  • My 2015 Tahoe started running the cooling fans at high speed after the truck was shut off. It was also reading nothing on the temperature gauge. In this video, we will guide you through the process of replacing the coolant temperature sensor and thermostat in my 2015 Tahoe. We'll cover everything from identifying the parts (🔍keywords: 'coolant sensor', 'thermostat', 'temperature sensor') to the actual replacement process. This guide is also applicable to similar models like Silverado, GMC, Sierra, Yukon, Chevrolet, and Suburban. This is applicable to most GM Trucks and SUVs.

    I've been dealing with this issue on my 2015 Yukon for a year and a half. I've put 5 thermostats and about 8 sensors in it, replaced the sensor plug...this thing is driving me crazy. Everytime I replace the thermostat and sensor its ok for about 2 months then starts the engine protect mode and gets more and more frequent. Tested the thermostats and they seem to work ok with the boiling water test, sensors seem to work with multimeter testing but once replaced it's only a matter of time until the issue starts. I started carrying a socket to pull the battery cable to reset the computer to buy a little more time and get the ac working again.

      I’d look at replacing the plug on the sensor, sounds like you could have an issue there, or a chafe in the wire to the ECM possibly.

      @@wecanfixit7308 I did replace the plug, it didn't resolve any of the issues. I'm going to start checking out all the grounds as I've seen other videos mentioning issues with them causing all types of different issues.

      @@ncarlen3 grounds could certinly cause weird things. I had a random no start on mine forever that ended up being the negative battery cable. Of course I found this after cleaning every ground on the truck. Good luck!

    O’yeah the good’O war stories from the wife. 😂 never mind the 100’s of good money saving stories you’ll have on DIY projects. I believe they’ll call that the motivational speech.

      Great point, thanks! I used a scan tool, but disconnecting the battery works also.

    So, if the thermostat is changed and the there are still issues like the cooling engine going crazy can it be possible that the water pump could leak coolant ?

    • @wecanfixit7308
      @wecanfixit7308  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it would have to be a huge noticeable leak to uncover the temp sensor enough to create this issue

      Did you clear the codes? If so, then you've probably got a wiring issue.

      It's the thermostat mind was doing the same thing once I changed it everything went back to normal
