In my first Ironman game as the USA, A 29-year-old Lincoln was elected for a single term as President right after Jackson's first in-game term and finished off the peaceful abolishing of slavery that was started during Jackson's term. And then Jackson went on to be reelected at least four more times while doing a 180 on the native american policy and implementing Multiculturalism (and thus cancelling the Trail of Tears) and Guaranteed Liberties in the Home Affairs department, as a coalition of Jackson's Rural Folk, Lincoln's Intellectuals and some other guy's Industrialists in the Whig Party dominated election after election. I stopped playing that run shortly after I noticed that Jackson won the election yet again at the age of 92.
The thing is Swimmy can be a mastermind. It's just that he usually tries things that are so overly ambitious (or insane to be frank) that he ends up getting dogpiled by everyone.
Fun fact: Andrew Jackson was wounded in so many duels, it was said he jingled as he walked. He once let his opponent take the first shot, and still won.

Only if the US forced the Ottomans to sell resources at massive discounted prices. Giving IMF loans to get the balances up is just meant to prevent further collapse. There is a reason so many run to the IMF in the middle of a crisis and then cry about it afterwards to get out of it.
@@stephenjenkins7971 I mean if Ottoman goods are cheaper than US goods then the US could just with the trade agreement buy Ottoman goods to increase availability in the US while increasing the cost in Ottoman lands, which usually leads to revolts. It also wouldn't help the economic situation if the US is already buying Ottoman goods but paying tariffs since they don't have a trade agreement. Conversely if US goods are very cheap compared to Ottoman goods the US could tarifflessly export goods to the Ottoman market and bankrupt the Ottoman industry, once again not really helping the situation.
