I totally agree with you in regards to the importance of your embouchure. I believe it can make or break your long-term success or failure in regards to how well you can play the trumpet!

I've been developing a very similar embouchure that is really helping my range and endurance. For me, it feels like I'm offering more "loose lip" that is then compressed in the mouthpiece. That compression does a lot of the work that my muscles used to do, so then I can use the muscles more fine control and supporting the aperture. In essence though, I think it's the same thing you are describing here.

Very helpful visualizing the position to the mouthpiece and aperture, thank-you

+1 for the tongue between the teeth, it’s key!!
What you’re discussing here is just like Callet’s Trumpet Yoga stuff, you may find that interesting. Get in touch if you’d like me to discuss it with you.

Just remember your tongue only needs to interrupt the airstream to cause the sound to cease...

Hey! What do you think about jaw position? I have a big overbite and wondering if pushing my jaw out gonna help me with my playing

If you can without causing pain, I do find it helps, especially when ascending.

Been practicing for about 2 years now, recently I notice my lower lips curls around my bottom teeth and I get bruised inside my lip. I am trying this out but my lower lip still curls in, any advice on how to correct myself?

Oh man, I hear you. This a tough thing to fix. I'll do a video this weekend to explain how I have worked on it.

Used to happen to me. Do you have a teardrop lip? It might be that this blocks the aperture as you get higher, and the bottom lip curls like it does to allow a stream of air through. One option is to play to the side, but get good advice as that can cause it's own problems and you will need to spend a lot of time adjusting. There are plenty of great players who do play to the side though.

but you're talking about playing 'in the red' aren't you? which is to avoided, they say. Yep. I am a total beginner and this do not play in the red is a really big time restriction.

No, I'm not. Also, playing in the red isn't the huge problem it's made out to be ALL THE TIME. For some folks, yes. I do think much of it depends on the placement of the lips and the obicularus oris.
