You may have noticed, that by this time Kieth Moon had passed away. In his place they recruited Kenney Jones, who was drummer with The Small Faces and then The Faces, who recruited a lead singer in the shape and rasping voice of Rod Stewart. In the mid 70s they were mad bad and dangerous to know! Mothers lock up your daughters The Faces are in town! My heroes

I've always liked this song and I always felt it was tinged with some melancholia or regret on the part of Townshend....his alcoholic and drug fueled period ("I look pretty crappy some times", "I still sing a razor line..." ) to the slow dissolution of his marriage to Karen Astley----"You better bet your life, or love will cut you just like a knife" . Great song, and Daltry's delivery is perfect, the way he emphasizes a fed up response from the woman, in " you BETTAH!!!"

Their first big hit of the eighties and first exposure on MTV

This from the first album they did without Keith Moon. The album is called Face Dances. It’s a great album.
Also, this is Roger Daltrey’s favorite Who song.

This is the 80's Who, they also sounded different after drummer Keith Moon died in 78.

Like the Beatles, the Who also developed their music over the years. Love them! ❤️❤️❤️

Let My Love Open The Dioramas Door (Pete Townshend) and Athena (Who) both around same time as this. Both as spectacularly brilliant

This was their first foray into straight pop, if I remember correctly. Great song, great reaction!

3:52 Pete Townshend mistakenly lip-syncs an "oooooh", then comes back to sing the chorus with a slight chuckle

They had a new producer on this album. Bill Szymczyk, probably best known for producing The Eagles in the 70's, was behind the mixing board for this album.

Face dances album released in 1981 was the who returning back to more r-n-b route

I agree about this one sounding different, Jayy. I'm enjoying watching you bop along to the song. Though I love Who anthems like "Baba O'Reilly", I like the fact that this one doesn't hit you over the head like some of those do. Just a good old-fashioned rock and roll song. Some others - "Going Mobile", "I Can't Reach You", "Mary-Ann with the Shaky Hands", "Sally Simpson," "I'm Free."

Interesting that your take was that this is such a different sound for them. To me, this was always their final throwback to the classic Who sound. Always fun to get your perspective.

Jayy, it was a mellower sound because the band decided to go this way after Keith's death and replacing him with the much more tamer-styled Kenny Jones..Not a bad Who LP at all.

A couple you might try our Squeeze-box, and A Quick One While He's Away. And, of course, it would probably take a few sessions/videos, but you should react to their rock opera Tommy.
