Watching from Surfside Beach, SC. Worried about my elderly aunt and uncle in Jacksonville, and praying for all of Florida! My family is from Mcclellanville, SC. We were completely devastated by Hurricane Hugo. We had a 20ft tidal surge, and lost everything but the clothes on our backs! I know how they feel!!

I think it’s going to miss Jacksonville, praying for your family ❤
@@KathyStrickland-nh9vx most likely staying due to pets. We have safety plan if we are not able find place for our pets. The one local shelter that allows pets might not be an option.
That looks like you're in the danger zone. Do all your prep work today. Even if the hurricane doesn't destroy you, power could be out. Full tank of gas, bottled water, non perishable food, all that stuff. Make it all mobile in case you need to vacate on short notice.
Still here watching you from Suwannee County Florida. Glad to see more shift to the west (sorry Apalachicola / Panama City). Finished all storm prep today waiting on last minute sand bags @ front door. I hope for but not expecting Internet and land line phone to stay on, we were 3+ days with only minimal cellular service with Idalia last year & Debby a few months ago.
We are in the northern panhandle, in the country to the west of Greensboro, Florida. Our elevation is about 260 ft. above sea level. We have battened down the hatches as best we can. We should be OK but are ready for what comes. Praying Helene weakens and maybe moves to the east because Mexico Beach does not need another hurricane to wreak havoc.
Our pregnant daughter and son-in-law live in Mills River, which is north of Hendersonville, south of Asheville. They are new there. I’ve tried to explain to them that typical weather in the Charlotte area and in the Carolinas that comes from West to east is weakened by the height of the Smoky Mountains as one gets into upper elevations. That’s typical. This storm is atypical. This system is massive and it’s coming up from the south and it appears that the smoky mountains Will, ring out the weather towards the east, which is where she is coming from. We’ve invited them to come to our place in Cabarrus county until she can have an appraisal at show what’s going on in her neck of the woods.
South Louisiana. That sure looks like a severe right turn for a storm moving so fast and powerful. I'm thinking its going to come in further west of current predictions.
It goes from the Gulf of Mexico to North Carolina in about 12 hours. That's a fast moving storm. Really fast when you consider it's making the trip during a storm.

Eastern TN supposed to be drenched today/tonight. How much will we get from Helene, too? Already have 1.5 inch in the rain gauge from today.
