    Shafiq Morton is a Cape Town-based photojournalist, editor, surfer, and former radio and TV presenter with over 40 years of experience. He hosted the "Drivetime" show on Voice of the Cape for more than 20 years, interviewing guests from over 100 countries. He has reported on key South African events, including the anti-apartheid movement, Nelson Mandela's release, and the 1994 elections. Morton has covered international stories in regions like Palestine, Libya, Somalia, and Pakistan.
    His awards include the National Vodacom Award (2008) and regional Vodacom Award (2010). His radio show was nominated for MTN Awards (2014) and Liberty Life Awards (2016). He was recognized as one of the 500 most influential Muslims by the Royal Islamic Institute in Jordan (2009-2012) and received the AWQAF SA award in 2012. His book "A Mercy to All" was awarded the AfriCAN award in 2022, and he received the Dost-Fellowship Award in Turkey in 2023.
    Morton is also an accomplished author of five books, covering a wide range of topics from travelogues to historical and religious subjects. His works include "Notebooks from Makkah and Madinah" and "Surfing behind the Wall: My Palestinian Journey." He is completing a book on Cape Town’s kramats and working on a novel, "The Chronicles of Ayman, the State Capture Sufi." In 2018, he was inducted into the Surfer’s Walk Hall of Fame at Muizenberg Corner.
