to the same reasons sounds as silly. Talking about 3D acceleration by the way... This demo is running without *ANY* 3D acceleration hardware!

    • @SerBallister
      @SerBallister 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most of us didn't run 060s when these demos were released, back in the day most of us would watch these demos at crappy frame rates on our average 030 expansion cards, if we were lucky :)
      PCs in the mid 90s started to make the Amiga look poor when both machines were moving towards 3d software rasterising.

    • @yohkom.7988
      @yohkom.7988 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The thing is, we want to see what some *specific hardwares* can do, not stuff upgraded/customized because huge part of the interest in demos is to work within specific hardware setup and see what some wizards can pull off in such restrictions. Otherwise it's not the same fun at all.
      And when doing so, this is also a good way to compare what different hardwares can achieve.
      Personally, as cool as the demo here is, once I realized that this is not standard A1200 (apparently it requires at least an upgraded CPU), I kinda lost interest.
      One of, if not THE most hyped demo in recent time is Overdrive II by Titan, a Sega Mega Drive demo, which is highly impressive and highly entertaining because it pushes further the boundaries of what everyone thought doable on the system.

    • @Sephnroth
      @Sephnroth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@yohkom.7988 but this *is* specific hardware. These demos are still right down to the metal and hitting the custom amiga chips. Yes, demo's like these require the 0x60 cpu chips, but as ridiculously expensive as they were they were not unheard of in the day. It's still original amiga hardware in that sense, an upgrade of an existing thing to a faster version of /the same thing/. It's not like it replaces the cpu with a pentium! This is legit amiga stuff. Hell, depending which amiga you bought (500, 1200, A300, whatevs) you may of had a x00, an 020 or an 030 - rich people an 060 from the start! It's all good.

      I had the Cyberstomr PPC 604e and Cybervision PPC in my A4000 (tower modded and with a PCI board that I never made use of..) back then. I also made most of my friends buy AGA machines and at least an 68030 or sometimes PPC 603e card. So I also see this hardware as a 'normal' thing that's legit Amiga Hardware. But I see a problem otherwise: There's an intense lack of software actually making good use of that hardware. From all I have seen over the years, I am pretty disappointed, as I expected way more then I have seen, yet, even of an 68060 + AGA. Maybe it's just a subjective thing, but compared to what an OCS/ECS Amiga with 7,09MHz 68k can achieve, anything using better hardware seems like - 'meh!'. Probably it's just too hard to make good use of that complex hardware combination, opposed to the C64, where people still achieve awesome, astonishing things until todays. I haven't had such a moment on the Amiga since the Odyssey demo from Alcatraz. I think it would require a professional and experienced team like Factor 5 or DMA design where back then, for the original hardware, to make good use of the 68060/PPC solutions - but sadly never existed.

    I was in many Amiga demo competitions and although this demo is great, it's not that technically difficult with fast hardware like this was obviously made for. Firstly, most of the 3D stuff was in chunky, which makes it much easier to do especially when your 060 can do the c2p quite easily. Personally, for something technically amazing (albeit much later, Rink A Dink - Redux or Andromeda's Nexus 7 are technically far superior)

    • @SerBallister
