- OUR OLD PHILIPPINES HOME IN CAGAYAN DE ORO IS NOW A CAFE, BAR, AND AIRBNB!
We made it back to the City of Golden Friendship. This video is a little look at Viaerjo Outdoor Center... and the amazing place it has become! We start though with a little walk around Divisoria. This old downtown area of Cagayan de Oro really has some vibes too it. Having lunch at Persimmon's is always a good idea, I love their selection of food. Back at Viajero, it was time to show you what they have put together!
There is a great little coffee shop, local brewed beer, and live music gigs on weekends!
Feels great being back in Cagayan de Oro City!

CDO is my second home, I lived there for 7 years and I love this place so very much, the people the food the environment and the hospitality. Met my wife in Cagayn de Oro at Yellow Cab Pizza in Lem kit kai mall.
Oh, how they love you, Kulas. Wherever you go in the Philippines, people recognize you. Better set up your roots now. But it looks like you will be running around for a long time. Therine will be running out of gas, and you are still doing your adventures here and there. So far away from rainy British Columbia. Your home away from home.

Happy to see all the positive changes at Viajero. It feels like forever since you were back to CDO. I bet it felt great to be in the old neighborhood seeing familiar places and all the friends as well as your Filipino family. The party they threw for you was absolutely epic! What a huge transformation dihang lugara! Daghan pairs of shoes ang napudpud sa baklay from Ramonal St. to XU. The street was not well paved! And the mosque was just a tiny structure then. Love the city of Golden Friendship! Persimmon -buhi pa diay na? Wow! 😮

Glad to see they're getting more craft beer in the Philippines. I had a hard time finding an IPA anywhere over there 5 years ago. There was a place called The Bottle Shop on a frontage road in Manila, and another called The Perfect Pint, but that was about it. Even last April when I was there, no place inside or outside the entire Mall of Asia had an IPA. When I stayed at a hotel at Station 0 in Boracay, their bar had only one kind of IPA (Crazy Carabao). They were still primarly selling the popular watered down corporate beers like San Miguel, which is like Coors or Budweiser over here. But I don't know anyone who drinks that anymore when there are so many craft beers available here. It's like with coffee: do you want it from freshly ground beans, or Folgers out of a can? 😆
