Hey, this is me again ;)
Let's start from the most important thing - my name ;) The problem is that this name is not "compatible" with English :P maybe I could explain it by writing "Noh-ahm" :P Hebrew has only five vowels, so try to read "noam" in the most basic way you can ;)
    and for the music!
I didn't pick the song because it has "sister/sistah", but it might be in my sub-conscience ;)
Post Orgasmic Chill is by far my favorite (or favourite ;) ** ) album by them. and I think this song is the best to introduce the album.
Here's the story of how I came to know this band :)
I was in a vacation in Italy, with my family. We were in a pool with water from hot springs. I can't even remember if I was in the water or outside, but I heard a cool tune from the TV there. I hurried to look and see the name of the artist/song. I saw it and remembered "Anais". That was enough for TH-cam to find Skunk Anansie :) It's was a single from their comeback compilation (this was one of the three previously unreleased songs on it) - "Because of You". I heard it and loved it. Later I was bored with this song and focused mostly on Post Orgasmic Chill ;)
I have no idea about the lyrics, as usual :P I need someone else to explain.
** I spell "favorite" when I write to someone from the USA, and "favourite" when it's for UK/Australia :P that's not my language anyway ;)

Ok so we already shot the Igorrr reaction so your name will be wrong there too sorry, but I promise we'll get it right when we do the Gathering lol! After watching the video again I think it's about child abuse. Perhaps the phrase refers to the Dad imposing his power over the kids.

In the mid '90's, in Denver we went to a small theater to see a band I can't remember the name of, but I do remember Skunk Anansie opening for them. They blew the lid off the roof!

Skunk Anansie are touring again, for their 25th anniversary.
"Charlie Big Potato" is a British phrase for someone who acts like they are more important/tougher than they actually are.
Deborah Dyer is Skin's real name.

Skunk Anansie are amazing. And they are still touring. I watched them in Brixton, London, just last month. I go to one of their gigs every time they're touring because I know it's gonna be great. Her voice is phenomenal live. To give you an idea of how underrated they are (even in the UK) Paul Weller (of The Jam) arrived on stage just to sing one song with her. When you have a rock legend like that guy wanting to make a surprise appearance just for one song, at their gig, you know how respected they are. I'm not a patron but I would like to suggest you check out "Secretly", that'll give you an idea of how amazing her voice is and how diverse they are as a band. The video for Secretly is also pretty great :).

Skin is Lovely to talk to but i din't you'd ever want to be on her bad side, lol.
I believe this song is about abuse, basically the abuse revealing he control he has over his victim. Charlei isnt the person name as more their persona and how they present themselves. Dark as you say but there's not many subjects they don't tackle. Hope that helps and please check out more of their stuff as they are still making music and touring.

I compare this to "Zombie" by the Cranberries... a really heavy song compared to the band's typical sound, and often the first song a potential fan hears. The fan either falls in love with the band, or rejects the rest of their songs for not sounding like the heavy one. It's unfortunate so many miss out on the great music cause they're only looking for a single sound.

MY top 3 tunes are Charity, Intellectualise My Blackness, and Selling Jesus. Skin, the lead singer, did a great duet with Lajon and Sevendust with Licking Cream from their album Home. Recently got the Live 25 cd. It's an excellent Live 2 CD set in which Charlie Big Potato kicks it off. Great vocals, lyrics and musicianship. My wife always asks why you don't hear, Skunk, Tracy Chapman, Noisettes on Black Radio Stations??? Anyway, thanks for doing this, and I hope you dig a bit deeper into their catalog. Peace!!! Haha, no. My first musicgasm was so long ago; I was a child. I have always had an emotional response to music; however, heavy metal music took it to the next level. My first musicgasm from heavy music was Cradle of Filth. Although, I cried to songs from SOAD, Slipknot, Muse and Linkin Park, Cradle of Filth, made me feel something different. Hard to explain. Megadeth "Holy Wars" (which you won't find on youtube anymore, since I hid it xD) was the song that opened me up even more; from that, music just... felt different. :) ♥

Thank you for the Skunk Anansie reaction and analysis! I bought their debut album ’Paranoid and sunburnt’ in 1995 and I still listen to some of its songs sometimes. The version of the band I’m familiar with started out as a funk and soulinfluenced alternative rock band with a metallic edge. Their singer skin has a really unique voice and precense. If you haven’t them i recommend their earlier songs ’Weak’, ’Charity’ and ’Brazen (Weep)’. Ps I like your stylish dress HalfLifeSistah and for getting really into the music. Skin’s voice definitely is something else :) Ds

You should do some more Skunk Anansie reactions. Skin is a mega talented singer, she's collaborated with many artists including Bjork, Tony Iommi and even sang with Pavarotti. 🤘

Watched them live 2 years ago, and not only it was one of the best live performances i've ever watched (if not the best) but i can confirm that Debora Dyer is still, to this day, probably, the best female voice and singer ever in a Rock band.

skunk anansie are great and if you like this, you will like prolly most of their stuff over the decades that band is around. their 90s stuff is grand and so is their latest albums as well.

This song I first learned from the hollow man movie and it became my ringtone for many years.

Just compare their reactions: they were both listening but only she could "hear" it...
