Had jim as a teacher in St Marks what a man , I never told him I knew or loved his music , gutted now and thanks to him I know hamlet inside out , really nice man and what an artist
For my father ❤️ A beautiful and gentle man. He was buried two days ago and my uncle sang this at the graveside. It was the most poignant and beautiful moment. 100s of people harmonized during the chorus. It was an emotional send off. ❤️ Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis ☘️
We are so lucky to be in the Era that Jim McCann existed, and sang... He is 'SO' much better now, than when he was with "The Dubliners".... NO comparison!!!!! His voice was so pure and beautiful !!!!!!!!
@@robertialsobel6015 This is a variant of the Scottish song "Braes of Balquhither", but this version was adapted and written by an Irishman, so I'd say both countries have their claims to it.
I always felt joking the Dubliners was a detriment to his career. Listen to his voice and guitar plucking. He did not need them. He was gifted in his own right
@@TheDublinersOfficial O I miss them All! What a repertoire of wonderful songs, what great, strong and also sensitive voices, what excellent instrumental accompaniment...
Now Here is a voice to fit the song to a good depth. Everyone got a favorite or two and Emmit Cahill is good, Tommy Makem is tops and the McGrath's . Add Jim McCann.

I want to buy that man a pint. Utter perfection. What more can I say?
He's passed away 😢
Stunning. Much better than that awful snapping/jerking vocal sound you hear among 99.9% of Irish folk singers. Nice and smooth.
Wonderful.... I'd "come in" he was the "romantic part" of the Dubliners... And he did it masterly... Unforgotten...
Just beautiful. Powerfully sung in this range. Gives me chills!
This has to be the best version of this song. It's a sincere heartfelt proposal. Leaves us pondering. Did she say yes?
