thank you for taking the time to view my comment and reply,:) you tony are amazing and i was already convinced about the kemper with allot extensive research about the product, you give it more justice, and i'm sold and i get more of a genuine feeling off this product vs the f word, as far as they way it's built is looks like a tank, and would be worth every penny for this amazing craftsmanship. again thanks for the reply and amazing review.
Any product that receives a 10/10 from you has to be an impressive piece of equipment. I was unfamiliar with this unit until I watched your review. Now, you have me wanting to run out and buy one for myself. Thank you for all the wonderful videos you continue to share with us, each is a treat to watch.
The Kemper amp is an anomaly among 'simulator' amps (we could call them computer based replicators LOL). The only real shortcoming is that if you use the Kemper live then you can get situations where the unit could reset or freeze or indeed just reset itself. I have never experienced any of those problems, but others do talk about that sometimes. A UPS (uninterruptible Power Supply as used for a PC) can resolve that especially where voltage supply fluctuates or carries high noise levels. The Kemper for the studio is brilliant. This video was made shortly after buying the unit, and the Kemper has continued to improve dramatically over time. In my opinion as I speak this remains the best unit available at the moment. However, there are negatives too. With thousands of 'profile' sounds available its easy to get in to 'checking them all out' but not be playing any guitar. Secondly, the learning curve for new guys has been pushed since the units release at the very end of 2011. I still feel that a real tube amp IS different to play through though. Its just different than any simulator I have tried to date... hence I keep my amps. But for sure the Kemper is awesome. I still have mine, but I upgraded from the one in this video to the rack unit (also on my channel) in 2013. Some other units have good effects but IMO inferior amp sounds which are often hidden by the 'effects' section on all the presets when it arrives with you. The amp tones on the Kemper are great with or without the effects being applied. Its a rare situation for simulators. Thanks for watching.
I'm not as concerned about perfectly matching tube amps as I am about simply achieving a great heavy metal rhythm and clean tone. Sure there are numerous "heavy metal" tones but I am fine with at most two to threee and 1 to 2 clean tones. The need for a lead tone is pretty much nonexistent because I have no desire to ever play any sort of lead. But if in the future my opinion changes at least I know I will have access one or two that fit what I'm looking for...true metal rhythm is what makes the hair stand up down the backside of my neck. Give me a great Anthrax or Megadeth tone and I'm good to go. That is all I need to lead me into heavy metal bliss. Once I become more familiar with recording then my need for multiple tones will become necessary. Some of these profession or quasi professional recordings using one tone on the left and a different on the right to achieve a fantastic overall rhythm sound is something I would like to work on in order to achieve a more complex overall tone. But since I have never recorded I can't see how it is an immediate requirement. Again, just like finding a nice lead tone I will find rhythm tones that work that work together to give me something awesome (huge)...think Mark Tremonti. That is a long way from now...right now I simply wish to play my favorite CDs and jam along. That makes me happy and takes me to me a place far away, a comforting place. Somewhere I can go to escape some of the complexities of everyday life. You, as much as anyone else close to me can realize the need to get away sometimes. Your friendship is something I will always cherish. Bless you my dearest of friends.
Jesse Huerta I understand, and indeed I have in my history done similar (especially after a band split for some reason or other). I went down the road of not needing anyone else to develop my music at all. And playing (or learning from other music) was about a two year effort LOL. I still only play today with a couple of guys that I really get on with well so the old days of bands (or members) that don't this or don't that are thankfully long gone. Trust me Jesse Ive been there and back to what you are talking about. I didn't have a Kemper (they didn't exist) I had a TriAxis and wrote a pile of stuff myself - it was liberating... and maybe the Kemper would inspire you to do that. I often find (believe it or not) that a piece of gear that is truly exciting drives me to many new ideas with music... its a bit weird but thats how it works for me and I'm sure that when you plug in the Kemper you will have a similar experience.
I have actually experienced that when I dial in a great tone the ideas come flying out. My son has gone as far as turning on a recorder and making sure everything I play is there for him to go back and listen to and study. One minute after coming up with a great riff I forget all about it and move on to the next. That sort of experience is something only musicians or other types of artists can fully understand. I don't really care to go back and listen to what I played but my son thinks of it as something special...I guess it is in some ways. He is learning to record on his computer with a decent beginners "rig" and has actually become pretty proficient with it. My interest lays only in the jamming.
Jesse Huerta The truth is its all good! What someone gains from playing guitar is really a path down the road at each step of being a musician. That road can lead to being a pro guitarist, a club guy or simply playing in a bedroom - it makes no difference really - the end result is that each person gains and enjoys what they do.
Hi Tony, Coming from a Pod HD500x, I wanted to treat myself to something better, and was considering either an Axe FX or the Kemper, as I go straight to PA live, and I really think you are a totally genuine reviewer, with no bias. As a consequence, I'm about to be the proud (and skint) owner of the aforementioned Kemper - cheers!
I saw one of these at Gibson Guitar factory in Memphis, USA and it really caught my eye as well as all of the fantastic guitars. Well enjoyed review Tony! I will have to look more into this Kemper. Keep them coming!
Tony, that's a brilliant review. I have just bought the blackface version and so far, (sound wise) amazing. I'm usually pretty good at working things out without a manual (which on this product is pretty hard going), but there are elements of the user-interface I find very confusing and I'm surprised there are not more 'instructional' videos online...
Yes I agree there are some 'funny' things in finding the 'how to do' this or that and it also changes over time too with those updates. I agree that the manual should be better... I think they have some 'how to' videos kicking around... I could be wrong (I might be confusing it with Steinberg) as I have not looked in a while. Glad you liked the review and thanks for watching. I would make some 'how to' videos on the Kemper... but to be honest I too don't find everything as easy as sometimes it should be. They need a decent editor... but don't seem to be coming up with it. We shall see.
Hi Tony thanks for responding to my mail !! The Fractal Fx8 hasn't landed here yet , probably out after NAMM only a teaser on TH-cam ! Looks good tho , I'll have a look at it as its a floor unit seems more gigable ! Thanks for all your great reviews! 🎶🎸
Hi, Tony. Will you be reviewing the power rack version? I am about to order mine and I havent been able to find videos on that version. I live in Mexico and we have to rely of reviews like yours. Thank you for posting your videos
It's interesting to know that I made this video over five years ago. Its incredible where time goes really. I liked the Kemper then and indeed still do - its one of those products that does what they say. Thanks for watching.
My question is tony... is it easy to use in a live situation? I am really considering getting this.. Also i noticed you didnt do any cleaner tones... does it capture those well?
Great review! Got a little question, does the Kemper profile the amps in such a way that you can change your gain/treble/mid/bass like you would on the real amp? Or is it much like impulse based machines where it takes a 'snapshot' of a setting that can't be changed without re-profiling? Very interested in this little device!!
I think that the only real Achilles heel of the Kemper is that it can only create a profile as good as the original sound going into it. I.E. Garbage in = garbage out. That said, I really want one but don't know if I should hold off for software/firmware revisions or just get it and enjoy it. Regarding phantom power, is there anything stopping you from instead of running the mic into the kemper, running mics into a preamp then running the mic preamp into the kemper?
@FastRedPonyCar What I want to know is how physically can it figure out what the amp is on other settings (lower gain, different eq settings) as these arent fixed things that apply to all amps so would you have to profile 10 different useable settings with different mics etc. It sounds great for copping an exact tone but I'd like to see how it gets the whole spectrum of tones from an amp. In my head it doesn't seem like it would be possible by send noise through an amp on static settings.
Unlikely. TBH I will only buy equipment that is from someone I trust. My trust in Fractal vanished a few years ago. And I particularly dislike the over the top generally distorted 'promotion' (lets call it that). But you take them as you find them... best of luck with it though.
Tony, I saw a write up of most of the Marshall Amps, like the JCM2000 being the best selling Marshall and now I can't locate the chart. Can you send me a link please? Thanks, Lou
hello Tony. Great video. Thank you. Would you recommend buying a Kemper power profilier? I dont have any amp to clone. The amps cloned that kemper includes worth it?? It's better buying a kemper with power ???
All very good questions. Think about how you would use the unit. In my case I originally bought a 'geeks' handbag as you see in this video, but later I sold that and bought a rack unit. The reason was that Kemper offered an 'exchange' system to switch to powered Kemper, but then reneged on the idea :( so because when I bought either Kemper a powered unit was not available I was very disappointed (because I wanted to use the unit in to a cab without other amps involved). I decided not to let Kemper make even more money from their recalled ways and fitted a 90+90 stereo amp inside (from Ritter Amps) and the cost was reasonable. Here's where I showed what I did: th-cam.com/video/ymyMzfjphxI/w-d-xo.html If you buy a non powered Kemper then you have the 'hassle' of buying an amp. If you only plug in to FOH live etc. you don't need a powered amp. My view is that you should choose what is best for your exact application. BTW somehow I don't think it will be too long before a new model appears from Kemper - I have no inside info or anything like that, but for a unit dating back as long as the current Kemper goes back to October 2011 and that Fractal have updated, along with the Helix and others on the scene AND that they are looking for programmers it's pretty obvious that something is happening in that department. The amps BTW are very good and there are very many - you won't run out of amps to play that's for sure. The amp quality is exceptional, but I have felt for a long time that the 'feel' is not quite the same as the 20 odd tube amps I own and that's why I don't play mine as much any longer. However, if they introduced a new model I would most likely buy it. Hope these points help. I have made other videos of the Kemper too so check my channel for them. Thanks for watching...
I wish you would have done a AxeFX ultra II demo. I would like to have someone like you pick it apart and see if it all cracked up to be as good as some say. Or is it just smoke.
It was in the ball park after 'refine' and i'm sure I could tweak until it was extremely close however i'm wondering if it can profile supreme cleans like fender or matchless or the wonderful crunch break up of a Two Rock or Dr Z??
+Spam'n'egg. From my experience with the Kemper it does get very close to the sound there is no doubt. But like you said before (somewhere else) rarely do these types of products have that same 'feel' of the real deal. I still have my Kemper and it does have it's place for sure... but I have tried most of these types of units and they typically are similar except for the pricing. Recent review of the Blue Telecaster I made had a very nice tone on the end from the Helix but I contribute some of that to the guitar. So to answer the question you CAN get very near to the 'tone' but not quite the feel... thanks for watching.
+tonymckenziecom in my experience comparing the kemper with a miced up amp reveals very little difference in "feel". In the room with the amp of course things are different; then the amp truly shines in terms of "feel" I would say.,
+Dimitris Martinis I use mine really in the studio and there is a difference to me. Its not so much a sound difference in itself, but if I play the Kemper and if I then get the amp and play that there is what I would call a 'feel' difference - it is subtle for sure but I could tell if I was blind folded and playing in the studio between the two. But the Kemper really is just about the best out there currently I think :) Thanks for watching.
***** Yea, actually I agree. Some can't tell the difference and maybe I can't either if just listening through monitors. But if I'm playing I can definitely feel the difference. Thing is: how is it possible for something that sounds the same "feel" different? Apart from latency, I'd expect them to feel identical if they sound the same. And probably that's where the "feel" difference we experience is: in slight, very slight tonal nuances that exist as part of your tone -- but for us humans are more easily "felt" than "heard" :) And no need to thank me for watching; we thank you for all the valuable work you put into this stuff.
+Dimitris Martinis Its a very interesting point and I have never heard a definitive answer (not that I know I don't) but yours is one to consider for sure. It is a bit weird because like you say it should be the same. I always like to reply to guys... its like this, if someone contacts me and is a reasonable person (most are) then they deserve an answer if I can... I think that is courtesy to them. I can sometimes help guys and other times I can't but at least I try... I really like to do all of this for the most part and always appreciate decent people showing up and commenting. Sometimes I have had people that abuse what I do and honestly I hate those attitudes.. they have no respect for anything... just had to ban a guy and there was no reason for his attitude at all. Thankfully most visitors are not like that but are far more civil and appreciative as you are. And that's the reason I put up with the looneys on the internet. The good guys will always win through. So.... thanks again! :)
Hi Tony, So I take it you are well pleased with the Kemper? I have the same Tube only thinking that you do also :-) As far as a Wish List for your amp reviews maybe you can do a review/demo of the new Laney Tony Iommi Head :-) I haven't seen a demo online as of yet. It's not a cheap amp at $1995 USD but I have the feeling it will blow the doors off their other one the 100 watt Iron Heart.
whats even closer to the real thing is if you create profiles of just the amp's preamp and then use a stereo power amp to run that sound through a cab, you can literally pull off any sound after remicing what you already have profiled. Its the cabniet simulation that makes the biggest difference in the realism
+Eric John Music Thanks for posting that tip for others... its always good to see guys do that. I would agree that the cab sim makes a huge difference too. Thanks for watching.
i just picked up the Kemper Profiler Rack and profiled my Wizard MCII last night and all i have to say about it is, know anyone looking to buy a Wizard MCII!?
:) The Kemper is getting on a bit IMO (But I have had one since 2012) but its a great device and for tones? It's likely the best out there no matter what anyone says. I still have mine too as well as a Helix rack but they are both interesting pieces of gear. Glad you like the Kemper... Thanks.
2 On top of that there is a great Kemper sound sharing community out there with amazing amp profiles, from spot on to exotic never heard before amps. The Kemper is a breakthrough. Whereas the Axel box is more the Rolls Royce version of a Line 6 Pod. A bit of a blender device that can trick you with its huge effects arsenal. The Kemper is an (almost) pure tone clone of the source but with the ability to tweak afterwards which can even sound better than the original source amp in the first place
@tonymckenziecom Yeh I get that. Both are great products, and for those into this kind of tech its a great time to be a guitarist. Their aimed at different types of people. The KPA is plug and play - get "snapshot" sounds quickly that are grea and can be tuned slightly should you wish. The AFX is aimed at those who want to create their own tones. The sounds "in the box" are meant to show what can be done - not used by the user as stock tones. Both great though in their niches.
If you want your PC/Mac vst plugin amps free/commercial aswell, well, this thing can profile them too no problem! Excellent piece of German tech. It's really amazing!
Your prediction is True .Other Amp manufacturer business is going down & Now many players buying amps online then return that after profiling those amps.Kempler have become GTA of Amp
+borhanus Hmmm if they are doing that then its a really sad situation. I would not really condone that because if no one buys the real deal amps there really will not be any to profile. I still like the tube amps better overall though myself. Thanks for the info and for watching.
borhanus they eventually miss their amps and go back to them. Unless they're pros and need them for easy travel. GAS kicks in no matter what it is. You will always be buying new gear if possible.
Good point. I made this video some years ago when the Kemper first came out and was excited to get the thing on video :) But it's simple to store the profile... honestly. Save button, name it and hey presto. Thanks for watching BTW.
Hey tony thanks for you reply,I seen you had a personal vendetta against fractal at some point thats why I said "bias".I do not own either yet,but I have seen on the fractal forum people who own an axe get nasty over negative comments about the unit.
when you buy a Kemper, where and how do you hunt down all the cool amps you wish to copy? I guess ya gotta run around with your kemper modeling amp to you buddies whom own Marshalls, Soldanos, 5150's ect. and have a mixer, great mics, ect- sounds like a pain in the ass- I just plug in my Saldano and let it rip.
That's a great question and there is a very simple answer... go here: www.kemper-amps.com/rig/exchange but remember that there are also commercial generated profiles. But easy - make your own too :) hope it helps.
Given that I don't have access to a large vareity of good amps I'd probably be happy with a simpler unit with a good range of commercially generated profiles. Possibly a future product?
Absolutely correct - same here. These things seem to have too many bells and whistles with stuff hidden behind loads of menus... and truthfully I only use about 10 tones... good point.
I am leaning more toward buying this over an Axe Fx 2, where exactly are the Fractals being made? China, Korea, or ??? I was stationed in Germany and I agree there are some well made products being produced by their creative citizens/companies I have heard bad things from Fractal outside of where they are made such as; fan failures/noise and complete power failures I never had an interest the Axe Fx 2 until Steve Vai had 2 in his tour rig and uses their pedal board I think overall I'd be happier with a Bogner or Engl than anything else
Well some are VERY careful about where the board comes from and I believe the case for some are manufactured outside the company. Someone told me that the main board on one of them is USA design but made far east as much other stuff is these days. I have no information about the Kemper board in particular and no one seems to be telling on that unit. Steve used to use a TC G-System too... those IMO were not too good in real life. I had a G-System myself and it had a great build, shame about the manual and some features of the unit. I sold mine. There is no unit available that actually replaces playing through a great tube amp. The other stuff is more convenient sometimes, however, simulators somehow still remain 'nearly there' units in my mind and some are clearly better than others - and price is not the determining factor of best choice in the area of simulated tube amps. Its hard to put your finger on exactly what it is that's missing. There are lots of guys with some of that stuff 'in their rigs' as you suggest but the real question is, of the entire professional user base how many use the actual amp simulations as opposed to using the units for effects only. Now THATS the question. While I personally do have a number of what I think are the best simulators available mine are used for very specific and minority use against real tube amps. But I do understand the issues of convenience which can be an advantage for some guys.
Yes, that does sound like good service I have only heard this guy mention negative things and some others have brought up the cooling fan having noise issues
Nikola Tesla I could send you loads of emails sent to me personally and via my website telling me exactly what the product and service was like for them (but I won't). And they confirm that most of the stuff I have mentioned over the years. Its not just a thing where I suffered for sure - far from just me! But hey, who cares, I don't need one I have a Kemper. If someone likes that gear then I say buy it... best of luck.
Looks like a hugely complicated thing to repair when something goes awry! Like you said taking it apart is a pain in the butt, what if you really had to take it apart for a repair issue?
@tonymckenziecom I'm willing to bet the pro studios that use mics needing phantom would run them into high end mic preamps and interfaces before sending that into the kemper. That's what I would do. I prefer how my amps sound with 2, sometimes 3 different mics blended together vs just 1 mic.
I'm awaiting my Kemper from Sweetwater so never played it but IF it does what it says it does... then why couldn't it be for everyone? I mean what guitarist wouldn't want the potential of playing through whatever amp he so desires, whether modded or not?
Hi Tony, I received my Kemper from an online source that offers "Scratch & Dent" products at a very large discount. I paid $1489 for my Kemper :-) But it was short lived bliss. After I put in my username & Time/Date it gave me a message that had to do with the Paste Memory?? I went to the forum, called Tech support at :-) and got nothing. Somebody said one of the buttons was either stuck or bad. I am returning it now. Now I wonder the quality of this company letting stuff go that doesn't work.
As a guitar player for 35 years and an organ player for the past 15 I am well aware of all of the amps out there for guitar players. Am also aware of the New Hammond/Suzuki B3 organ, but man there were so many other organs out there! I own several myself and although the demand for Wurlitzer electrostatic reed and transistorized organs, Gulbransen transistorized organs, Conn tube and transistorized organs, Thomas transistorized organs... is pretty much non existent, they need to be profiled!
Only thing is you have to have the reference amp to get the sound. Take in the store to get the sound from the amp, I don't think they will let you do that:)
+rick jones Good question Rick, but they are both 'different' and in my opinion are in different 'places'. For me, the Kemper (and its pedal) overall costs more than the Helix and the Helix is composite construction. Both in their own way are good. But I would suggest that the Kemper offers more in tones or 'profiles' which are unlimited because the Kemper can do that while the Helix cannot. But the Helix has its place... and its cheaper as I said. Kemper is a more mature product and Helix is pretty new so software is improving Helix (recent beta of the editor for example). My personal choice would be the Kemper because it takes up less floor space and has more sounds - and for mine I fitted a power amp. But as I said both have their place and if money is no object then it could be a hard choice for some guys. :) Tanks for the question... always difficult to answer... and thanks for watching.
yes kinda hard to answer i guess. helix has lots to offer and has effects on board easy to use sounds great lots of routing for it too. Over time L6 with Yamahas help will improve the helix even more. I think for live use the helix def wins out as a better choice i guess? Kemper is 1 trick pony but does that trick well. I guess I could see it useful in studio for sure.Kemper has less floor space until you hook up the floorboard and add a exp pedal :) Thanks for the input.
+rick jones Anytime Rick... the Kemper has always intrigued me with the 'profiles' thing... my first video of it was when I first profiled an amp and there was no doubt back then it was really revolutionary. But others will catch up ;-)
1 IMO The new Kemper rack version looks actually better and more unique than the Fracture Faux FX. It also has a more intuitive operation and a better front panel and display design for that purpose. When the Trivial FX user tries to 'tone match' the Kemper just profiles. Much more easy, way closer to the source amp and with unlimited possibilities in final sound.
Great review Guys ! thank you . Very impressive indeed ! i doubt they`d let you take it in to a vintage amp shop . It looks a bit like Marvin the manic depressive android`s head ( hitchhikers guide to the galaxy) :D
I think I recorded this back in 2011 or thereabouts when the Kemper first came out. There was no doubt it was revolutionary then and still is today in many ways. I did go on later to profile a number of amps that I had at the time and I uploaded those on to the Kemper site where they get shared to others. The Kemper does look out of place really. I sold this one and bought a rack unit later which was better suited than the 'nerd's handbag' model. Nothing against nerd's by the way - I'm probably an old version :) Stay safe.
Let's say you profile an amp's distorted sound, can't tell them apart then separate them. Does the cleaned up Kemper match the cleaned up amp? In other words, does it profile/clone particular sounds or whole amps, with all the other sounds they can generate?
Obviously it is hard to get the EXACT same settings and I'm sure there will be differences but probably not massive. If you check the Kemper download site you will see that guys (me too) have posted more than one 'profile' of an amp. I have posted clean, semi distortion, distortion and then a specific tone I might use for lead guitar (as the tube amp is set for 'my' lead tome). You can of course now profile the amp as opposed to the amp and speaker. I just reviewed that here: th-cam.com/video/lrWnvG__HeA/w-d-xo.html maybe that might offer you a different insight to the question. Thanks both of you for the question its a good one :) and thanks for watching.
+tonymckenziecom Thank you sir for the objective, unbiased advice you give through all your reviews. I think I'm gonna use the morph function then. it might be more accurate.
I assumed the morphing was to 'morph' from one amplifier profile to a different amp profile? I guess if you profile it 'clean' then profile it distorted and go between the two at one end you have clean and the other you have the distorted amp... but everything in between may not be the same ...
F sounds mediocre at best. Had both versions and sold them both with profit (the only good thing about this F thing :-) Great demo and I liked your review from your website.
Great video - though I dont feel you should knock other brands in a video about something else. FWIW Ive played with a KPA for the last 10 days or so, but it went back. I couldnt afford the KPA and the AFX2 - I went for the AFX. why? well the FX/routing is much better - but that aside I felt the tones were better on the AFX. This was down to me not having any amps to profile so was stuck with the included profiles and the ones available for download. There good but I couldnt get them right.
@tonymckenziecom So it really is best for people who have access to lots of amps and such that they use and to replace them with a portable amp they can take anywhere. Great idea think it is a really cool product probably not for me yet in time but cool non the less.
You don't need ANY amps as it turns out... you can simply download rigs made by others. There's some really high quality ones out there done by people with studio grade signal paths. Some free, some not. Take a further look... it might be for you after all...
lmao you guys cracked me up, that sounds way better than the one for 2,000 pounds dan's like oh which one, tony oh i forget , and dan's all like struggling fffff frra come on you were gonna say fractal lmao axe fx 2 what??? exactly, i'm convinced on this one.
I've been curious about this unit and now I feel very up to date about it!
Thanks for a thorough demo (once again), Tony.
Cheers,
T.
thank you for taking the time to view my comment and reply,:) you tony are amazing and i was already convinced about the kemper with allot extensive research about the product, you give it more justice, and i'm sold and i get more of a genuine feeling off this product vs the f word, as far as they way it's built is looks like a tank, and would be worth every penny for this amazing craftsmanship. again thanks for the reply and amazing review.
Love your videos, you've convinced me to get one of these :)
Keep up the good work mate!
John Reid Great to hear... let me know what you think of the Kemper... I still have mine too.
If this thing can profile a Soldano Hotrod 25 so I can't tell the difference then I'm sold. Thanks to Tony for your great honest videos.
I saw one of these at Gibson Guitar factory in Memphis, USA and it really caught my eye as well as all of the fantastic guitars. Well enjoyed review Tony! I will have to look more into this Kemper. Keep them coming!
Awesome demo Tony per usual...
Let me know how it goes ;-)
Hi, Tony. Will you be reviewing the power rack version? I am about to order mine and I havent been able to find videos on that version. I live in Mexico and we have to rely of reviews like yours. Thank you for posting your videos
Thanks for the review, actually bought one two months ago based on your review.
Happy days :)
It has been a privilege to help. I like this product too it was great fun and still is for the most part. Thank you for watching.
Thank you again, Tony. I am looking forward to your review.
Man what an awesome review THANKS Tony!
Great review.Definitely the best Kemper review.I got one question though. Is it possible to use stomp boxes on fornt of the 'amp'?
Will do !!! Their web site says 'coming soon' Ive put myself on the waiting list 🎶🎸
Once again, a very, ver informative review! Well done!
It's interesting to know that I made this video over five years ago. Its incredible where time goes really. I liked the Kemper then and indeed still do - its one of those products that does what they say. Thanks for watching.
I have had one for 2 years and love it..
Yes they are cool and do most things... I still have mine too :)
Another awesome review,Thanks for sharing it.After seeing this i had to order one.Waiting for the mailman now.Cheers:)
:)
Excellent review, enjoyed that !
I'm waiting to hear the Fractal Fx8 flour unit before I spend Tony !! You have any plans to review this ? 🎶🎸
Unlikely. TBH I will only buy equipment that is from someone I trust. My trust in Fractal vanished a few years ago. And I particularly dislike the over the top generally distorted 'promotion' (lets call it that). But you take them as you find them... best of luck with it though.
Great review as always Tony. A beautiful amp for sure - John
Tony, I saw a write up of most of the Marshall Amps, like the JCM2000 being the best selling Marshall and now I can't locate the chart. Can you send me a link please?
Thanks,
Lou
Can this unit be used as a preamp only (no amp/cab models) to be used in the loop of a tube amp?
Can you do a full live performance with one of this with a Mesa Ninety and a 4x12 attached(for example)?
Thx for sharing.
Here's where I showed what I did: th-cam.com/video/ymyMzfjphxI/w-d-xo.html
If you buy a non powered Kemper then you have the 'hassle' of buying an amp.
Thanks for watching...
thank you very much. You are the best.
forgot to ask - have you compared this thing wish Axe-Fx I or II?
If you buy from Thomann, whats the situation on UK warranty? Is it still 6 months or not?
I wish you would have done a AxeFX ultra II demo. I would like to have someone like you
pick it apart and see if it all cracked up to be as good as some say. Or is it just smoke.
what is the signal chain what do you plug in first
Excellent review Im going to get one now you have convinced me.
+Paul Morgan I made this vid in 2012... and still have my Kemper. Its a great sounding unit. Thanks for watching.
Great review Tony, I own one and it is fantastic
Yes I still have my modded rack too :) - thanks for watching.
Hi Tony,
So I take it you are well pleased with the Kemper?
Thanks Tony ... good review
i just picked up the Kemper Profiler Rack and profiled my Wizard MCII last night and all i have to say about it is, know anyone looking to buy a Wizard MCII!?
It's really amazing!
hey man, great review. can you throw some light about its effects.
thanks :)
You will always be buying new gear if possible.
how about finishing the process and show how to store the profile you made
I was stationed in Germany and I agree there are some well made products being produced by their creative citizens/companies
I have heard bad things from Fractal outside of where they are made such as;
fan failures/noise and complete power failures
I never had an interest the Axe Fx 2 until Steve Vai had 2 in his tour rig and uses their pedal board
I think overall I'd be happier with a Bogner or Engl than anything else
Yes, that does sound like good service
I have only heard this guy mention negative things and some others have brought up the cooling fan having noise issues
I didn't know that. Man that is cool. I think I saw this machine at NAMM on the net.
How much do these currentl sell for and are these patches included?
+John Mills I think about £1150 (UK) but not too sure any where else. All the profiles come with the Kemper and thee are thousands to download ;)
Thank You,I ordered the rackmount.Great video :-)
One question,Can i connect this to a combo amp?
Well I did connect mine to the return of a regular amp and then make sure the speaker emulator is tuned off.... they work well in to a desk or PA.
***** Thank you Sir for answering the question, and keep on making these awesome videoes.
Rolf Egil Bolle Hey let me know how you go on with the Kemper...
***** Of course.
Only thing is you have to have the reference amp to get the sound.
Take in the store to get the sound from the amp, I don't think they will let you do that:)
So I'm confused. This seems to be a really "Kick Ass " sampler? It's not a modeler. It only has the "profiles" of the amps that you connect to it?
so do you like this better than helix?
Tanks for the question... always difficult to answer... and thanks for watching.
yes kinda hard to answer i guess. helix has lots to offer and has effects on board easy to use sounds great lots of routing for it too.
I'm wondering if that's true too.
Had both versions and sold them both with profit (the only good thing about this F thing :-)
Great demo and I liked your review from your website.
oh no doubt it sounds great but you have to chuckle at the cold war missile silo control room looks.
bang on video mate
Great video - though I dont feel you should knock other brands in a video about something else. FWIW Ive played with a KPA for the last 10 days or so, but it went back. I couldnt afford the KPA and the AFX2 - I went for the AFX. why? well the FX/routing is much better - but that aside I felt the tones were better on the AFX. This was down to me not having any amps to profile so was stuck with the included profiles and the ones available for download. There good but I couldnt get them right.
What happened to the video. I don't see it in your list?
Damn, I'm sold.
@tonymckenziecom So it really is best for people who have access to lots of amps and such that they use and to replace them with a portable amp they can take anywhere. Great idea think it is a really cool product probably not for me yet in time but cool non the less.
that is incredible
why is frankie28web leaving negative comments everywhere on the KPA? are you a competitor to Kemper?
HOW ABOUT TO PLAY LIVE IN A 5 MEMBERS BAND?
This amps looks like the front end of the Lost in Space robot. "Danger Will Robinson, Danger."
This is like the iMac of the music industry.
Never got to see the inside
Correct... it was harder to pull apart than two frogs in summer :) Thanks for watching.
You don't need ANY amps as it turns out... you can simply download rigs made by others. There's some really high quality ones out there done by people with studio grade signal paths. Some free, some not. Take a further look... it might be for you after all...
lmao you guys cracked me up, that sounds way better than the one for 2,000 pounds dan's like oh which one, tony oh i forget , and dan's all like struggling fffff frra come on you were gonna say fractal lmao axe fx 2 what??? exactly, i'm convinced on this one.
great!
if only you had switched the bloody room mic off and recorded the two via line in so we could actually hear the difference ;-(
What would happen if you were to have this amp "profile" someone singing into a mic or something like a mic'd piano? LOL...I guess nothing?
The Kemper isn't for a guy like me, because I don't have many amps.
You don't know.
Tony Mc IS Karl Pilkington.
Lol Hahaha.
