- #Okinawa is different. Geographic isolation and centuries of political independence when this was the Ryukyu Kingdom have left indelible marks on #Okinawan food and culture. The absolute best way to explore these differences in food between Okinawa and mainland #Japan is with a visit to #Makishi Public Market in #Naha, capital city of #Okinawa. This is the ultimate tour of an amazing market. Let's check it out.
Thanks for watching! Cheers, Nick :)

あなたのビデオはすばらしい👏
市場でのあなたの積極的な行動は、外国人と日本人にもたいへん役に立ちます。私は、あなたに豚の耳を試食させたお店で、豚の耳を買います(笑)
Food jealous right now!! Thanks for the video Happy Travels
Those green things topped on budai was “kaiware”(Japanese radish sprout).
What a huge shopping arcade. The fish market looks so lively with those colorful fish. Enjoyable place to visit for fresh seafood.
It was so colorful!
Looks very traditional market to see!
Awesome video plus your Japanese is getting better lol
At least people understand me lol
Thank you for the video this really gave me a heads up on what to expect before I visit the market in a couple hours.
Glad it was helpful!

Its like caleidoscope of colours but its like fish 😁👌
食べたいです。means “I want to eat it.”
どうやって食べますか?is How do you eat it?
Had been there, nice market for sure.
I was there in Oct. and they were closed as well. Might be from the pandemic. It's awesome there!
Yes it is!
Very interesting market
Were there table numbers or how did they find the correct person once the fish had gone from the lower floor & cooked
Someone walks up with you so they know where you’re sitting
Another great video |•'-'•)وナイス!

25:35 That green is Daikon radish sprouts.
How do you eat this: "Kore wa dō yatte taberu nodesu ka?" Love your vlogs!
Thank you! And thanks for the translation! Lol
@@travelfareatlocal Oh hey, wasn't expecting such a quick reply! I'm checking you out because I'm going to Okinawa in January 2023, in about 2 weeks (Jan 13-22). It's my second time. I wanted to go during a cooler time. Last time I was there, it was in June. You mentioned Okinawa in summer, but it is HUMID! An Okinawan local once told me there's only 3 things bad about Okinawa: June, July and August!
SUPER 👌

SUPER 👌
Might be Yuzu for the sea grape sauce.
The sauce for the sea grapes is "Sanbaizu" consisting of a 1:1:1 ratio of vinegar, mirin, and soy.
Do u recommend okinawa or sapporo for January travel?
Depends on what you want to do. Sapporo in January is extremely cold and very snowy, so if you're going for skiing or just want to see a lot of snow, then it's a good place. If you want warmer weather and some island time, go to Okinawa.
