I really appreciate this way of teaching. You give us plenty of time to follow along while we listen to your instructions. I think that hearing you talk, helps to keep the whole practice orderly. Yeah… It works very well! 👏
I just found your channel when I searched TH-cam for a watercolor tutorial of Venice. Thank you for the easy instructions. Someone gave me watercolors 2 weeks ago. I spent the first week searching tutorials on technique and how to manage water flow. I finished my first 4x6 painting of a magnolia. I'll try to attach it here. I subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to more lessons. Sorry, I cannot add a photo.
Well Chris, you've done it again! Like I commented before I have a whole waterpaper pad devoted to your extreme beginners series. This one( I did it twice) and the the other Venice building tutorial are two of my absolute favourites of yours! They both turned out really well. Also, I 'm so happy when you emphasize the difficulty of watercolor. I am not a returning artist, or one coming from a different medium or one with an ounce of artistic ability. My mom and sister are natural artists...they have "the eye". I felt so frustrated as a child that I could not realize on paper, the vision in my head. So I'm coming at this as a decades older person with no natural ability. And yet, I manage to surprise myself with how I'm usually pretty happy with my watercolor efforts following your tutorials. I have a million miles to go, but your ability to teach puts me squarely on the right path.
I absolutely love your vids! I really appreciate this series. I have had LIFE interfere with my watercolor progress so I am going to start from the beginning and work with you all over again, but I still watch the new vids just because I love watching you paint. I try to take it all in. Thanks so much for all you teach us noobs!!
I'm a sculptor and have painted quite a bit but not so much in watercolor. I'm traveling to Mexico City in a month and want to capture my experiences in watercolor. I inherited my Dad's watercolor set, but for this trip I bought myself a small travel tin. I am so glad to have found your channel!
Chris, thank you so much for taking the time to teach us techniques and things you’ve learned. It is so helpful to follow along with you. I feel like I have learned a lot by watching and following along.
Hey Chris - yet another great lesson! I’m hoping that you would do a video on crest figures (people) with a few examples and general shapes. Thanks so much for this series - I love it!
Hi Chris, I really like this painting. I tried this twice and the other get a little better. I am a beginner and use the same colors you have in your palette (not prang) I find it difficult to mix the colors with water I always get to much paint and when I mix with other colors I get more and more paint. When I watch you mixing the colors they get so thin and fine. I guess it is something I have to practice….and practice. I watch all your videos and try to keep up with you. I am learning so much. I just had knee surgery so now I have a lot of time to spend with you😊🇸🇪
Awesome Tanja, great to hear you’re making good progress and keying in on color mixing… that is a great thing to do …. Best of success and feel better and hope you knee heals up back to 100%. Thanks for watching 👍😎
hello, i love your videos. that's for sure! I'm an absolute beginner and would like to try to copy your pictures. well, I'll try 😅... thanks for your videos! Greetings from Germany, Bavaria. M 👋🍄

Chris, as always, I love your tutorials. I completed one of your tutorials I call "Winter Barn" a couple of weeks ago and I have been asked to donate it to a non-profit for a silent auction. I would love to give the painting to them to help their cause, but I wanted permission from you to share it. I will not receive money for it personally, but it is being "sold". I will give you attribution by stating it is from a tutorial by Chris Petri on the back and on the description card. I look forward to hearing from you.
Make sure the paints you used are lightfast, otherwise the painting will fade and/or change color. Also that the paper is acid free. You can also buy a UV protectant spray for artwork to carefully apply to it.
Hello Chris, I'm following this tutorial and one question popped up about the shadows, on the arches you made the shadows on the right side and on the fence they are on the left side. This is a little bit confusing for me can you please clear my confusion ?
Hi Annette, great question. I had the light source from the right,… also some reflections in the water at play…. I really can’t say I was 100% accurate with my shadow patterns in this painting … sometimes if I’m having a great time painting a fun composition like this a bit of accuracy is muted 👍😎
Hello Mr. Petri. Will you be copying your videos to Rumble, specifically the extreme beginner videos? Also, I want to humbly thank you for doing these videos. I love each one, and will be using any and all links you post if you are monetarily rewarded for the purchases. These videos are a great help.
@@cpetri766 that‘s continuing the creative process, and I think we all seek to“ finish“ our paintings at some point. Also fresh eyes some time afterwards encourage the finishing process I think. 😀Richard.

Great to be working alongside you Karla, thanks for watching 👍😎🍀

Hello again Chris!
I have always used my paper flat on a table to create my efforts.
Is this wrong, because you paint with your paper vertically?
Hi Richard, I think if that works for you …..that is good to go in my thoughts 👍😎
Thanks for your reply. Of course I realised that vertical paper will encourage the paint to seep down naturally.
I would like to know what kind of paper you use and how to keep it from buckling as it dries.
That is Fabriano Artistico extra white 300bm 120 lb

Did I miss something? I don't see a reference photo, which helps to see how to
translate to a page. Great tutorial, however.
Didn’t have one for this video. Apologies for that. 👍✅
PS.
Do you always know when a painting is ‚finished‘, or is it obvious to you?
Not really, I’m used to under finishing my paintings so usually I go back in and do touch ups or additions 90% of the time. 👍😎
