this is actually a very funny comment because he's making a joke about becoming sexually aroused. i don't know if you guys got the joke but personally i am very amused by this excellent comment.
Dude I like this track and style, it's fine. "people have moved on stylistically" implies that there's only one electronic music genre that exists, and that's blatantly false.
Had to press pause in the video after you played the song. All I gotta say is DAAAAMMM THATS NIIIIIICE!!!!! Sounds like a dope Capcom fighting platform Theme Song. Ok...back to the kick tutorial.
EQ, Compression and Reverb I'd say. But I can't tell you exactly how. Easiest way would be, to use big Piano Samples from Native Instruments for example.
Whenever you want to make something big, use compression, most likely with shorter release, for piano I mostly use: EQ, then reverb, then multiband compressor and finish it with slight single band compression, after this, I get a standard fat piano for electronic music :)
Delay. Delay delay delay. I do a really fast delay with a low cutoff point. It gives that sound that almost sounds like reverb but more echoey. Plus like everyone else said, EQ, a bit of reverb and some soft compression.
>Even though none of you are doing breakbeat [citation needed] I love breakbeat. and jungle, and synthpop, and futurepop. this is totally something I'm into. you should do a multi-question genre survey to see what all genres people who follow you are into.
Who isn't making breakbeat anymore? I have a tip; try adding a broadband compressor before the distortion in the chain. It can allow for dialling in the drum hit dynamics (micro) and overall groove (macro) a little better. It possibly sounds a little more refined. Some compressors rule going into distortion.
To be honest the music theory in this example song was admirable to me cause I can only do basic 7th chord progressions in minor keys barely good at secondary dominants and stuff
I think Breakbeat is a very cool genre, but you dont make much about it on this channel (even though you seem to like it alot :D) ..you should do a Breakbeat/Sounddesign-Seamless-step Hybrid, that would be so cool :D
Hey there SeamlessR! I mostly don't like your work. Please dont get me wrong, just not my taste of music. But I realy like Cant Stop me! One of the most fabolous idea I heard in my life! Also you make realy high quality Music which I realy apreciate! So I wanted to ask if in these .flp files is the complete Track like seen in your Playthrough videos? + All Effects in the Mixer Chanels? I would definetly buy this to learn how you make sound all that clean! But only if all is in there. Is the Mastering also done in the Master channel? That would even be more epic! Thank you for your time!
I think you might be unintentionally misdirecting a lot of people here who aren't familiar enough with things like compression and limiting, because when you're demonstrating what you've done in the beginning of the video, your 'original' sound is WAY quiter than your processed sound, and this makes any kind of objective comparison just impossible, cause louder almost always means 'better'. And if you turn down your processed track to match the perceived volume of original loop, it's immediately obvious that compression, distortion (which also adds up to compression) and EQing in fact does MORE in matter of making sound 'big' than the reverb. Actually, the reverb you are using here is way too obvious (in my taste of course) and using it like this is rather situational. For example, I bet if you had a really aggressive bass here and some backdrop like pads, that much reverb would be rather harmful in terms of mix clarity and space setup. I think what it really adds to drums being 'big' is stereo width which makes a sound 'closer' to listener (esp. considering your original loop was almost mono)
There is a moment pretty early on where I show what it sounds like without the reverb but with everything else. It's pretty clear the impact the reverb has.
Yeah, I think 4:55 is the moment you're talking about, and if compared to 2:00 where you have your original loop it's pretty clear that on it's own it makes a sound just a tiny little bit closer (which is probably related to 'bigger'), and then you compress the hell out of it, which quite predictably makes it more obvious and even more 'close', BUT my point is that to make a really faithful comparison one should compare the sounds of the same volume (perception-wise), and your compression-distortion chain makes the thing like 6 db louder, which means 'bigger', 'closer' and 'beefier' by its own, whatever happens to sound before this gain. That's why I've dumped the audio from this video and equalized the levels 'before' and 'after', and I'm pretty damn sure that the key thing here is compression, as well as the reverb compression of course.
let's put it simplier way: pick a really wide snare, pan your hats and leave all the processing chain untouched. Will you need that much reverb to get the same impact and size? I think the real deal here is that your original loop is mono, which is opposite of 'big' sound, and reverb fixes it
The "bigness" of the sound isn't entirely related to just the stereo field. It also has to do with the tail the reverb brings. It would be the same kind of "big" I'm talking about if everything was in mono, including the reverb. The problem with the original samples isn't the stereo, it's that they are short, and dry as can be. I mention this in the video when I talk about "room" sound and convolution.
+SeamlessR Lately i've been taking mono drum samples and artificially stereo-izing them by layering the original sound with a widened version that just emphasizes certain frequencies. Works surprisingly well :)
But that's essential to making big drums, especially this genre. If you had a ride behind the drums it would kinda fill the dryness of the drums (used in dubstep f.ex.) instead of straight reverb to main drums. Of course that is different, and that's why breakbeat is breakbeat and not breakstep (or dubbeat?)
you could implement this to any genre I think. breakbeat is just a good example to this kind of reverb-wave shaping-compression- thing... I could see this being used in any drums, in a way, but just bit differently depending on genre and sound that you're seeking.
well beat sounds realy nice and strong, grossbeat little pain in the ass for automation.. well i dont know but my hights tend to break with maximus, well hihats and snares pitched high, realy not sure why and who is doing this ... have a nice day :)
The track reminds me of my younger, hormonally-unstable days where I'll drop every notes that I think sounds good but in the end turned shit. But nice tutorial anyway.
Semless' videos turns my tiny drum into a big drum.
smol dum
youre in every seamless video dud
this is actually a very funny comment because he's making a joke about becoming sexually aroused. i don't know if you guys got the joke but personally i am very amused by this excellent comment.

Also can you do a video about turning a tiny pianos into big pianos? ;p
yes! do it pls SeamlessR...

What impressed me most was the fact that you manage to time compress your speech in real time :-)
Seamless... is that a MAJOR MELODY??? man... it's not like you but actually not bad
Bro, this sounds like something you'd hear in final fantasy 7!! I fucking love it!
This track sounds like it was made 12 years ago lol.
Actually kinda true, listen to some of Waterflame's old stuff and that stuff was made 8-10 years ago
Who isn't making breakbeat anymore?

Chiptune! Yes, more please. :) And more about, big drums! Thanks!
I think that style is awesome!
I love this song it reminds me on the Xbox game blinx back in the day
oh yeah that game was hard i remember that
This song actually reminds me of Christmas time, especially the second half with that lead thing :p
"give that rumbly a chance to rumble a bit longer" ~SeamlessR 2016
I like the vibe of this one!
Suddenly realizes how I should have been using convulsive reverb all along. Mind blown.
Sounds a bit like 90s vidya game muzak
Sounds good though :)
that's what I said :P
Seamless, youre the man.
Yay more SeamlessR!!
Can this be used on _body parts_
I was thinking exactly that but didn't want to comment it
Honestly, I like that track, It's almost a Seamless + Chiptune feel and I love that lol
this is hela relevant to 80s synthwave drums and making retro big style drums
It indeed sounds huge. Gotta try this sometime. :)
Man this tune sounds alot like the Amiga tunes back in the days, I like it.
this beat fckn rocks!
such an unexpected drop
I approve of your chiptune!
To be honest the music theory in this example song was admirable to me cause I can only do basic 7th chord progressions in minor keys barely good at secondary dominants and stuff
Sounds like when you open a Keygen/Crack/Activator song
The song is pretty cool! :D
LMAO when you mentioned the matrix its funny cause I watched that exact movie earlier today
Layer everything! And I mean literally “everything “!
That song is sooooooo sick. Omfg pls finish somehow ;D
I love the title of this video! :D
3:45 nah I'm here.
Respect :)

When Pattern 18 starts, it reminds me of U-ziq songs.
+SeamlessR, it's not funny, it's amazing!
The sacred carnage method
So.....
Seamless is making videogame OSTs now?
Seems legit lol

Nyan Seamless Cat! :D
The bass dropped harder than new call of duty trailer's dislike ratio
Sound like something you'd find in Terraria
What happened to user track reviews? That was my favorite series.
Seamless, how do you make your VST's so small and have the capability to change the size of the plugin?
Hey there SeamlessR! I mostly don't like your work. Please dont get me wrong, just not my taste of music. But I realy like

That track reminded me of Waterflame actually.
WOOO CHIPTUNE FTW!
I love breakbeat. Do more breakbeat.

Love the video. Don't like Your assumptions about people cx
Can anyone tell me what he created the chords and the melody with? sylenth? harmor? harmless?
It looks like sylenth
+Björn Sundin just kidding it's sytrus i think
Björn Sundin thx m8
putting that much reverb on the kick drum is just so much pain
But that's essential to making big drums, especially this genre. If you had a ride behind the drums it would kinda fill the dryness of the drums (used in dubstep f.ex.) instead of straight reverb to main drums. Of course that is different, and that's why breakbeat is breakbeat and not breakstep (or dubbeat?)
except a bright reverb doesnt work on the kickdrum / bass, thats why you use different reverbs for your kick and the rest of the drums.
what is this? chiptune house elevator music?
sounds like Winter Sleep
Kieren Eller yuuuuup
I love break beat what do you mean lol
So is this method used only for breakbeat?
you could implement this to any genre I think. breakbeat is just a good example to this kind of reverb-wave shaping-compression- thing... I could see this being used in any drums, in a way, but just bit differently depending on genre and sound that you're seeking.
DeKill EDM Oh, that makes sense
this vid is fucking sic! :D
well beat sounds realy nice and strong,
grossbeat little pain in the ass for automation..
well i dont know but my hights tend to break with maximus, well hihats and snares pitched high, realy not sure why and who is doing this ...
have a nice day :)
The music kinda reminds me of coda's music.
ble'shoo!
Sounds like this track would be in Terraria
how to over compress drums with seamless.
No I think most of the over compression -sound came from the wave shaper rather than Maximus
Gesundheit .
Anyone else getting a bit of a portal 2 vibe from that track?
MAKE FREEFORM PLEASE
im doing break beat...
The track reminds me of my younger, hormonally-unstable days where I'll drop every notes that I think sounds good but in the end turned shit.
But nice tutorial anyway.
According to comments below, the song in the video only made Smart people into Autistic people with memes.
The title sound like carnage wrote it
your jowels. I can hear them.
except i am doing breakbeat seamless ;)
Does this work on genitalia?
yes
man real quick i went to the matrix video and their sound design is so bad haha the sword/knife sounds and hits are so light and mixed very poorly
replace the word Drums in the title with any word you want lol
terraria soundtrack
can you do something like this for my weiner??
You talk too fast, at times its irritating because you start mumbling.
Ben Walker lmao
False advertising, I couldn't make my snare drum into a timpani. -4/10.
