It might be helpful to anyone watching this who might not know what she was talking about when she was explaining the "C. Difficile" infection she experienced. C. Diff is an infection in your bowels caused by a bacteria (she said virus, so I wanted to clarify that). It is an infection which is most commonly caused by weakened immune system and a disruption to the normal bacteria of the digestive system. If, for example, someone has another infection, the antibiotics they take to treat that illness can kill healthy bacteria in the body, which allows other bacteria to overgrow, which in turn upsets the balance and can cause a secondary infection to occur. It is often considered a hospital acquired infection, but it is still possible to get C. Diff outside of the hospital.

I was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma (in my sternum) in Sept 2019 (I’m a little older though... I was 37.) The world completely shifts in those moments you’re told “they found something”. All they told me was there was a malignancy in my bone but they didn’t know what type. The biopsy results took 13 (13!!) days to come back. It was a dark time. Darker than I care to remember. Also had a birthday during those 13 days. What a happy birthday! The first thing I did when I got home from the hospital was go straight to TH-cam to look for anyone who went through it. These patient stories are EVERYTHING. Whether it’s those of us going through it or those who have a loved one going through it. Or even just those who just want to gain awareness. Being a patient yourself, it’s completely apparent in all of your questions that you know to ask because you’ve been there and you know what questions arise within your own brain and heart when you’re faced with this. Thank you for the work you’re doing. It’s quite incredible. And wishing you all the best in your health! ❤️

    C. Difficult can be hospitalized acquired but it could occur after a course of antibiotics. It is an infection of the GI tract because the normal flora is out of balance.
