I don't understand that VW get smashed for habtic and piano black so remove alot of it but then Audi as we know owned by VW put a tonne of it in. Guess they want their buyers to spend their hard earned elsewhere 😕
Right?! I also saw the same :( and another detail you can see, they are using the SAME door mirrors for the VW ID.4, ID.5, Skoda Enyaq, Q4, Q5, Q6 and new Tiguan. Instead of, as before, each car or each range of car had its own different door mirror with its own mirror design matching the vehicle. Now it seems like copy -> paste 🤷🏻♂
its sad that car markers no longer understand what consumers want. Why would a passenger need that screen in front of them, when in reality, the passenger would likely just be using his/her own smart phone, which is likely more responsive, more feature rich, as well as offer more privacy and less reflections/glare? Seems more for the diver to show off what he/she can afford to waste money on extra things that are not really useful.
Well for one, its a lot bigger. It also can take a of the load away from the driver as it allows the passenger to navigate and is a secondary controller of all he car's comfort feature.
Audi is experiencing a huge step back in term of quality and creativity..their cars seems pretty boring now and they don’t understand that screens doesn’t do it all..flash back when we had real cockpit, it was way better than all those screens everywhere
Costs cannot be very high for this model, they even assemble them in Mexico. It's the reason why I didn't get one a couple years ago and instead bought the Lexus NX. Wishing I instead spent more and got the Q7.
If you look at the details, all of them have different areas with crappiness built into them. For example this Q5 seems to have horrible ergonomics for the screen and cheap buttons, A6 e tron has some really horrible material choices in places (near the inductive charging). Don’t get me wrong I get your point. I actually liked the new interior design, but so many of the details feel like they tried to glue the same design onto very different platforms and now every single one of them looks like a glued on cheap thing
BMW has typically the same interior for All models, with some minor tweakings. Audi has at least some differences according to the model(Q4, A3, E tron gt)
thats a little silver lining but there are so many other design offences that its now the least of my concerns. but yay its all where the head lights belong.
Thomas, we would appreciate to have a Q&A session with interior/ exterior designers, overall. The public would like to understand why they designed it the way it is.
This door unit for memory, mirrors and other is extremely stupid. What was wrong with old style controls? Nothing. But you just copy/paste from one gen to another( but add some stupid, useless shiny features) and hope people will be stupid enough to pay so much more for new thing.
What’s going on?? Now all audi designs have an Asian style, overly targeting that market. Audi should create separate designs for non-Asian markets; otherwise, they risk losing their loyal customers. This strays too far from Audi's core design and its traditional character. And the "EV only" strategy they’re pushing feels like another misstep. It seems like a series of poor decisions are being made, almost as if someone is intentionally trying to undermine the brand.
yes indeed 100% they do know what to do but they chose to run in the opposite direction to what our (collective) expecations are and it doesn't seem any commenter seems to like many of design ideas on show lol.
Most modern cars have lost their individuality(( Even within the Audi brand it is now difficult to understand where the e-tron is and where something else is( I sincerely believe that in a few years, we will pay for an additional option, analog instruments and physical buttons

Audi is currently leading the "Cost Cuttings Contest", while price figures increase charging more and more customers, BMW and Mercedes aren’t much far behind too I friendly advise everyone to boycott them formerly true 3 "Premium brand" till they land back on Earth.
I have to disagree on this one. These three companies have already started building more quality parts into these cars for the same price. A few years ago everything was plastic, now it isn't anymore. Same with Volkswagen, look at the first Gen Id3 and the ID7 now, the quality massively increased again.
Disappointed, the exterior is a Mercedez Benz, interior... ugly steering wheel... the passenger display completely desconnected to the rest of the IP style, the shift knob so small like this one is just ugly, all physical buttons are gone... they didnt learned from the VW with capacitive buttons.
What a "Dejavu"... haven't we seen this design before? How about looking back at the first generation e-tron (SUV) and seeing the similarity between the two? However, I own a 2021 Q5 fully loaded and only put 12K miles on it after 3 years of owning it. I think I'm going to keep mine for a very long time.
Imagine paying 90k euro for a car that offers V6 and Torsen quattro when 1-2 generations ago you could get the same driving feel for 60k without the extra weight of technology. Who even asks for cars this heavy or so many screens?
Great review! But, I must know - did Audi redesign the rear sunroof drain such that clogged drains don't overflow into the rear left electronic control module and disable the car?
Simulating break lights is very smart idea. Good job Audi and Thomas. My only problem is the ugly tablet inside. So expensive and can't integrate the screens...
Just been in the Audi config for the a5 & s5 (will be mostly the same for the Q5). The “optional” passenger screen is only an option in the lowest trims. If you configure an a5 now Audi has done it to just have mostly trims. You don’t have almost any individual options. This passenger screen is part of the packages and the moment you option any of them you are stuck with the screen. In the s5 the screen is compulsory. It’s a pity because I HATE the screen. I dont see use for it and I think it saturates the interior with an already over-abundance of screens. Hopefully Audi goes back on their screen madness or at least makes the screen an option on all trims for those who do like it. And BTW old Audi interiors were miles ahead. Peak interior design.
Great overview and it's refreshing to see you point out some of the real impracticalities of the updated design (e.g. closing the door and touching the buttons, hard to operate the air con on touch screen). It's made me really feel I'm better off buying the old design as new.
The new grille is an ungainly mix of shapes and textures. Why are the driving sensors randomly placed and not fully integrated into the design? This is awful looking. Are the designers partially blind? What a mess!
Also looks like gavel or small stones could easily get into the radiator through the big holes…. Wonder if there’s a safety system in place for that when being off-road.
Bravo for Audi trying some innovations like rear stop light, real exhaust finally but sound horrible, black optic package also inside very good. However the door switch panel and how difficult to touch the screen very poorly designed.
Thank you for the early video, as always. Nice looking crossover and I think it will sell well. The door handle solution as well as full-touch is stupid, though. Wish users could re-program ESP off button to ISA off.
those headlights are a huge disappointment, they look like corolla cross' headlights and the fact that audi didnt put less LEDs in it compared to the A5 or Q6 is a huge miss
Current USA B9 owner. Audi brings back real exhaust exits and a novel towing feature.......but everything, and I mean almost everything else is a big disappointment. Looks like I will be shopping hard for the best outgoing 2024 model I can find later this year.
agreed 1000% i have a c7 A6 and that car still gets looked at. its a 2013. and i will keep it till it rust. already went through an engine once because of racing it lol
Interior is dissapointing. Audi is literally forcing you to buy extra screen for passenger because the standard one is curved to the point only could driver see it properly.
Thomas, can't wait to see the driving reviews (particularly Autobahn segment) of these new Audis. From the videos, the interiors are underwhelming but Auditography says the A5 was pretty decent.
I think all manufacturers should put a gear shifter behind the steering wheel , that's where your hands are, and much more free space in the middle for cup holders and put stuff.
That "ledge" by the climate controls and the drivers "missing" door handle (to close the door) appears to be a very bad design idea. Hoping "Remote Start" will come factory installed. I live in Canada and will definitely be well received.
As an owner of a 2024 S4 Sedan (bought deliberately before the new generation was released coz I like my physical buttons, which I knew would disappear) I must say I prefer my interior. The seat adjustment in the door here in the new one I don't like (the less piano black the better) and it's potentially dangerous as you might look for what to press, whereas when you have it on the low side of the seat itself you can't., you must feel your way and keep your eyes on the road. I would miss the current chunky gearhandle I have and I also do not like all the screens which make me think of toys for the instagram/tiktok generation.

Cost-cuts
Sucks that all latest Audi models seem to use the same stupid interior design
ehhh you forgot to add the exterior too.
@@colonelccccc 😂
@colonelccccc i was about to comment the same with this dull light bar same as tiguan id234567 seat skoda nercedes etc so disgusting such a nice idea back in 2017 with the A8 made so common trash
Audi has been doing same interiors for many models for years?? Are you guys slow?
@@gullible119 yeah but now they shit so it stands out more
September 2024 and still with the piano black. Is no one listening to us? And don’t get me started on that grill. 😂
Low sales might make them listen to us
Awful. Gets scratched fast even with very gentle use and looks old then. Worse then fake exhaust.
I don't understand that VW get smashed for habtic and piano black so remove alot of it but then Audi as we know owned by VW put a tonne of it in. Guess they want their buyers to spend their hard earned elsewhere 😕
It’s time to start “piano-black police” 😅
@@kidfreejones yeah. Like maybe Genesis. I can’t believe what Audi is doing. McFly…..Is anyone home ?..
I only need a nob for the radio, air con and a couple of switches for windows up/down and lights. Why so many screens
It’s impressive how the premium German carmakers bmw, merc, Audi ruined all their design language in less than 10 years
Because they are disgusting companies pandering exclusively to the Chinese market
@@zhifyzhifywu3719 Mercedes interiors are horrible. They look like cheap Chinese cars
Porsche too. The Macan is disgusting
i dont get it, what makes you guys think that way? i look at all these new cars and think wow they all look a lot better than the old ones
I agree my Q5 is now 6 years old and the next generation looks just fantastic.. love the RS !
Did anybody notice the window switchgear? Seems they are using the standard VW group stuff instead of their own beautiful buttons
Current Q5 owner (previous gen).
This interior is a deal breaker for me.
What happened to the purity of German design?
Dead.
It was replaced by Chinese
@@Darx97... and they don't buy european cars anymore. 😂
German Nordstream itself.
LGBT happened
Audi is experiencing a huge step back in term of quality and creativity..their cars seems pretty boring now and they don’t understand that screens doesn’t do it all..flash back when we had real cockpit, it was way better than all those screens everywhere
The cost cutting trend continues.
Costs cannot be very high for this model, they even assemble them in Mexico. It's the reason why I didn't get one a couple years ago and instead bought the Lexus NX. Wishing I instead spent more and got the Q7.
Come on Audi, we now got the exact same interior in Q6, A5, A6 and Q5. Looks just like a copy paste thing. You can do better…
The A3 and etron gt are older models, so including them in this makes no sense
Like Tesla🤷🏻♂️
if it looked good then it wouldn’t be a problem but this? cmon now audi do better
At least it doesn’t have stupid split headlights
Yeah... 😎 But they will probably manage to ruin this with a facelift...
Next gen Q7 and A8 would have it
AT LEAST
그나마 ㅋㅋ
thats a little silver lining but there are so many other design offences that its now the least of my concerns. but yay its all where the head lights belong.
we want physical buttons :(
what you don't want to pay more if something malfunctions and need to replace
no we dont
Interior is much, much better than the new X3
Every single car on the planet has a better interior than a new X3. This Q5 comes second worst...
Thomas, we would appreciate to have a Q&A session with interior/ exterior designers, overall. The public would like to understand why they designed it the way it is.
Yeah this ! Time to get answers from these fuckers
Most modern cars have lost their individuality((
Even within the Audi brand it is now difficult to understand where the e-tron is and where something else is(
I sincerely believe that in a few years, we will pay for an additional option, analog instruments and physical buttons

They are removing physical buttons to save cost and replace with cheap LCD touch screen.... I am glad that I have my Audi Q5 2023.
Please mention the material of the lower part of the door card. Looks like cheap hard plastic to me!
The German brands have really lost their way on design. Ugly interiors from Audi, weird EQ shapes from Mercedes and giant grills from BMW.
giant grills from bmw????? U r blind??? Bro look at this ugly giant audi grills... please.... 0:31

interior: absolutely disgustingly unacceptable cheap
this type of interior should only be put on an audi a1.
that steering wheel is disgusting
how true!!!
Now I feel reliefed I went for the GLC, even though it came out almost two years now , it's still way nicer than the new X3 or this soapbox
I recently noticed a GLC Coupe on my block. Absolutely gorgeous imo. Inside as well. Nice choice !
@@kenfrankel3498 the coupe is interesting but SUV coupes are not my cup of tea . Still, a really nice car.
Audi is currently leading the "Cost Cuttings Contest", while price figures increase charging more and more customers, BMW and Mercedes aren’t much far behind too
I friendly advise everyone to boycott them formerly true 3 "Premium brand" till they land back on Earth.
I have to disagree on this one. These three companies have already started building more quality parts into these cars for the same price. A few years ago everything was plastic, now it isn't anymore. Same with Volkswagen, look at the first Gen Id3 and the ID7 now, the quality massively increased again.
@@thore8978 So, you are telling me that the 2025 A6 have better interior materials than the 2019 A6
Is that right?
Give more to Italian car makers. Oh yeah
Wtf, did Audi piss off Brembo? Both the SQ5 and new S5, have floating, single piston calipers in the front, just like every shitbox on the market.
The rear end looks stranges😵💫
Stunning! I'd choose Audi over the others in the same category.
The passenger screen is so asymmetrical and sticks out like a sore thumb.
15:39 - one of the reason i love this channel. Keep up

The new SQ5 looks much less aggressive than the 2021-2024.
In a few years time cars with no tacky screens inside will be top luxury, you'll have to pay for it :)
I've heard a good one yesterday: VAG is the new NOKIA. They just need to keep going in the 'right' direction.
The design with the screen really is bafflingly stupid.
Well atleast this looks 10x better than the new X3
Easy to do lol
Great review! But, I must know - did Audi redesign the rear sunroof drain such that clogged drains don't overflow into the rear left electronic control module and disable the car?
Finally Audi makes something exciting in last 10 years. Can’t help to like this thing. Beautifully optioned
The same design, but Audi is lights brand ! you are genius
The ilumination looks sick!
Simulating break lights is very smart idea. Good job Audi and Thomas. My only problem is the ugly tablet inside. So expensive and can't integrate the screens...
Leah laughing at Thomas pretending to be a car! 😂
@@AmazeTase An exhaust precisely but yeah😅😅
I do miss the old style clamshell tailgate. Always thought that was cute on the Q5. I overall like the new Q5 but I do not like the dashboard design.
The Q5 Sportback I ordered months ago is due for delivery this month. Should I have waited for the new generation - No way!!
Acoustic side windows are a must on Audis. Thanks for pointing this out! Great 1st review.
Great overview and it's refreshing to see you point out some of the real impracticalities of the updated design (e.g. closing the door and touching the buttons, hard to operate the air con on touch screen). It's made me really feel I'm better off buying the old design as new.
I'm happy buying previous q5 generation.
Guys, you really make a nice job here! I like you very much, you are the best in presenting the cars!
Keep going!
New Audi Q5 is really nice!
The new grille is an ungainly mix of shapes and textures. Why are the driving sensors randomly placed and not fully integrated into the design? This is awful looking. Are the designers partially blind? What a mess!
Ugliest front grill EVER 🤮
@@kenfrankel3498 absolutely
Also looks like gavel or small stones could easily get into the radiator through the big holes…. Wonder if there’s a safety system in place for that when being off-road.
Bravo for Audi trying some innovations like rear stop light, real exhaust finally but sound horrible, black optic package also inside very good. However the door switch panel and how difficult to touch the screen very poorly designed.
Thank you for the early video, as always. Nice looking crossover and I think it will sell well. The door handle solution as well as full-touch is stupid, though. Wish users could re-program ESP off button to ISA off.
Cheers!
those headlights are a huge disappointment, they look like corolla cross' headlights and the fact that audi didnt put less LEDs in it compared to the A5 or Q6 is a huge miss
Current USA B9 owner. Audi brings back real exhaust exits and a novel towing feature.......but everything, and I mean almost everything else is a big disappointment. Looks like I will be shopping hard for the best outgoing 2024 model I can find later this year.
I’m surprised by the lack of rear legroom in such a large vehicle and the cost cutting with materials in the rear cabin.
RIP Audi. You had a good run. Last nice car was the 2019 A7, then it all went downhill from there.
I suspect they're trying to force people into their EVs.
agreed 1000% i have a c7 A6 and that car still gets looked at. its a 2013. and i will keep it till it rust. already went through an engine once because of racing it lol
Skoda Kodiak, same length, almost 900l capacity, and in the plugging hybrid version 700l. Audi Q5, 520l.
Tiguan, 4.5m, 600l capacity.
Interior is dissapointing. Audi is literally forcing you to buy extra screen for passenger because the standard one is curved to the point only could driver see it properly.
Thomas, can't wait to see the driving reviews (particularly Autobahn segment) of these new Audis. From the videos, the interiors are underwhelming but Auditography says the A5 was pretty decent.

what's up with the unibrow light on every model now
I think it was the Macan that influenced them. Trying to capture some Porsche magic. Original ideas seem dead.
Glad audi is focused on being the king of th headlight game. Always innovative
Love the exterior design but struggling to like the interior.
Thanks for the review. Seems like back seats from the new VW tiguan have more leg room then the new Q5??
Audi interiors now look like they belong in commodity cars.
I think all manufacturers should put a gear shifter behind the steering wheel , that's where your hands are, and much more free space in the middle for cup holders and put stuff.
The brake disco lights on the rear windscreen is unnecessary. Nice design though
Your reviews are top notch…will you be doing a road test on the new SQ5 any time soon…thanks
Thanks 🙏 yes soon!
That "ledge" by the climate controls and the drivers "missing" door handle (to close the door) appears to be a very bad design idea. Hoping "Remote Start" will come factory installed. I live in Canada and will definitely be well received.
They made the mistake of using tactile buttons. Tiguan went back on physical buttons.

what is going on with german car design these days...
Built for China... but chinese people don't want to buy it. 😂
One of my biggest complains of my 2021 B9.5 SQ5 is that you can't stow the cargo cover under the floor.
So happy I just bought the current model with all the nice physical buttons. I hate this interior.
