Just do what you can when you can. The videos out and about in the field are great, there’s loads of other equipment reviewers out there, although some are really bad at it……….. Thanks for all you’ve done and shared so far.
I am with you Ben, it is not always easy especially at certain times of the year when the wildlife goes a little quiet. Just do what you enjoy and have fun. Cheers Keith
Forget about TH-cam pressure just do what you do if you like it and the audience will love it ... ads are not worth it ... you earn much of this one coffee donation as from 1k of views of your ads. Ads are just pocket money for fun ... try different method of monetisation and don't pressure yourself or try to copy other "fancy" TH-camrs out there ... cheers and happy holidays, yes I know that's kind a outdated post :).
Just do it for fun Ben. TH-cam in our days requires a lot of time, and for someone that has a busy agenda it's almost impossible to "grow fast". Keep up with the good work and most important, have fun doing it 👍.
Appreciate the honesty. Stick to doing the vids you like and enjoy doing. Be that just sharing photos/experiences or the daytrips. Dont beat yourself up or let others beat on you, at end of day you are a chap with a fulltime job, not attenborough.
Well done Ben, It's not all about the money, just the content that counts, your never going to get rich on TH-cam thats for sure . I for one won't be giving up the day job, thousands of pounds in photography losses last year ! ( just done my accounts ) One day we may be rich and famous, live the dream when time permits, keep going you have youth on your side ! It's more important to do what you enjoy even if it does take up all your spare time !
You pretty much described why I stopped making videos. It takes a *ton* of time and effort to make videos on a regular basis, the cost of the equipment, the time editing etc, and the payback is just so small. If you do the math, it would take a LOT of views to make anything like a normal wage. There's also a constant pressure to keep making better videos which is pretty unsustainable. There are plenty of guides of how to get big on youtube or whatever, but no one ever tells you how to step back. Don't be afraid to take a break from youtube or even social media altogether for a while - it will give you some perspective and you will probably realise you were more burned out than you thought.
I had wondered what happened to your channel. It's a shame to see you go you had some really unique content and I'm sure you could have grown into a much bigger channel.

Dude the vids are sick, you’ve grown and got so much better, the dream of getting a full wage from this kind of thing is a bit further down the line so don’t worry at this point, life is a journey! I think you are getting bogged down in detail that doesn't exist Ben. Many vloggers take the camera with the other camera. Set up and load up B roll. Others edit what they filmed and do narration. No vlogging. Some mix it up. But nature photography is sporadic. So no one expects regular content. Can't film what isn't there. I think you should look at how fast you went from 1000 to 1.5 and focus on the filming and if you want to or are able to, edit that footage together and post a narrated version. B roll is heavily abused padding on much of utube. But some like it. Anyway chin up you have crazy editing skills and £68.00 is proof of concept. Adverts ... what's the issue. Who doesn't. Tho I am losing my shit with the dooooominoooo hoo hoooooo one that I can't skip. 20 seconds of hell 😳🤨😑😡🤬. Yeah just chill out dude and enjoy. We do.
