Buy Me A Coffee is a great way for anyone, anywhere in the world, to contribute to the channel, and future videos, or if you just want to buy me a coffee, tea, pork pie, or chicken vindaloo. Cheers buymeacoffee.com/countryhousegent
Thankyou will watch next week's IV enjoyed it again . twenty years apart in ages. But have loved it. Will watch til the end and then your coming narrow boat videos. Please take care. Will watch next week's.
The Earl’s Castle at Birsay was a brilliant find...quite serendipitous. It always seems like those unexpected & interesting spots pop up just when you’re about to fulfill a 42-year-old bucket list quest.😁 Wishing you a fantastic Christmas🎄 & New Year, Kevin…cheers!
Thanks once again Kevin, another great instalment of the epic journey to look around the corner and over the hill. Have a great Christmas just the way you choose. We’ll all be here when you get back. Mike
Compliments of the season to you Kev. I am very impressed with you ticking off the school boy humour road sign from your bucket list 😏 (now there’s an idea for a future trip - visit all the places in UK with desperately adult and mature names).
I have been enjoying this series so thank you again for a Friday installment. Your planning, camera work and editing lend themselves to whatever you want to film. Happy Christmas 🎉
You have a new fan. Our 9 week old Labrador pup Hank loves your videos! Not sure if it’s the scenery rolling by or your voice, but he watches very intently. Might have to try him out on a pork pie when he’s a little older!
Merry Christmas Kevin! The tour of Earl of Orkney's palace of Birsay was a real treat! I like the fact that you capture (and center/frame/compose) the historical AND photographic highlights. Thanks for the mini documentary! Robert Stewart, Earl of Orkney, "notorious" (aside from being a bastard?) I guess it was his presumption of right of domain or lineage. To become that wealthy, one has to be manipulative. Hasn't changed except for scale. And "Black Patie"... cudgeled his way through life. "Well, well, well". LMAO. I am left wondering about what they burned to warm and cook in that giant "Great Hall Kitchen." Wouldn't have been wood, nor coal (?).... for peat's sake what did they burn? I have heard you talk about a fishing trawler... and notice you noticing them when you pass a particularly well-bedecked vessel on your motorcycle tours. Might that be a future venture? I have long affiliated with everything ocean. Even on land... I have to be near the coast. A small trawler with a dependable drive train (turbo-diesel motor)... that or a belgian sailboat... 38' x 8.5'.... ah one can dream. Orkney, apparently, is large enough to have industry and large urban centers... that was a surprise. Loved the ending... with the street musician. Cheers... and again.. Merry Christmas from Mississippmas.
How wonderful to have roads with little or no traffic on, wish it was the same in the Midlands! . I often wonder when seeing a house completely in the middle of nowhere, what they do for a living & what they would do in an emergency 🤔🦆💕. Have a relaxing Xmas and all good things next year
Have a great Christmas 🎄🎄 thoroughly enjoyable vlogs and scenery you've done so well to cover so much distance in the days you've ridden it must be very tiring. Well done so far!
Really enjoying this road trip of Scotland, was in Shetland and Orkneys a few years back. Other towns with off-beat names would be Intercourse in Pennsylvania USA, in heart of Amish Country and popular selfie spot, and of course F**king, Austria, which is now apparently called Fugging! Anyway, have a great Christmas
Fascinating city name. I live neat 2 towns named Intercourse and the town of Blueball. Yep 👍 Cheers Kevin. Oh do you ever have dogs chase your bike? 😮 Charlie from Pennsylvania 😊
Ha, I've heard of Intercourse - BBC's Top Gear stopped there in one episode years ago. They had a right giggle. I did have a sheep dog run at me from the side. Scared the living daylights out of me. Thank you so much Charlie for your viewership throughout the year and a peaceful restful Christmas to you.
Lurvely red stone. The palace was impressive and nicely designed, by the looks of it. I'd have chosen Lidl, myself, having shopped at both in the days when Tesco was racing to the bottom. that was 20 years ago tho, so I guess they've changed.
Hey! Hey! Hey! It's Friday! 745 miles!!!!!😯 It has been such fun to ride along. Exceptional scenery. I am guessing you will return to Aslan and re-orient/orient and think about the next travels? After a winter's break or so of course. It's a lot of work to put these amazing trips together and so appreciated. As much fun and different the bike ride has been I do look forward to catching up with Aslan and hearing her calming chug, chug again. Stay safe out there, Season's wishes to you, Happy New Year and Cheers from Seattle!🎄🎉
That road sign reminds me of the name of a female traitor from WW2. After ww2 she settled in Sweden and married again getting a new surname, but kept the first, so she was named: Kitty Grande Fitte. The last name has the same meaning as the road sign.
Do you plan on changing the oil and filter yourself as you do on Aslan? When you're back home? I love this series. I need to get to do Scotland on my bike , you have been lucky with the weather there. Safe riding. Excellent content as usual
Thank you Rod, great to hear the series is being enjoyed. I change the oil and filter myself every 6000 miles and in fact changed it before starting the road trip. Either way I change it every year whether I've done 6000 miles or not. You'll have a blast riding around Scotland.
I have a question for anyone in the states that may have sent Kevin a contribution through “ Buy me a coffee”. I’m curious about extra charges . Specifically if there are any with it being international. Any guidance would be appreciated! I’m hoping it’s straight forward without hidden charges.
Excellent! I always look forward to my Friday teatime viewing. As you have an interest in place names that begin and end in T, you may appreciate this song written by Geordie singer/songwiter Pete Scott (sadly no longer with us, but his music lives on). th-cam.com/video/1-R8BHwsmFg/w-d-xo.html For good measure here's a link of my cover of it too! th-cam.com/video/51l9XX2IQ_k/w-d-xo.html I've never made it to Orkney or Shetland so am really enjoying the latter stages of your trip. 🤩

That country was made for motorcycles, amazing, Enjoying the series......
I don't ride motorcycles, but you are correct. A bike ride up there would be nice too
Thank you, Kevin! Always enjoyable, liked the trip to the ruins, and the humor!
Excellent work. We all must strive to meet our goals in life no matter how long it takes. Congratulations on finding yours. 👍
Thank you
Gads you guys , you remind of my brother 😂
@@joanmccarty6445Kevin wanted to find Twat, I wanted to see the Mona Lisa. 😂. I’m in Australia.
@@joanmccarty6445 My goal was to see the Mona Lisa. Finally did it at the age of 68.
Ah the Mona Lisa. That's one I must add to the list. Is it as distracting as they make out?
Thanks for bringing us along, what a beautiful country! 😊
This was especially nice with the stop at the castle for some history and some lovely cows along with the beautiful scenery! Thanks again!!!!
It was quite the old castle. Thank you so much for watching over the year and a merry Christmas to you.
Looking forward to seeing Kirkwall, looks like a pleasant bustling town. Really enjoying following your trip Kevin.
Have a great Christmas Kevin. Best wishes for a fabulous New Year! I love honesty boxes, such a lovely British tradition. Remember the cake boxes!

There so many farmers good to see feed people
That was great! I’d be taking a selfie in front of that sign too. Not above scatological humor either! 😂😂
Thought Travels By Narrowboat was first class, but Motorcycle Road Trips might be even better! Merry/Happy Christmas to you!
Very pleased to hear that Chris, thank you. Festive best wishes to you.
Compliments of the season to you Kev. I am very impressed with you ticking off the school boy humour road sign from your bucket list 😏 (now there’s an idea for a future trip - visit all the places in UK with desperately adult and mature names).
Aha, yes that is an idea. Britain certainly has a good selection of naughty place names. Best of season's wishes to you. 🙂

I thought you were searching for " Fokkers Gill " instead of the Scandinavian-Clearing Meadow? The First Roads in Orkney were built in the 1760's

A “must see” on Orkney that impressed me was the Italian Chapel.
Thanks for sharing Kev.

I think the signs keep getting robbed, probably why you can't find any 😂
I don't think you're wrong. Quite the wall decoration. 😁
Merry Christmas Kevin

Good to see you didn't resist temptation in, what's the name of that town again? I didn't quite catch it.

Hate it when the tea rooms are closed 😂 happy holidays Kevin. Is it weird I miss the chug chug of Aslan to this day?
The sign you sought is at the junction of A986 and A967, you rode right past it
😅 Many people who visit Newfoundland make a special trip to the town of Dildo. They would understand you!🤭
In an August, 30 some years back, my pals and I went to Fundy on a bike trip. It was the coldest trip I ever made on a motorcycle.
😆 Well that's a new addition to the bucket list. 😆
Was that Curly Watts (Coronation St) busking at the end? He must have fell on hard times. 😅😅
Do you plan on changing the oil and filter yourself as you do on Aslan? When you're back home?

Where do you live, which must have produced many concealed 🤭smiles 😂
I hadn't thought of that. Imagine giving your address over the phone. 😳🤭
I rather think I would like Twatt

Hi. There's no extra charges to make a contribution on Buy Me A Coffee from anywhere in the world. Cheers 🙂
Same horrible cookie cutter houses in the states. So ugly and have to turn sideways to walk between them lol even being a small person
