  • Welcome to Feeding Concepts, Inc. This is a video on how to tune and adjust a coil on a drive unit.
    The unit we are working on today is a standard unit, also known as a superior unit. It is very standard in the vibratory feeder bowl industry. This unit is a little different because it has four bolts on the coil mount. Two of the bolts are adjustable for the coil gap, and the other two tighten the coil up.
    The goal is to get the coil gap as close and as narrow as you possibly can without it hammering the armature plate. When the coil gap is as close as possible, it’s going to draw fewer amps and less heat with more power. When the coil gap is wider, you’re going to have less power and draw more amps. You want to have the least amount of amps drawn so it doesn’t heat up too much and burn the coil. Sometimes when you’re tuning the bowl you can get the coil mount a little “out-of-whack” and disrupt the gap.
    Before you begin tuning, you want to make sure your mounting bolts, toe clamps, and center bolt inside the bowl are all fastened tightly. This will ensure that your tuning is accurate.
    To start, you want to loosen the two bolts in the center (the ones that tighten and loosen the coil). When you loosen those up, this will give you some gap. Doing this will give you a little bit of room to move the coil around. You want to loosen the center bolts enough so that it allows you to slightly move the coil up and down. Next, turn on the unit and begin running it.
    With the remaining two bolts (the bolts that adjust the coil gap), you want to tighten those at about a half-turn at a time until you hear the coil start to hammer. Once you hear the hammering, go ahead and tighten the coil back up with the center bolts. This should pull it back and square it up enough so that the hammering stops. This should achieve the smallest gap, the lowest amount of amps drawn, and the greatest amount of power.
    That sums up how to tune and adjust a coil on a drive unit. If you liked this video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to our TH-cam channel. Hello sir... thank you for your great video
    My vibratory feeder is moving fast as I reduce the coil gap but the product is also vibrating up down when moving forward
    Please help

    Hello sir , I see your video is helpful but I know how we can set a frequency to beyond 150 Hz to operate smooth part feeding and high speed so what we can do for achieving higher frequency coil design is main role or any change in left spring is also work suggest what we do
    Thanking you

    We are having trouble with our vibratory feeder, the coils got moved, now we can’t get proper flow, once parts come up out of middle they do fine , it’s getting them to come up. We’ve move the coil closer, farther and seems like nothing helps. It is a bigger bowl would that make a difference on how much of a gap to have?

    Hi, to control it, is better change frequency and voltage or frequency can be 50hz and only change voltage? Thanks

    How do you define the direction of movement?

    • @roberthite7880
      @roberthite7880 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is counterclockwise. A clockwise bowl would have all the parts welded to the base of the drive unit reversed or mirror image. The magnet, which is the black part being adjusted pulls the pull plate, which is the part it is being gapped against. The magnet is being turned on and off very rapidly with an adjustable controller. Too fast for the eye to see. This tosses or throws the part forward, causing the movement. This movement can be seen if a strobe light is directed at the springs and properly adjusted.

    how many leaf springs do I have to use in my feeder? if that quantity depends on the entire system weight, how can I calculate this?

    • @Feedingconceptsinc
      @Feedingconceptsinc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hugo Ferrel Injante Infante
      There are a few variables that determine how many springs to use. including size of base drive, whether you are tuning to AC or DC (60hz or 120hz), and also the weight of your bowl. Variable frequency controllers can help immensely when tuning a drive. However, you can do it without one. Make sure all your bolts are very right. If you don’t get any drive, start to loosen one of your spring banks, if it increases the power of the drive, you are over tuned and you need to remove springs. If you loose power or it stays the same, you need to add springs.

      @@Feedingconceptsinc that's interesting. 'I'm using a 120Hz frequency vibration (feeding with 60Hz) and all my drives are 30 W. What kind of movements say that I need more leaf springs.?

    • @Feedingconceptsinc
      @Feedingconceptsinc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hugo Ferrel Injante Infante
      Your controller has its frequency that it is using to power the coils. Vibratory driver also has its own residual frequency, and this is what needs to be tuned. If your controller is using 120hz to power your driver, then you must also tune your driver to 120hz. When driver are tuned to 120hz they almost always have thicker springs, about 3/8” (it varies depending on the driver). If you’re driver has thinner springs. Then it is probably tuned for 60hz, and either the tuning of the drive, or the controller settings, need to be changed.
