Kenworth 963 cant climb hills.... Or can it? SnowRunner Season 10

- Theres some talk online about the new Kenworth 963 which was added to SnowRunner in Season 10 Fix & Connect saying that it cannot climb hills, even when it has no cargo. I put this claim to the test.

Happens to me too,with cargo it can barely crawl up hill.
If i buy a map this hard and this is the best unique truck it has to offer with all best possible upgrades i was robbed.
stock tyres are the best :)
The truck you have in real life is a power house why they tone them down as much as they do
I had it loaded with medium logs, and it couldn't climb a moderate hill. I'm not asking for speed, I'm asking for it to be competent. Pretty much every Russian truck outperforms it in every way.

Add mud, and it'll stop dead, especially with logs. I'm not convinced.
I love this truck. I don’t know why everyone thinks something has to be fast to be good in this game. This truck has been amazing with the stock 71in wheels for me, and I use the 3 slot with a crane and trailer quite common. This thing is pretty unstoppable in the bog

Because not everybody has 2 hours to do one mission. Especially when the devs make other (russian) trucks that can do the job 5x faster.
@@KurNorock you’re saying I have all the time in the world? Just try playing the game to relax dude, you can quit any time, you don’t have to reach some checkpoint. Plus I suppose it’s suggestive, some of the 8x8 Russian trucks are decent but I’ve gotten more stuck with those and more tipped over with tayga’s than I ever have with this. It’s a massive truck that has great stance and clearance so it hardly ever wants to tip. I’m not saying it’s not underpowered. But these trucks aren’t even that fast in real life lol. They’re just hardcore and incredibly reliable

2. The game made the Russian trucks objectively better than the American trucks on average.
3a. This truck is actually much faster in real life.
3b. Power and speed are not the same thing. When you see these trucks in real life hauling heavy weight they are moving slow for safety, not because they can't go any faster. And they certainly don't completely stall out while climbing a hill.
@@KurNorock I literally said “I’m not saying it’s not underpowered”. Even still, I don’t have a problem with its speed, you make that a point about it, but in real life it’s TOP SPEED is 40 MPH bro. It already gets close to hitting that in game. You look up any real pictures of this thing the only way it’s getting on the highway is on the back of a trailer. Plus just like real life the suspension is super stiff, the only “suspension” really is just the balloon tires, a very stiff truck. Plus hardly any of the trucks in the game can go their actual highway speed, even if they can get up there, you’ll be running off the road in no time and a lot of the time when you’ve just got it shoved in High, it digs to China in the mud. The game physics literally don’t like speed. I havent gotten stuck once yet with the KW. but I have tipped her over once and I’ve already got about 25ish playtime hours with it. Idk what you’re doing, if you’re so worried about speed maybe you should just get some mods. obviously we have different ways we play. You can keep doing you, I’ll keep doing me 👍🏻
The 612, 963, and p12 aren't even meant for steep hill or heavy offroad terrain. The 612, rl counter part was used to carry pipes, missles and other cargo in muddy roads and solid ground. The 963 and pacific can do offroading as well but their work is for oil field operations, sand, and light to medium offroading. They are all giant because they need to be overbuilt and durable. Basically the people that whine about them dont know that just because they are big trucks doesn't mean they are gonna be op offroad monsters.

@@steveder3233they are fine as long you don't try to take them up extreme hills, I've used the P12 for almost every heavy haul mission in the game and it equipped with the OHD 1 tires does great as long as you don't take it up a steep hill. Plan your routes accordingly and it does just fine
@@epsteindidntoffhimself5002Well considering the P16, and P12 ran 12v71T detroit diesels and an unimaginably low ratio in the ring and pinion gears, the fact these trucks struggle with carrying a semi heavy load up a hill you’re wrong. Torque doesn’t exist in this game, so don’t compare anything you see to any irl truck.
I really appreciate this practical test.
I took the 963 up that same slope double loaded with metal beams, never a problem. It's possibly due to a new patch update though.
Turning off AWD might help with power

Hey great video. I did some similar testing though using metal beams as the cargo as it is 2 tonnes heavier than the cargo container (5t and 3t respectively). The Kenworth does struggle a bit more and can't quite make it up there with the beams though I found the suspension to cause a bit of trouble as the travel distance of it is quite short so it can lift the rear wheels off the ground in some of the small divets on the ski slope.
Still very capable overall as realistically nobody is actually hauling cargo like this or up slopes like this!
As a side note, the Azov Atom got 3/4 of the way up the hill in high gear alone before having to change to Low beating the 605R and Mastodon easily.
To me it feels like the engine RPM is too low. Veing a 2stroke diesel it should be higher
I think a good comparison would have been between the KW and the Paystar 5600 since it can also be set up with a 3 slot flatbed, crane, and tow a trailer. (which is all the KW really brings to the party)
I've been comparing them and in most ways the KW seems inferior. It's got a lot more fuel, but it's so slow (especially in mud) that it burns off it's fuel advantage pretty quick in bad terrain.
I never ran into fuel trouble using the Kenny in BC. I tried to like the Paystar 5600 but its fuel usage is just way too much. Its a lot more thirsty than the Kenworth, I tend to use the Paystar as a support fuel truck which solves that problem.
It would be interesting to see the times of a truck like the International 5070 or White Western towing a 5 slot semi trailer up the same hill.
in that situation its not the speed but the torque of the truck and in mud its the same thing these truck are slow but they can go anywhere without trouble
It goes up because there no rocks
Rocks do tend to trip up the Kenworth when carrying a heavy load, I think it could do with a better engine, its power to weight ratio is a little low but its so much fun to drive I've been using it loads in the new maps
All I know is the mastodon is the only non mod truck I’ve tried “pluck the suck truck” that’s been able to pull the derry up the hill without having to go down river.

AWD off so full power is on the back. I´ve no problems with kenworth at all.. Go H as long as possible and change to L+ while AWD off..... ya´ll need to know how to drive it :)
Repeat test with stock tyres, have seen videos with less capable tyres and it climbs better

24:20, man it drives me crazy to watch you not shifting in the bloody lower gear ffs ;D.
If you ever went uphill with a cycle and shift down to late, you know how hard it is to get going again, so why would you let it stall and dig in the ground when your seeing it struggle the whole time in the mid low gear. Just go slower in a lower gear but steady.

I had the new crane on the 963 and got stuck on a slight incline
Yeah it wasnt meant to be fair its just comparing the two newest heavy trucks that also have similar attachment options. The new crane is insanely heavy compared to the old ones and the Kenworth is the heaviest truck in the game with an already relatively low power to weight ratio. It seems to really struggle with heavy loads and that crane is too much for it.

I don't own the Mastodon, but I like both of the season 10 trucks, their the only base trucks I have in my garage, unfortunately, it's my understanding that saber isn't going to allow mod versions, so I won't use them very often

I got 5 kenworth 963 they will climb 15.0L motor an I use LOW + up hills just letter eat an I have advanced everything on all mine
I think you could have used normal zikz bed for the kenwoorth climb when you were using a two slot cargo
9:00 it cant climb a unrealisticly steep hill loaded witch heavy cargo, what a bad Truck ;D.
Seriously its my favorit Truck and slow and steady wins the game. I dont like when people overload Trucks and drive them in unrealistic ways. For me this game is relaxing and time doesnt matter to much. But i love seeing those diffs work and tyres struggling with grip as it should be in some of the situations in snowrunner.

On the one hand I think if the Kenworth was an S tier for power it would be amazing, it definitely has a relatively low power to weight ratio compared to some other trucks in the game. But then if it was an S tier for power it would be considered "overpowered" due to its versatility and it would probably be the best truck in the game at that point. As always in SnowRunner its about balance.
