nice video, 1 question: frankly how are the vibrations on the rc 390 for daily commuting as compared to the r15 as I am thinking of an upgrade from my r15 v2.

10 things it needs:
1. more decals/fairings/mods/different colours
2. More comfortable seat
3. Better stock exhaust
4. Belly pan
5. Better suspension
6. Better brakes
7. Rear /tail tidy
8. Nicer headlights - demon eye shape (like the ninja 300)
9. Nicer looking looking rear fender
10. Fix mechanical issues such as loose parts, cheap parts, any problems ktm riders have experienced, etc...
And i'd personally prefer a dash with both analogue tach/speedo & digital screen which shows oil levels, bike settings, etc
Thankfully in South Africa we only have to put number plates on the back

Nice video man, my rc390 has most of the issues you mentioned, as a matter of fact my engine blew at 1200 miles a couple of weeks back and ktm is a pain when it comes to warranty. Have you had any warranty issues yet?
+Garrett Chapman fortunately I only had 1 issue where the radiator fan decided to quit on me. The bike overheated several times before I could reach the nearest service center. They didn't make a fuss about it though and replaced it immediately.
Hi once you get the Stomp grips do update about the price and Source from where you have ordered. I also face the same problem of Holding the tank with my knees. Looking forward to hear from you on this.

I agree with the scrapping of belly panel and tire hugger. But what I hate about it is the vibrations (obvious being a single cyl and long stroke), puny tank, and exhaust sound is not the something you could say cool.
Hey Oggy, for the front number plate, you could try removing it all together and having a neat sticker designed on the bottom half of the visor/fairing. We checked with some RTO cops, and it's legal. Just make sure the numbers are big enough to be seen from a distance.

That battery cover is a bear to get back on sometimes!
My fuel hole is much bigger than that. That's weird.
We don't get that rear wheel guard over here in the states.

You can replace the rear seat with a cowl that would be easy to mount a suction mount.
The 1st point you putted about dust on visor probably I also hate ......anyways is it safe to open and do it ourself ???????
I felt the only thing to hate abut KTM RC 390 was the point you mentioned in the last THE REAR MUD GUARD, not really required. But, yes i agree it serves it's purpose.. Thumbs Upp, nice one.. : )

@Oggy F: You should get a tail tidy/fender eliminator. Will make your bike look much MUCH cleaner.

Regarding the number plate you spoke in the video -> this is a problem with almost all the bikes.. so what you can do is , you can attach a harder piece of metal behind it.. you get it in all motorcycle shops.. it would reduce the vibration sounds as well (if there are any)

The visor comes off very easily with just a few bolts so you can clean it.

Oggy Bhai. I am scared too to ride a bike. How to overcome it. I am scared others riders will crash me down , i will fall down and broke my legs etc such weird thoughts comes in my mind. Planning to by RC390 from long time. Took money from mom in august 2015 and two days ago i got interest of that amount from bank deposited my bank account. please tell how to overcome my weird thoughts and get confidence to ride. I am even scared to ride even honda cd dawn never ridden bike so far.

hi....I own one too.... though I ride it only on weekends to lonavala and back. I think it's an amazing machine and has too much to give to a rider...... The vibration are a constant above 7000rpm, mine underbelly is cracked as it scrapes a lot, and you have to twist a lot of wrist to pin the throttle......But these are only stuff if you drive is hard.
welll ogggy i have been listening from ktm frnds they say the seat in duke n rc slips a lot and its a bit hard and creates pain in there bums is there any suggestions to solve this problem 😉😉😉😆😆😆
I couldnt help but notice that its an IND number plate. So does KTM provide IND plates as default??

Oggy F I think for the number plate problem you got to keep the plate that ktm gives behind the plate you make... That plastic stuff that it comes with... But make sure the plate you make is as the same size of that plastic plate given by default... So there is no excess that bends back

Shorten the spring in the latching mechanism of the battery compartment cover. That should solve your problem.

+ Oggy F: i am really torn up between the KTM RC390 and the Yamaha R6. For the record, i live in the UAE and i'll tell you why i am two minded. i havent ridden for 4 years after a leg surgery, and had ridden for only a year and a half before that. Not in touch, and underconfident.
1. First, I dont know how long i'll be on the RC. In case i outgrow my RC390 in about 2 years, the resale market for sub-600cc bikes is really bad here.
2. Yes, the RC is flickable and light, but here in the UAE, we CANNOT filter on roads (its illegal here !) and there are too many strict road rules, so it doesn't matter.
3. Thousands of speed radars and cameras everywhere, so the R6 might sound useless, but I will be riding to Dubai, probably twice a month, which is a 2 hour ride on a 120km/hr speed limit highway, and more on the motorways(with people on Mustangs, Porsches, Corvettes, Lambos and Ferraris !), where the lightweight RC might not help.
4. Fuel is cheap here, as you might know, So economy is not a problem.
6. I have heard of overheating issues on the KTM's and here, it is UNBEARABLY hot here during the summer. that's another problem.
7. Biggest issue is, In case of the RC, it costs 27000 AED(showroom),around $7400 whereas i can get an R6 for $9800 (36000 AED).Yes there's a difference, but as I am not a UAE citizen, and am here for my job, i might not(be able to) make another investment by upgrading to another costlier bike.Moreover, at that point, selling the RC would become a headache as I have seen ads of sub-400 cc bikes on the net lying around for years without closing.
So, everything Basically points at the R6, but really I don't feel confident in buying a 600 as I am considering myself to be a new rider bcz of the time-gap caused.
I am in a fix. Please Help.

No need need to apologise. From all that you've shared, the R6 seems like the better bet. I know you don't feel confident about it but the 390 will heat up like crazy there, I don't think it makes sense to buy it. Other options if you're still looking for a 300 odd cc motorcycle is the yamaha r3. It's refined, can hit high speeds and I think you guys should get it with ABS and a slipper clutch (I could b wrong). Other than that, I'd say go with the R6 and go easy on the throttle to start off with.

no slipper clutch or ABS here for the R3 too, just Michelin Pilot Street tyres. Its MRF for the Indian counterparts i guess. so, erases a lot of Cons here.
but as i said, all these 300cc bikes are not readily available second hand, and it will almost never sell.
If I have to buy a new 300cc , it doesnt make sense cz the 600cc catgory is really close in comparison.
Hence the dilemma.

Nice video brother!!I hate hard clutch and low fuel tank capacity. Btw my clutch cable just came off yesterday in traffic. I managed to stop safely. Please check/change the cables after 10k Kms which i didn't do!!

i just saw one this morning a guy pulled up next to me at a light while i was in my work truck so i didnt talk to him but it looks like a super fun little bike but if i had to say something bad about it that would be the sound...it does not have a great exhaust note

RC 390 looks so sexy, even the performance is great but the only thing that acts a deterant for me from buying a ktm is the exhaust note but all things said and done, it's a value for money bike..great features at a very nice price.

+Oggy F hmmm...I like RC 390 more than the Yamaha or the Kawasaki Ninja just because it looks like a bike that The Dark Knight would ride in Mumbai.It would look so sickkkk in the complete matte black look.I used to love curves in the past but because of this bike Im more of an edge person now.The edges that this bike has accentuated its badass image.Cuts,edges & curves all in the right proportion. :-)

Hey Oggy... How can we prevent miscreants from flicking the coolant/rear disc brake fluid container cap when you park your duke 390 outside?
that was my 11th point...that the bike is so exposed. Wires and all. Put a dirty cover over the bike....that keeps most people away 😜
+Oggy F Dude I just walked into the grocery store for 5 mins and when I came out found my rear disk fluid cap missing. Rode back drained the fluid and replaced it with fresh dot 3 and put a tvs scooty fuel filler cap on it. Anyways hope that never happens to you!
