Have a nice life 🖤
Have a nice life brought me here
Uh wuh?
This painting has been showing for me up a lot recently, specifically in music I have recently started listening to.
It is referenced in the album cover of Andrew Bird's new album, My Finest Work Yet.
A subsection is also used in the album art for Deathconsciousness by Have A Nice Life.
Probably a case of Baader-Meinhof, lol
Interesting to learn the history and context of the painting. I had always assumed it was a painting of suicide.
deathconsciousness is too good😭
I was going to comment about Andrew Bird but thank you for doing it for me! I love that album so so so much, especially Sisyphus. I love this channel and try to watch every video but I totally clicked on this one just because of Andrew Bird
I recognize the illusion in The Godfather part 2
this painting is deep, deep
These atoms are LIARS.
This was a nice quick one before the eternal worm devours Connecticut

Thank god that's over
Thank you for covering The Death of Marat. I find David's body of work utterly captivating and sometimes disturbing.
What a legendary painting. I saw it when I was a kid and it stayed in my mind
I feel the top of the roof come off
bloodhail
Killing everybody there
This is my new favourite channel! Keep on the good work Mr. Canvas 😄
I thought it was a painting of someone committing suicide when I saw it at the Louvre

"can you hear my faintest breath, is it Amplified? The number... that... I've become, it'll put you inside"
Whenever I see this painting, I always think of Peter Weiss' play 'Marat/Sade'. Thank you for reminding me of what David was doing.
and the great film adaptation of Marat/Sade by Peter Brook.
These kids don't even know
You don’t mention the reason for the assassination or what Marat was doing I think they’re pretty important facts
What do you mean what he do?
have a nice life
may I ask for some insight about your sources? I would like to research this work in more detail...
Poor Marat in your bathtub seat,
your life on this planet is near complete.
Closer, and closer, to you death creeps,
while there on her bench Charlotte Corday sleeps.
Poor Marat, if she slept too late,
while dreaming of fairy-tale heads of state,
maybe your sickness would disappear.
Charlotte Corday would not find you here.
Poor Marat, stay wide awake,
and be on your guard for the people's sake.
Stare through the failing evening light,
for this is the evening before the night.
-- Peter Weiss, _The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade_
I have it in my living room, it's one of my favorite paintings.
Hes so cute >w
All it says here is yippee ki yay?
MOTHER F
Marat was a mad man.
He had it coming.
Everything you do is planned out in advance
Most horrible actting
What?
Watch avatar the last air bender the movie
Corday was a hero!!
i think you might have watched oversimplified too much.
@@ulkuculerocaktakalms8170
I didn’t oversimplify. Marat endorsed and demanded the mass murder of hundreds of thousands of French citizens. Corday saved thousands of lives.
@@willmickel71i meant the channel "oversimplified". marat only targeted priests ans aristocrats. the white terror caused more destruction and loss of lives than the national convention in 93-94.
@@ulkuculerocaktakalms8170 Yes, this video didn’t explain why Corday killed Marat. One would walk away thinking she was mentally unstable rather than fearing the mass murder of her fellow citizens.
@@willmickel71 i did understand what you meant and i am saying that the "fellow citizens" were the filth of an old and rotten regime.
All these Reactionaries stealth defending the monarchy in the comments; long live Robespierre, long live the Jacobins, long live the Revolution, down with the divine right of Kings!
"stealth defending the monarchy"? Are you stealth defending the monarchy by acting like a deranged tankie?
@@jakef.7126 The Jacobins had no tanks; Tanks are a 20th century invention.
@@noheroespublishing1907 This is just about the worst take down against me I have ever read. You made me smile. Thanks! XD
Tell me you don't know about what actually happened in the French Revolution without telling me. The medicine was worse than the disease.
He had syphilis
