I bought the 1723E new with the skid steer bucket and 60in mower deck to maintain the 6 acres of land that came with the house I bought and planning to have a little hobby farm. The dealership had what I thought was a good deal on it and paid just a little over 13 for the whole set up.Growing up on 60 acres and being used to running my dad's 40 horse tractor too maintain the land, do chores, and other miscellaneous projects around the house I'd have to say I'm extremely surprised at the capabilities of 1723e. I bought it because I needed a mower and didn't want to buy new garden tractor every couple of years like my neighbors. They always had issues with the gas mowers. And it had the bucket so I didn't have to shovel the driveway. It's just like he stated. It can do what the big ones can just at a slower rate. I'm more than pleased with it. I've used it mostly to plow snow but right before the snow hit I cleared about acre of thick brush by pulling it right out of the ground, I've leveled alot of uneven places, I even built a 5 ft berm to have a 100yrd range. All with just the bucket. The things moved at of dirt and even more snow lol. I'm kicking my self in the ass for not getting the backhoe but to be honest I wasn't expecting this thing to preform the way it does. I would definitely recommend this little tractor for people in the same boat as me.

I can't imagine getting one w/o a backhoe but even the Deere dealer seemed surprised about that. Glad to hear you're pleased with your Massey.

I got a 2018 GC1710, so the model just before they upgraded to tilt steering wheel and loader joystick on the fender. Yeh, there are definitely some issues there with ergos, (updated design didn't seem to help that), but you could do some things to make it more comfy. Really, the main culprit is that terrible seat. I ditched it along with the turntable mechanism, installed a skid steer seat with a folding back. Way less wobble now, I sit lower on the tractor, and closer to the controls. And now, when working the backhoe, I just flip the back of the seat down and sit on top of it when facing the backhoe...a PIA chore turned into a split-second operation.

Bought 1725M in 2020 brand new, got the 10 year warranty option since it was only $500 extra. Love the tractor, we work 2 Acre field with it, we grow pumpkins, gourds, squash, we do all work with this little tractor, it has never let us down yet. If you get the backhoe option then you will sacrifice seat comfort like me. If you get it without backhoe, you will get better seat. I also use my machine for hire. At $60/h I charge I am constantly busy, on Saturday I did a little back yard work for someone, well it was little for me because it took me 2.5 hours and made $240. Leveling the backyard, using Woods 48.3 tiller to loosen up the sod and then using bucket to move soil. Great machine to make some extra cash. Also with Massey/Fendt dealership I deal with they have a great mobile support should I need it. I had employee discount available for Kubota and John Deere but chose Massey Ferguson for two reasons...
    1. It is just as good as John Deere or Kubota if not better, honestly you can go with any of those tractors and they'll do the job, more often than not equipment fails due to poor maintenance not because you didn't buy good tractor.
    2. Both John Deere and Kubota dealerships in this area have iffy reputation and are further away.

The Deere is a much nicer machine. Especially when dealing with the mid mount mower.

Seems like they all have their strong points and if anything based on this vid and the farm show vid, Massey seems to marginally have the best backhoe. They'll get the rest of it better refined and we may one day be having to do serious comparisons between Orange, Green, AND Massey Red. I'm sure New Holland would like a bigger piece of the action too.

My local dealership (Dey's Equipment Centre) near Tillsonburg, Ontario told me that just few years ago they used to sell around 10 per year, but they saw increasing demand each year. Last year, so 2020 when I got mine in August they already had 28 sales and this year they sold out completely and not sure how many they sold but I think due to Covid-19 supply interruptions it limits their sales, I know after I bought mine in August they went on to sell several more so likely well over 30. So this machine is gaining popularity very quickly, and with 10 year warranty I think it is a nice option. My machine only has about 350 hours on it but runs like the day I bought it.
There are things I like and dislike on it, but I am sure that would be the case with every machine.

I just bought a 2021 GC1725ML because of this video. Amazing tractor and does everything I ask of it with very little hesitation. My only failure was pulling out some 3 inches diameter Russian Olive bushes. The tractor spun and chewed up the area pretty bad. I did eventually get it yanked out but it was a struggle. Next time I'm going to "loosen" the stumps with the loader first. Thanks Tim (and Glenn) for a very unbiased review!

    • @ncsucpetractorfun
      @ncsucpetractorfun 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I got my GC1705 in 2017 and they updated the seat later that year. I got my dealer to give me the new seat. I can’t say that it greatly more comfortable than the old one. It is more of a bowl. I love my tractor and find the tractor comfortable for me to use for hours. Maybe I just am not used to a more springy seat. I think this was a fair representation of what I would say after 150 hours in the seat. I don’t have any issues with my leg hitting the 3 point but mine has the loader stick on the side of the tractor. That did look like fun!

These backhoes have the most bucket breakout force of any subcompact by a large amount and the only diesel that makes peak power under 3000 rpm. The highest lift capacity with a detachable bucket too. However only JD has position control!

Enjoyed the video and the Massey is a fine unit. But an overriding consideration for me is the local availability of a dealer, (as has been pointed out) and the nearest Agco dealer is around an hour away. That may be old school in todays vast info world, but there is value in having local dealer with expertise and good sales and service. I’ll stick with my Deere. Thanks again Tim and family!

Some of the things that which I'm interested in: is the weight of a tractor, hydraulic power, engine RPM at work, how heavy the front axle housing is, engine cooling system, and if the steering tie rod is behind the axle or in front. Tim was the seat all the way back, I assume it was, and is their a better seat option? .

I have an older Massey 1023 I bought it new back in 2006 to be honest I didn't try out a bunch of tractors but when I sat on the Massey and tried it I knew it would meet my needs. I have never regretted buying it and has done all I have asked of it and more. The ergos on mine are fine and I"m a big guy the only minor issue I had was the seat spring mechanism broke after a few years but than I'm 300+ Lbs so I don't fault the tractor. I might of considered a Deer but they seemed to be a bit pricey compared to mine of similar size and power.

i have two older compact Massey tractors GC2300 series. one has the loader and 60 inch mower deck and the other one is just the tractor that i use with a back blade, rotary tiller and 5' brush hog. i have not babied either of these tractors. i have done landscaping with the loader tractor digging and spreading tons of gravel and top soil. i have loaded rocks and concrete pieces on my dump truck with the loader. these tractors have plenty of power and will spin all four wheels in the dirt under full throttle when digging or loading. these tractors will operate fine at about half throttle although higher revs does provide maximum power. i have about 250 hours on the tractor only and about 1700 hours on the loader tractor and have had no maintenance or repair problems. i plan on purchasing a new Tractor/Loader/backhoe GC1725M priced at around $18,500. you cannot find any other NEW piece of equipment for that price that will do everything a GC1725M will do.

I know as a fact, a gc1710 will pick up 880lbs on idle, and 1100lbs throttled up to 2000rpm. I proved it to a Kubota owner when he said it couldn't be done. The Iseki engine and hydraulics is hands down the best of the subcompacts I tried out (Kubota, JD, Mahindra, NH). The front mount snowblower is unbelievable for distance and only having to operate at 2200-2500rpm. Too bad Massey seems to be overshadowed by the orange and green just because of the "if it's not green/orange, it's junk" mentality without ever trying it out.

I'm not a massey guy, lol. 1135 and a 2805, spent lots of summers in them. Deere. Cadillac. My 1725 blows my mind everyday. Got a neighbor with a 25 ish horse kabota. He's always trying to smoke me in whatever one can do. I play along.

OK, here is my opinion, keep going if you care. This machine is actually made by Iseke (not sure if spelled correctly). Have spent time in Europe and they have mostly Deere or Iseke. I have NEVER seen an older Iseke that isn't a rattle trap. Not sure if it relates to the machine or how they take care of them but they do not appear to age well. Also, in agreement with Tim, they just do not seem to fit well. Haven't run one over time but not comfortable for me a 6' 1".

At the time I was struggling with a 40 year old Hinimoto E 150 D that I had used since 1995... (parts no longer available). Anyway, we went on a saturday morning to the MF dealer and he had sold the model he had and didn't think (I was serious about getting a new tractor... Afterward, we went to the local JD dealer (no longer owned locally (Tulles) and they had one for me in less than a week... We had a major job that we needed to do on our farmstead... I am happy with my 1023E and it does a lot of work!!!

When it comes to MF I was looking at the 1725m and cant stand the seat and the steering wheel but it seems like an overall bigger tractor compared to the bx2680 when it cones to size and capacities.
