Just watch this good video. So I understand this is located on the floor under the glove box behind a black panel. I am glad I found this video if someone told me you had to drop the glove box and it was behind it
Good job fabricating the cover plate! The filter cost around $15 - $20 but the crazy cover plate costs over $30! You saved a lot of money. But, I would get the correct size filter because the dust will go around the edges. Good video! Thanks! My new filter and cover plate will arrive tomorrow!

would be nice to see how you cut the bottom plate out and what u used. and any problems u incounted and the plate you made. can a diy do this job as good as your???
Since you posted this over 10 months ago you probably already know by not but the filter is sealed from the factory, so you need to take a utility knife and cut off the old cover. It's not to hard since there is a groove to follow which makes it a lot easier.
she's asking about the plastic cover with 3 screws not the part where u cut the hole for the cabin filter. she meant the one you take off to get to that one you talked about
Did you measure your filter door width and length? This would give me a starting point before I start fine tuning the notch cut outs and the rounded area with the screw hole. Thanks!
Any tips on how to clean the vent system ...mine smells like the previous owner sprayed some new car smell hardcore in there (rather than cleaning) I didn't notice but the smell hits the taste buds bad...looking for any tips... would the air filter help?
That wasn’t the filter, It’s the evaporator and It mades of aluminum Unfortunately, I’m having same issue with my Yukon 2012 Anyhow, It seems that some models come without filter Feeling sorry for such a lack 😓
If you don't have a cover then there is no cabin filter inside your plenum box. Some were manufactured with and some were not. If you want dorman makes a aftermarket kit to cut out the plenum box with an opening and install the kits plastic door along with filter or filters.

I jus did it on my 12 avalanche. what a pain, to cut that rectangle out.....but I did it, bought the kit from my auto parts store.....

I used the original plastic piece I cutout as a template. Hope this helps.

More than likely it will help, the smell is probably stuck in the filter and if replaced should be less noticeable.

Recently did this to mine. I did have to cut the seal, there was no filter. I did notice another filter (aluminum) beside it. Any idea what that is?

What was the relay u replaced for ?
Heater blower relay. I had to replace mine also. Another ez job that do it your sellers can do. Videos are on here for that also
