In the case of many sons and daughters, it is literally built into their DNA. Not necessarily the skill, but the introspective nature and the study of others, the curiosity and drive to have a voice, and to have it heard. The skill however was taught at home and at fine schools. The Steinbeck home was filled with books and music. Thomas Steinbeck read 2-3 books a week and loved history, or as he called it, "...the study of mankind." It is very much the same thing for musicians. The way we raise our children matters. Books and music allow us to reach into the depths of our mind and find not only our hearts, but our souls, and our moral compass.
The Silver Lotus and Down to a Soundless Sea are books I read again and again for sensory experiences.
You are so kind.
