Late Sarmatian Cataphracts are the reason why I now left the Pontus campaign, and sent Mithridates vi on vaca. Hello Roxo! I do apologize to Media and Parthia as well, but I gotta say, this faction is raw, beautiful, wild and possibly Rome's new nemesis the way it should be, almost, almost because late Iranian cataphracts are just still way too sexy.
Those cataphracts are FILTHY lol 😂 I mean Parthia will always be my love for cavalry, especially because of my let’s play I did with them, but your right the Roxolani are looking proper foxolani now 😏
Hey Immersoholic, would you do Saka faction next please. Also Sakas cavalry general is more tankier with more armor and better looking than all the other cav generals.

Nice vid! When you do the other 2 nomand factions, maybe you could devote a specific section of the vid to the changes compared to the previous patch as a way to highlight the new aspects. I think that would be really helpful when the new factions drop!

Late Sarmatian would probably be second place as a pure cataphract as first is essentially tied by Late Iranian and Parthian cataphracts. Sarmatian sacrifices a bit of armor, but it has the advantage of actually having range. Baktrian late cataphract would have to be next only because it has 100 instead of 120 men, but in appearance and my Baktrian fanboying I'd want them in #1.

Hey man good video as always. I am very pleased to see more love being given to the Steppe tribes as they are in vanilla is well...they leave a lot to be desired and often need mods to have a fun time with them (atleast for me). The only exception for a vanilla Steppe tribe faction that is fun for me is the Alans/Alani in Empire Devided, calvary is still the best part of that faction but you get some pretty good infantry choices as well. There has also been some more information coming out about Steppe tribes such as the Scythians and have found that they did have female warriors as well (this is where the Amazons myth came from or atleast one of them). However while woman were taught to fight their primary responsibility was still child rearing and maintaining the household. Once her child bearing days were behind her or if she was sterile then woman would be seen more in the fighting, and when they did fight is was primarily with the Bow supporting the men from the back. Anyway sorry for the long-ish comment just glad to see Steppe tribes getting some much needed love. Keep up the good work man.

They've even dug up more about the Arch Borsporan (Greeks in Crimea). And research has shown that the Scythians were masters at metal work especially with Gold, so much so that the Scythians were better at it then the Romans, Greeks, or Persians. Looks amazing! Hopefully maybe the DEI team does something in that regard for the Scythians...if they haven't already? And yeah Boudicca would be cool maybe as a late game show down between Rome and an Iceni led Brittanic Empire ;) .

Thanks mate! All of the units have been overhauled so there is berserker type units but they aren’t called berserkers anymore. I can’t recall the unit off the top of my head but they should have similar units, like their heavy axemen and naked warriors.
It’s a ini file setting where you can set markers to always be on. I can’t recall how I did it but if you google how to do it then there should be a video or post somewhere about it. It’s just the multiplayer map markers
Ngl athens would be a great faction next. They have great features and i basically just stumbled into a playthrough and they have a whole host of crazy stuff that basically makes them the greek version of rome in my opinion. The majority of their barracks troops are from the metokoi or 3rd class citizenry as well as the thetan hoplites which are actually decent especially for their social class and being in hellas they have access to the mercenary pool there. If they want pikes before the barracks event which i use the no imperium mod to just make them on turns because imperium 3 and 5 get to be a bit much, but mercenaries to their north and across the aegean. A fortified athens also gives you a mix of the two barracks troops and when you take a main port city the level 4 or 5 port whichever is amazing. Great garrison, huge economy, and makes like 18 food. Athens also can have three monument buildings by taking Sparta rhodes and Ephesus. And if you go north of pella 4. The campaign was actually so easy and I dont cheese if i can help it, for example I have been playing turtle epirus campaigns to allow the Rome bulldozer and the carthage back stabs achieve full potential before I start my offensive, i just quickly played a casual normal and was making 8k/turn on 2nd lowest tax with 6 towns. Crete makes a lot of money and is walled weirdly enough. I would say an athens review would be awesome to see. I was surprised at how nice they played. After 50 turns in my economy makes 21k/turn i have 4 full stacks and 3 half navies and am at war with noone. So i will probably do my first legendary dei playthrough with athens.

@@Immersaholic Yes, they are, cheap levy units with 3 jav ammunition, for Selucids for eksempel. Check them out next time you are on DEi, not Beta, dont know about update, but this version has. And several factions have such cheap levy units with 3 javes.. Check them out, with very deadly damage..

@@Immersaholic Oh yeah, sorry, the AP of every missile unit, as it doesn't show up in the unit card. AP is important late game so it might change how you use the unit. Some jav units though around Greek and Macedonia though are my staples with the hard melee def and excellent armour piercing, too.
I think you can take almost anything if you make just the poorest horse archers, two stacks, and focus on buffing them up with your general, at least that what I did, on a campaign while ago, it's very cost effective too. Dacians and Germanic tribes can't do too much to you and your campaign map movement range with "horses only" is huge. Only time I'd focus more on infantry is when fighting other horse factions as then your spearmen and archers can usually be better choice with archers countering the horse archers and spears dealing with melee cav. Although as I see it, just head west and take out the Royal Scythia and conquer the whole northern part of map with your fast moving armies.
Problem is supply though, you have to be aware it’s an issue and know how to counter it otherwise your horses will gobble up all of your food. But yes your definitely on the right track mate 🤓
@@Immersaholic Of course, you need to get enough food and money to hold your towns in the east, but a basic army or two can do that usually, and I usually go for grain pits and farms everywhere I conquer with public order and cultural conversion buildings in the small towns and going for research rate and supply depots in the capitals while making money in your home provinces, I think that way, DeI becomes quite easy to play and you don't really have to think about the supplies ever. Make always more food than you need for the growth bonus and future development, and make you resilient to invasions so that if you lose a fishery and a farm, you won't get out of food supply. tl;dr Food, PO and culture in new areas, and economy stuff in core areas. I have a 100 turn campaign with Dacia now, parts of Spain are mine, whole province of Africa and Italia, now going vs Egypt and Koinon Galaton with overwhelming forces. Gallic tribes are my allies and trade partners, while I try to buff my trade as much I can. DeI can be considered hard by some, but usually it's the case of first 40 turns or so, until you get 2 or 3 provinces. Maybe with my playstyle it's a bit irritating that most of my troops are always levies so most campaigns start to feel the same after a while. I still woudn't change it to Vanilla in any freaking situation, can't touch that thing after I tasted this beauty so many years ago.
I don't think supplies should be a problem for nomadic factions the way it is for other factions as they never really had big supply chains until the Mongols, they supported the army by grazing and raiding so they should loose less not more than traditional cultures

Female units on the steppe were not too uncommon. On the steppe everyone worked everyone pitched in. And a woman on a horse is still a human driving a 1500 lb animal

You also have to consider the type of horses that each unit is using.

i think they got replaced with the naked warriors and the night raider units
they habe the "scare" ability too

Did pontus always have pikes? Just noticed they do.
I believe they did but can't confirm to be honest. Not really a pike faction but I thought they had at least 1 set of them a long time ago.
