Christian I told u in the last video fluke is the thing I’m from Cape Coral and every time I’m going to Everglades or Naples that’s how we got fish!!!!! Really good video keep killing it having fun
Awesome video, glad Grace landed fish. Awesome seeing you throw that baitcaster. Baitcasters are the only way I’ve fish for 26 years…even have them on my surf rods.
DC reels are worth it! I have x(3) DC 150s, a DC 200, and a Curado BFS (For wintertime - light lure fishing). I can skip with those DCs under mangroves/docks no problem, bomb cast into the wind, and very accurately and quickly sight cast fish.
I got into Florida inshore fishing after moving back to Florida in 2021. Threw spinning gear for a few years. 1.5 years ago I bought (2) Curado DC 150 reels after seeing Flats Class recommend them (when he was with Shimano). One was on a 7' MH and the other was with a 7' M (both fast action). I fell in love with them. I initially had 10lb braid on them but they kept wind knotting. Come to find out, unless you're throwing a BFS reel, 30lb braid is a much better size. It won't dig into itself like the smaller line. And, considering baitcaster reels do not change direction the way spinning reels do, it does not affect casting distance the way 10lb VS 30lb braid would on a spinning reel. I now own the following: 1. x(3) Curado DC 150s (all have 30lb Diamond braid, paired with all Lews Inshore Rods: x(1) 7', Medium Heavy, FA rod | x(1) 7', Medium FA rod | x(1) Medium, MF rod) 2. x(1) Curado DC 200 paired with a 6'-8" heavy rod (my skipping setup) 3. x(1) Curado BFS paired with a 7', ML, MF rod. 10lb Power Pro. This is for those real small lures They are salt water resistance, but just make sure to give them a good yearly cleaning. The advantages to baitcasters are: 1. Accuracy + Quickness (no pressing your finger on the line like a spinning rod). This also depends on your rod, too. And the speed at which you can cast with it VS spinning is def noticeable. This is especially important while sight casting. 2. The # of casts. This is huge when power fishing, ESPECIALLY during tournaments. So much less overhead getting 400-500 casts in with a baitcaster VS a spinning real. Enjoy, and don't put it up and rarely use it. The more you use it, the better! Also, that soft plastic fluke/jerk bait is MONEY. That was my go-to lure this last year (Chassahowitzka to Aucilla). The ZMAN 5" pearl one paired with a Texas-Eyed jighead (3/0 or 4/0). Give me a follow on Instagram man! If you ever come up this way I'd be happy to take you out! instagram.com/ballardleland?igsh=MzZlOGZ3dzl2cHht
Dang brother, another awesome video!! I always used a bait caster w 20lb mono, dont ever backlash w braid, lol..a mess!! Little thing I did w my fluke was use paneling nails for the weight and glass rattles for sound and sometimes I would dip the tail in red or chartreuse . Skipping flukes under mangroves was my thing, spent hours at my swimming pool skipping for practice , all about thumb control and the angle that fluke first hits the water..Your red house boy here..Great to she Grace enjoying the Everglades!! Thanks for the video Christian and God Bless brother!!
@@christian_masterson Yeah, a small panelling nail cuts out all the friction.Just insert it into the head of the fluke just next to the eye of the hook or mid body of the Fluke..Dude this is top secret info dawg!! LOL..
I left an old pro green with a tranx 151 with my father in fl just to throw 5 in jerk shadz when i visit. Great moderate action soft plastic setup. The mangroves are so different from where i fish it was awesome
🌴 Hey Chris & Grace, what a great day together and you got fish , that was a huge snook shagging bait.a top water might of got his attention, well buddy this is one heck of a way to up grade your vid’s , I hope you and grace start doing more vid’s from what I could see she may be your best catch yet 👍🏼😆
Baitcaster are the only way inshore.. caught 25-35” snook 20-30” reds no problems. Always grabbing my Revo x on 6’6” med rod. I choose it over the dc curado and daiwa tatula all good reels but that cheap ass revo feels nice.
@ the winds been relentless this year. I’ve been impressed you’ve pull off the trips you have up where you drop. Down here where there is less to hide behind, it’s been a bumpy season to say the least. Keep on keepin’ on. You really are making great content. 🤙🏽 coming from a fly guy thass big! 😂
I have a buddy who is a solid fisherman with some impressive catches ,,,He lives on the Estero River with a couple boats but he says Estero Bay is for fun and just chilling on the water and when he is Fishing he only goes Down South to the 10k Islands like you have been doing lately ,,, Definitely the Best Fishing down here in SwFla
Propose at 10K subs! Love your content man! Everything about your videos are soooo good! Keep up the great work!
Haha maybe! Thanks brother, means a lot

I’m a huge fan of
Beautiful video, and great theme, I struggle a little on very windy days, and with Very light lures, the temptation is to get a DC reel
Just gotta tuck away from the wind. That’s what we did today!
@@christian_masterson, and what a place, it’s beautiful, your videos are of great image quality, great job Sir
Thanks man

Nice. I use both and in the winter I think slower preso in the BC might be the key.
I think so too

That’s some awesome info. Nails go into the fluke correct? May be more discreet then the weighted worm hook
