  • On our first major adventure and BDR, we came to Ophir Pass not knowing what to expect. Well, it was rough for me. Dropped the bike 3 times all within 10-20 feet.
The rocks on Ophir Pass are significant in every manner, and once you get stuck or slowed down, its pretty much game over. However, We / I did make it up over with some help.
During the first layover, I tried to catch the bike and instantly tore my hamstring which then caused me to drop it. Then dropped a couple times after that just trying to get up to speed again from a dead stop. Of course, I was over packed for my first trip and the bike was top heavy to say the least plus the bike itself weighs over 500lbs.
I clipped the video to save you from minutes of heavy breathing.
Shout out to Saxton, the gentleman we camped with on the first night at GroundHog Reservoir we should of listened and bypassed Ophir Pass but we didn't. We did make it, but definitely was not enjoyable, at least for me. Big bikes are too big to risk it, especially going South to North.

30mph first gear isn’t the best idea for that terrain.
