    Mate, I've had a slowy in my tyre for 9 months and couldn't be bothered to get ripped off by the kwikfit boys. Been topping it up every few days at the petrol station.
    If I'd known how bloody easy it was to fix myself, and on the cheap too!
    Thanks for this, I'm off to buy me one now.

    Ive bought one of the kits and used it several times with complete success for many thousands of miles a until the tires were worn down and needed repair. I bought this because previous repairs from the garage have slowly leaked air out and also I knew they were telling me the tyre could not be fixed and trying to sell me a new one yet I suspected they were gonna fix it when and sell it as a part worn when I went.

    Try and avoid handling the plug with your dirty hands. It will make the plug less sticky and less effective. I've had a plug inserted for over 6 years now and still going strong. Great video, very clear instructions.

    How long does this last. Did you manage to wear down that tire thread and that mended area still good?

    Thanks for the video, I'm also tired of paying the big bucks to have my tires plugged, I am going to buy me a tire kit and fix it my own tire next time a nail or screw gets in my tire.
    Great video !!!!

    when using a string type repair with the needle plunger, does it cut the string as you pull it out,,i watched a few of these videos now and no one explains how the string separates from the needle, is the needle hole which string is in sharp so it cuts the string as pull it out ,,cheers,,nice video mind,,helpful..probably the best one of these on you tube,,better than "professionally" made ones too !..i will check out you other videos mate,,

    I wonder as an Engineer if you could save yourself a penny or two and just use half the length of a plug, it might also reduce the noise level from the tyre? Any feedback from someone who has tried this or seen what a repaired tyre looks like from the inside would be good.

    Great video showing it only takes 5 minutes to fix with this sort of kit (plus removing the tyre, replacing the tyre etc.) Start the video at 1:50 and stop it at 2:05, and that's how long it takes to do the same job with LiquiTube, and that lasts the life of the tyre.

    When you pull the needle out, how the the plug separate from the needle when the plug goes through the middle of the needle?

    • @GTP006
      @GTP006 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The needle has a slit in it at the pointy end, when you pull out the pressure forces it to open and slip off the plug.

      +Scott Johnstone Really, even I was wondering. I just bought the kit today, but its all closed, no slit. Will try tomorrow.

    I think it's worth watching and knowing this for your own safety - th-cam.com/video/mdTAalpkSLM/w-d-xo.html
    As one commented, only central section punctures of tyres are repairable with plugs and outer tyre sides punctures should only be repaired in emergency (drive with 50 mph speed limits or lower) and it's best to replace both tyres on the same axle as soon as possible (in certain countries it's a legal requirement to have identical tyre tread pattern on the same axle others such as UK apparently not). Life is worth more than any money anyway.

    There's a slit on the tool which allows the tool to come away from the plug

    1. put more glue on
    2. dont push the second tool all the way in; let the last 2 cm of the brown plug stick out and cut it off later
    3. twist the second tool half a turn before pulling it out

    • @redmikekite
      @redmikekite 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Perplexer1 I Agree with you as I have one similar and i have use it a couple of times with complete success, i would only use this in the middle section of the tyre and if it was on the front tyre I would swap the wheel to the rear of the car.

    I like how you were checking for a leak with your spit, at the end you should also pee on it, just to make sure there is no leaking.

    A tire shop charges $15 dollars. If a kit is $5, you've save yourself $10.
    Inferior repair because you are not using the right tools to properly clean the hole and can't get at the inside to back patch it, which will likely result in decreased tire life and end up costing you more in the long run.
    This repair was way to close to the edge. Tire should have been replaced for this puncture.
    The most important DYI knowledge is understanding limitations.

    Last a long time, exactly how long is that, your driving down a motorway and it decides it doesn't want to last any longer. Say goodbye to your car and life insurance when you knowingly get in a car with a tyre repaired with this. My advice is use your spare or compressor and sealant to get you to where the tyre can be repaired or replaced by professionals, if they can repair it they sure as hell won't use this stuff. Some things you save money on, not tyre repairs which could cost you and others their life. I've been in engineering for 40 years in that time you get a sense for what's safe and what isn't, this stuff isn't safe, it's unreliable nature suggests it could last 3 years or 3 minutes, when it does fail, will you be on the motorway with your loved ones in the car??? It's frightening when people write that they've used this with great success, what they mean is they've used it and so far the tyre hasn't blown out up to the point they wrote about it, I wonder if that's still the case???
