Well people have asked if Stealth was gonna do any massive battles, I believe this makes up for that. Unfortunately I don't think such a battle would do anyone's PC any good
Having played as Austria-Hungary And Faced a French Armada of 87 Ships of all Types... With a Force of 8 Battleships and 10 Heavy Crusiers and 5 DD's... I destroyed every enemy vessel and lost only a single DD... The FPS was 20... My PC is no Slouch... Cause I can play any game out there and expect 80+ Fps at the Least... This Game is Rough on the CPU and GPU... Cause of all the Physics that are Running.
Jeez imagine being on the British side, here you are an armada of 48 ships mainly heavy and light cruisers against the largest battleships and most advanced battle cruisers of the time, and as the battle rages for hours and hours it becomes clear that you wont win, sure you exploded one of the most massive BB's of the time and one of those cruisers and few destroyers but all that remains of a once 48 strong fleet is now but 1 humble destroyer, it's crew now haunted by visions of a ocean turned black and red.
It was pretty much fore-ordained the Brits would lose this one. They only had two capital ships (one BB and one BC) against thirteen of yours (9 BB & 4 BC). Yeah, they had a ton of cruisers, but those things can't stand up to capital ships. If the AI had aggressively charged you and tried to reduce your forces with a concentrated wave of torpedoes they might have been able to win, but the AI doesn't do that - it sends in its forces in dribs and drabs, letting you knock them out one at a time. Impressive engagement in terms of numbers, but the outcome was a foregone conclusion before you even hit "start."
@@eligibledock5073 Yes, true, but I think you're missing my point. In this particular battle the AI's biggest advantage was their numerical superiority coupled with the fact that most of their (very numerous) cruisers were heavily armed with torpedoes. Any moderately intelligent human player in that situation would have rushed those ships directly in at the enemy (German) fleet a best speed and then launched torpedoes at as many different targets as possible all at the same time, effectively flooding the battlespace with torpedoes coming from so many different angles that the Germans wouldn't have been able avoid everything and would have at least suffered heavy damage to a lot of ships. This is the problem with the AI in combat - it doesn't do a realistic assessment of what it's advantages are, or what the player's disadvantages are, and thus makes no effort to exploit those situations to its advantage. Instead there seems to be a spur-of-the-moment calculation done for each of its ships to act independently (never as a cohesive task force) engaging whatever target the algorithm decides is the most "threatening" foe, and realizing this it's almost ridiculously easy for the player to "game the system" and win what should be at best difficult, if not impossible, engagements. The devs seem to have settled on the idea that since they can't come up with a more effective AI they'll just give the AI more money and more ships in the hope that it will present the player with something approaching a challenge. But as we've seen Stealth demonstrate time and time again, lots of crappy ships being used ineffectively is no challenge for a good (even heavily distracted, with narrating and filming duties) player.
@@MisterMac4321 spot on analysis. The least the devs could do is permanently lock the AI ships in a div. Watching random cruisers make a beeline into the teeth of the capital ship doesn't make much for challenge. if it hadn't been for torpedo stealth would have walked away from this battle pretty much damage free. In real life I figured the least the cruisers could have done is make a bonsai charge and dump every torpedo and shell they have from as close as possible.
All your new 18.9" ships have trained crews vs. the veteran crews on your older battleships. Makes quite a difference in accuracy and reload (amongst other things).
Agreed , Also the 16.9s are mark 3 or 4 and the 18.9s are only mark 1, stealth you are always saying there's no challenge, that the game is too easy, why not make it more challenging by using the big gun's and use less HE on all gun's :)

Wow... just... wow! What an absolutely epic battle! The Admiral's contacts have reported that the British First Sea Lord is having to answer for his utter and complete failure and he is not expected to ever be heard from again. Meanwhile the British population rises against their leaders, demanding peace with Germany so that they may feed their families. But not so fast, the Admiral will decide their fates.
Basically, if you design every ship in UAD like a Bismarck, youre definetly gonna end up with a good ship, cuz the Bismarck class was one of the most well designed classes for non carrier battles, their armor was massive, their speed relatively good, their guns absolutely perfect and a good amount of secondaries. The Bismarck class battleship/cruisers (they can kinda be called BCs because they had a good speed and strong guns) are just absolutely good and can nearly always guarantee a win
In my Personal Analysis, the "Big Guns Doctrine" is a hit for some ships and a miss for others. Most Noteworthy for me were not the Battleships, but the Heavy Cruisers. 11.9" CA's are remarkably versatile. They have proven themselves efficient workhorses and have been able to go toe to toe with Battleships. DD's also seem to work very well when go out all out on gunsize. I found that with the proper armament, they make CL's basically obsolete. Who really suffered were the later Battleships. 15-16" seems to be the sweetspot for Battleship guns, regardless of mark or era. Part of that is the fact that seemingly any armour can block pretty much any shell with enough luck. CA' s and CL's with single digits of armour, should not be able to block 18.9" shells in ANY scenario. Furthermore it really seems like flat gun sizes like the 15" of the Mars Class seem to outperform the maximised gun calibers for some reason.
Multiple same name for DDs happens when you have refit version of design and you build new base ship (I had V-1 and renamed V-1a - V-1f to deal with confusion).
If anything make torpedo detonations on Deck as devastating as they were in real life. You shouldn't be able to sail a ship into the teeth of the enemy that has the equivalent of a battleships worth of explosive sitting on its deck
Not finished the video yet, but based on the performance of the 18.9” guns, I vote you replace the big guns turret for turret with quad 13.5”/50s to thumb your nose at both the French and the British.
Imagine being a captain of a CL having like 8 5 inch guns and fighting one of these massive BBs. You whole ship has less guns than one side of secondaries. Even if the 18.9 don't hit you if the go off 50m next to you you will eat some shrapnel...
Once you have more than 5 ships in a div, it really seems like the AI has no freaking clue how to steer them. Also, the constant maneuvers of torpedo avoidance mode absolutely tank accuracy. Maneuvers in general seem to drop accuracy a lot, especially on the 18.9"s, when you ordered Beowulf to turn right before it fired, accuracy went from over 70% to 20-ish.
I just had a match against the austro-hungrians as the british and the same thing happen where they combined their entire fleet into one task group(64 ships) and attacked three of my british ships. One BB with a nelson design, armed with 13.9" guns, and one additional turret on the stern(X/ABC) . One BC that is basically a flipped Brooklyn class with three rear 15.9" guns and two on the bow(ZXY/AB layout). And a CA, a copy of the Baltimore Class crusiers with 10.9" guns(X/AB). Everything was going perfect, I was at about 200k damage to their 5kish damage. When both my BC and CA glitched out, guns locked and unable to aim. Ended up losing both the CA and BC since they were defenseless, but my BB came through doing nearly 400k damage by itself sinking about ~30 ships. could have easily killed the whole fleet had the guns not glitched out on my other two ships. >.< hopefully you dont come aross this gitch as well! Cheers! PS just got my mug, which was confusing for my gf as i dont drink coffee or tea, but as a whiskey cup it shall do just fine!
If you are going to use anything bigger than 16-inch you want to have them be single barrelled turrets to act as snipers. Single barrelled turrets should reload quicker.
(39:04) "For some reasons I have two ships called "V-16". It's leading to a lot of confusion." Isn't it possible to rename the ships?? German destroyers could be called "Z"+number+Person Name. (56:45) "This is an hour-long battle! I haven't done any building, I haven't done any designing, I haven't done much chatter outside on the strategic map..." I absolutely like the long explanations concerning this or that gun - that reminds me on some history forums with long discussions which one is more useful etc. pp. Really a nice battle! And the loss of the Beowulf ... I didn't like that ship either. Expensive, no performance, overpowered guns.
Stealth I would love to see close quarter combat doctrine in a new campaign which ever nation you want would like to see broadside fire from less then 1 km away
maybe the admiral didn't like the beowolf so much that he sent her under himself , with a bit of explosive thrown into the mag of the B turret and she was gone
Omg "at this point i am using the beowulf as a big bludgeon to push my way into the enemy division. I know this torpedo is coming in but WE WILL BE FINE!" How could this happend if you push a superheavy BB into fleet with no screens...
Awesome, slaughter of the enemy fleet. All their BBs damaged after that first big engagement, and now so many cruisers destroyed. Time is ticking, for them.
I just thought about it, with all the stuff that has been added since the campaign came out, maybe, if you ever start running out of new ideas for the campaigns, you could bring back some of the old campaign themes and redo them with the new stuff?
For future campaign if you are going to play anybody other than the British maybe use metric system. It might add additional twist to your designs. (Or use metric especially if you play the British and role play some confused engineer)
If I may, ADHD battle management does not work once you get up to the size of a legitimate task force. You will miss a lot of things going on, you will take a LOT more damage than you should. What I do is simplify it immediately. Battle starts, all 16 DDs in a division, all 16 CLs in a division, and both of those battle line it out to find the enemy with radar. All 8 CAs in a division, battle line it out then turn and screen the battleships once the enemy is found. All 4 BCs in a divison, follow the BBs, all 8 BB in a division gives you 5 divisions to work with. Turn off torpedo and ship avoidance, and everybody now moves in a line just like they should. Once the enemy is spotted, DDs and CLs dump your torpedoes and return to screen, and the rest is all just letting them choose their own targets. Result - with that size force, I faced 165 Germans split into two fleets, each engaging one of these forces. I scrapped 165 ships and lost none. 2 DDs were forced to retreat from the 2nd fight and one of my BBs caught a random lucky hit from an 18.9 inch gun. But I lost no ships. And the KM was reduced to 10 ships. In two battles in one month. 1947.
Furthermore, I have used nothing bigger than straight up 14 inchers, highly accurate with a reload time of 46 seconds. But my torpedo range is 14km +, the light cruiser alone can spam 25 torpedoes in a single run. Times 16. That makes a real mess of the enemy formation. They'll be dodging 400 torpedoes just from the light cruisers. In the first battle I did about 600k damage while taking 9 hits for 365 dmg. Lost 13 crew. Mostly from cardiacs when the big guns opened up and they had no clue the enemy was out there. Both battles took place in horrific weather conditions which my fleet ignores.
At this point I think the devs need to either lock divisions permanently or lock smaller ships in to screen because this s*** is ridiculous. The British should never have lost that battle for the fact that the Germans didn't have enough guns to shoot at all of them at the same time. But because AI ships love to make a big death stack any half competent admiral can pick the fleet apart. I really want to like the game but it's almost to the point it would be better to simulate the battles or cap them at five ships each. (No disrespect to you stealth you do as good as you can for what you have)

Mars is the God of war!
I used 17 inch guns in 1940
Beofwolf down for extreme carelessness
Multiple same name for DDs happens when you have refit version of design and you build new base ship (I had V-1 and renamed V-1a - V-1f to deal with confusion).
Jeez that was the battle there still good job on you
Phoenix sinks due to extensive fire. The only logical way for that ship to end.
Yet another awesome battle for us to enjoy! Maybe the cap-ballistic HE shell made it easier to ricochet?
He had so much hope for Beowolf to show her true might by taking a cruiser in 1 one salvo. Unfortunately, she died from one hit.
They don’t need to nerf the torpedoes, they just need to rework how the ai designs ships with torpedoes
If anything make torpedo detonations on Deck as devastating as they were in real life. You shouldn't be able to sail a ship into the teeth of the enemy that has the equivalent of a battleships worth of explosive sitting on its deck
Not finished the video yet, but based on the performance of the 18.9” guns, I vote you replace the big guns turret for turret with quad 13.5”/50s to thumb your nose at both the French and the British.
if i remember correctly wasn't HMS Hermes a CV/CVL (Aircraft Carrier)
i am saying this becuz it was sunk in the video
The game generally don't match ship names to respective ship classes
Can you do some of those legendary matchup videos once this campaign is finished, like an H-44 vs an A-150
Imagine being a captain of a CL having like 8 5 inch guns and fighting one of these massive BBs. You whole ship has less guns than one side of secondaries. Even if the 18.9 don't hit you if the go off 50m next to you you will eat some shrapnel...
42:00 - So, what you're telling me, is that the Beowulf has 5.9" primaries and 18.9" secondaries? ;)
Nicely dome.
I find it delightfully ironic that HMS Phoenix was lost due to extensive fire.
If you are going to use anything bigger than 16-inch you want to have them be single barrelled turrets to act as snipers. Single barrelled turrets should reload quicker.
You also want the longer barreled version
(39:04) "For some reasons I have two ships called "V-16". It's leading to a lot of confusion."
Isn't it possible to rename the ships?? German destroyers could be called "Z"+number+Person Name.
(56:45) "This is an hour-long battle! I haven't done any building, I haven't done any designing, I haven't done much chatter outside on the strategic map..."
I absolutely like the long explanations concerning this or that gun - that reminds me on some history forums with long discussions which one is more useful etc. pp. Really a nice battle! And the loss of the Beowulf ... I didn't like that ship either. Expensive, no performance, overpowered guns.
Is it just me, or both V-16s were in the DD division at 6:09? I think saw 1 leading, and 1 was at the end.
Nvm Stealth has noticed it after 33 mins...
This was a great episode, shame Beawolff went down. Need a 20.9 incher to call it the Big Guns campaing.
What was that, a 1/4 of the entire Brit fleet? Nicely done.
Omg
"at this point i am using the beowulf as a big bludgeon to push my way into the enemy division. I know this torpedo is coming in but WE WILL BE FINE!"
How could this happend if you push a superheavy BB into fleet with no screens...
Calm down with the condescension. I knew the risks. Wasn't expected a flashfire though. Those are pretty rare.
Awesome, slaughter of the enemy fleet. All their BBs damaged after that first big engagement, and now so many cruisers destroyed. Time is ticking, for them.
You should try building a ship with mass put into actual armour instead of other stuff like torpedo defense or crew quarters. It will work
POV you’re at Jutland and Beatty has been given command.
Die Beowolf bleibt unvergessen!
The only thing that did damage to the Beowolf before that was a Torp, so a Torp hit a magazine? Or was that an accident by the crew?
My body is ready for the 5fps gaming experience. May tech Jesus, Gamersnexus, have pitty on your cpu.
I just thought about it, with all the stuff that has been added since the campaign came out, maybe, if you ever start running out of new ideas for the campaigns, you could bring back some of the old campaign themes and redo them with the new stuff?
Want to know what's missing? About 80 to 100 Walruses...And your Arados...
I think if you are gonna stick with the big guns use 17 inch, they are not insanely large but still above average
For future campaign if you are going to play anybody other than the British maybe use metric system. It might add additional twist to your designs. (Or use metric especially if you play the British and role play some confused engineer)
Hey stealth cant watch ur vid bc im in austria and there is no wifi in the appartment but im really looking forward to watching ur vids!
Pls rebuild the Beowulf new bigger stronger with quad 16" guns pls
My god 1h video
dang man long video
I feel bad for the Beowulf tho. She was starting to grown on me :(
Pls make mars as Advanced as possible or make a mass class
RIP BeoWulf..
Almost 50,000 British sailors died...
Let's teabag the teabags
At this point I think the devs need to either lock divisions permanently or lock smaller ships in to screen because this s*** is ridiculous. The British should never have lost that battle for the fact that the Germans didn't have enough guns to shoot at all of them at the same time. But because AI ships love to make a big death stack any half competent admiral can pick the fleet apart.
I really want to like the game but it's almost to the point it would be better to simulate the battles or cap them at five ships each.
(No disrespect to you stealth you do as good as you can for what you have)
Never use Mark 1 Guns!
What's this travesty I'm hearing? Smaller cannons? ACH NEIN!!! Simply add more GUNS so each salvo covers more ground YAH?!!!
Germany 1920 Big Guns Until It Gets A Bit Difficult Then Optimum Guns Episode 29
rate of fire is king in this game until you can guarantee decent reload time on big guns they are worthless
