AES 67 Ravena is an existing standard that will move 32 ch. of 11.2 mhz DSD today via Cat 6 Gigabit ethernet, either copper or fiber. It would be cool to see that as a standard for moving Audio around home equipment instead of just pro equipment.
I do remember those old times audiophiles asked why some CD players sound better if it’s digital. In the 90’s I’ve read somewhere in Stereophile magazine digital is all the same ‘till you trying to convert it to analogue. The question ‘why it’s so’ is kinda complicated for audiophiles without deep fundamental knowledges in that area. Just take it as it is))
@@r423fplip That is a generalization that can be true or not depending on the DAC. A higher end DAC may have an isolator and a reclocker built in. If so, your point is valid and the air lens might be redundant. But many will not.
If galvanic is so important, why can't we connect an iPhone to a DAC via FiberOptic ? There are simple device that connect and convert from iPhone lighting to TosLink or Coax. No noisy 110V power involvement at all. Jusy my battery operated cell phone , right ?
So where is the AirLens streamer these days? Could find no such product on your site, not even much mention, except when speaking of a discontinued Octave Records streamer .....
I still have a vintage enlightened audio designs dsp-9000 pro series 3 that uses at&t fibre. I think bel canto that lets you go from usb to at&t into a dac. Not many interfaces like that out there .
i have connected my daily pc to my AV system this way i can enjoy good sound in different scenarios all day long. From all connections available in my set up /HDMI,RCA and optical/ i choose optical SPDIF from PC to receiver for best quality
When streaming lossless music (FLAC or other), the original music data can easily arrive bit-perfect at the DAC with no errors or conversions when the app is made with sufficient care. Neither jitter hurting the sample timing or digital noise leaking into the analog output are problems that should ever be a concern with just the basic of proper engineering done. I’m confident PS audio can support most excellent audio streaming exceeding CD or even SACD quality. Streaming is here to stay and also here to deliver the best in audiophile performance.
Why don't you just continue to use AT&T glass? It's still a thing, and is still used today for audio by companies like Playback Designs, and Ed Meitner at EMM Labs.
Finally someone not trying to convince me that a TCP package is different depending on how you transmit it. There are so many snake oil sellers out there that try to explain how jitter on an ethernet network can end up in your DAC, which is just stupid. Thanks a lot for not making your streamer any miracle box!
I'm not convinced that an optical connection like Toslink is superior to USB. Unlike USB, Toslink lacks built-in error correction. The signal is transmitted as is, meaning any interference or drops in signal quality-caused by factors such as cable bending or distance limitations-can result in audio dropouts or diminished quality. In contrast, USB uses packet-based transmission with error correction protocols, allowing it to detect and resend corrupted data packets. This ensures a more reliable and consistent audio experience.
Umm Is this absolutely true? The "noise" is normally below the hearing range of 120dB Sound "quality" per se , as far as I know , cannot be measured . It is subjectively compared on an A B listening test.
Some DACs may isolate sound better then others, but what many people don’t want to honestly talk about is that they are still not worth thousands of dollars, and more importantly you are not getting 2,3 or even 6 thousand percent increase in sound quality! Most listeners cannot tell the difference between a lossy and lossless stream. These differences are minuscule at best, and sure there may be a subtle difference, but it surely is not that big statistically that companies can charge that much more for a product. WiiM and Eversolo have proven that many companies have overpriced streamers!
I have linns new top of the range organic streamer .I have been to hifi show and listened to others , cheaper and dearer and it is like night and day , it sounds like music while the others sound like stereos , no feeling to the music in my opinion anyway
@@hughkleinsc8949 Odd to compare the streamer in your system to ones used in completely different systems and rooms and draw a clear conclusion about just the streamers. Galvanic isolation is one. The other one is reclocking the data so the dac has to make less effort to do witch reduces the noise off the dac
Modern dacs don't care about clock and noise. You only have to look at the numbers to see that.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the video.

PS audio using Innuos on their music room 2. It’s on all their videos.
