    Hi Rod! I had a small query. For the open water tests in a towing tunnel can we assume the pressure to be atmospheric?

    While the rotating propeller and the cavitation on the tips are interesting, the helical rotation left behind the propeller clearly shows the heavy distortion due to the vertical strut holding the propeller. There seems to be high backpressure ensuing due to the presence of the strut and that in itself could cause vibrations even on the strut itself. The upward flow on the strut is the same as the upward flow on the cutwater on the bow of any ship.
    The following video shows a vertical strut that was designed to minimize the effect seen on the strut holding the propeller.
