My all time favorite song. At my funeral i hope some one will play this The old ship of Zion. Get on board now for it will never pass this way again. Harry Akers
i love this song and the person who said they dislike it must have no knowledge of a good song in their heart. it touches your heart with such clarity and i could listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. thank God for you tube . because without it we may not hear it again.
I want this played at my funeral. I thank my Mama Nellie and my Grandma Artie taking me to the all night singings at the old Atlanta auditorium back in the 50's and 60's. Southern gospel is in this old Southern boys blood for life.
What talent......some already singing in God's Choir. This is so beautiful and if someone walked away from the concert and not get saved, they just might not have another chance. Thank you for putting together this great video. 5 stars and thumbs up! Jesus is my Captain! I love you Jesus and put my life in Your hands.
I took my mother to see this show. We were there. Great show with the Dixie Echoes and the Inspirations. I hung out with Sid Hughes over at WRIP/WOWE radio/tv station in Rossville Ga. back then after school and helped Sid play records. He give me tickets to take mom to the show. RIP Mom ,Sid and the rest who aren't with us anymore.

This is my grandmothers favorite song, and I believe when she passes that I will play this for her. Amen, and this is the only version that I love most.
I heard this song performed live in a dorm basement at RPI somewhere around 2006. I will never forget it, it was so good. I will probably never find out who performed it or ever be able to hear that version again. But it was so powerful I will never forget it.
it is a shame that this wonderful music is being chocked out by contemperary gospel. this will invoke the spirit and the desire to worship the lord. I have seen people shout to contemperary gospel music and it just did not agree with my spirit. I just wish we could have that"Ole Time Religion" again.

Thank God for that Old Ship of Zion. One of these days we will be going home. Thank God I am saved.
This song blesses me every time I hear it. What a great reminder that Jesus is the Master of our Sea! And that He is steering us home to Heaven!!
+Michelle Jones The key is you have to get on board. The most important point.

Squire is the lead at the start when everyone is singing!
Squire is the dominant voice at the beginning of the song when everyone is singing together. Eldridge, Ernie, and Ray follow with leads.
Who all is in the group at this time
Actaully Eldridge Fox, is singing lead....first verse, then Ray second verse, then Ernie third verse.
Nope, that's Squire Parsons on the first verse. Eldridge Fox was playing piano during this concert.
Who is the tenor?
Ernie Phillips
Ernie Phillips. Regrettably passed away a few months after a lengthy bout with cancer.
Actually Ernie follows Ray. Sorry.
One of my favorite songs!!
