As a 3D Animator I think the trailer is mostly 3D animated. Camera movement, perspective changes and temporal coherence are way too good for any currently available AI video model. Some studio probably animated the whole thing and they just run that animation through AI style transfer program so it matches the look they already had for project. This would explain how cats move fluidly without morfing all the time but also give it that AI look we are familiar with at this point. Some static shots are most likely fully AI.. explaining girls 6 fingers etc.
Yeah i think that too but on the website there are some photos and animations that do look AI, like the light purple cat and the glasses next to it and the animation of the hat with the ears the way the ears come from the hat and then merge back together

The shots with the girl is not AI, since they reused the model for her boots and just switched the texture. Plus the sky they used for most of the trailer is literally a sky from Poly Haven ("Belfast Sunset" if you're wondering).

Maybe they just matched the AI generated look really well. It doesn't help that some physics like cat falling down stairs is all weird and slidy. Few shots of cats blinking are really AI like as well. Hard to know for sure of course.

As a 3D generalist with over 5 years of experience, to me, it looks like a bunch of stylized PBR rendered scenes. The character models are too consistent across scenes. The results appear to be beyond what current AI tools can achieve (Sora, Kling etc). I've used various AI tools, and none of them can match the performance demonstrated in this video. Veo 2, which was released 3 days ago, is the closest thing I've seen, but it's still not comparable to these results. And to add to that it only released to a small group of people, way too late for a studio to develop this trailer in time for the game awards. What is much more likely is that they generated a bunch of images in Midjourney to make a storyboard and handed that to an animation studio. The studio just did a good job at recreating the source material, which likely was AI generated.

In other thread several animators have analyzed it, come to the conclusion that at least the trailer is not AI. I am a 2D/3D artist (not a 3D animator, tho), and kindda see their points. That said, the number of scams I have seen (not only games) where the people willing to fool the public, DO pay real artists to make something good or just decent (it's the carrot, literally), so that people really fall for it, it is quite a high number. Heck, I was lured into that as an artist (illustrator) a pair of decades ago (a bit more, actually). I was nicely paid, but discovered later on (once my payments started to not reach my account, and my programmer mate (rip) was suffering the same fate), that the guy was fooling everyone (servers, investors, etc), and had used my art for his tricks. I really felt bad.

Witch hunting over ai is an L by default. Ai is already used extensively in all kinds of fields and the push against specifically generative ai only exists so art influencers can spread hate and go on ego trips with made-up morals. Charlie here jumps into the loud minority hate movement with some low effort, on the fence witch hunting so he can back down or double down on his lukewarm call on a dime.
I don’t think the trailer is fully ai, as in, I don’t think they just popped in a prompt and used whatever the generator popped out. There’s definitely been some human touch-ups made to try and hide all of the mistakes made by ai. Everything else is clearly Ai though, it’s clear that no real artist actually worked on this. This isn’t even the worst Ai ad I’ve seen though, just look at the Honda ad.
Serious question/input cause I have some thoughts I wanna share and discuss: I'm usually good with AI and I work in a multimedia agency and have also worked with some AI bs myself, but I'm not convinced this was actually made with/by AI... The whole story, the characters and their movement as well as the camera's is too consistent. AI wouldn't be able to create the scene at 0:16 with the two cats in the front, the stuff popping up AND the one cat on the top right jumping around - it's too many specific things going on at the same time! The scene at 0:19 is literally impossible to make since it has this kind of camera movement and even switches to the next cat, same thing for the scene at 0:23 At 0:36 you couldn't let the laser pointer thing appear and even have ALL the cats react to it It definitely looks and feels like AI but this one has more to it somehow - it's just too "clean" and "specific" to just be AI, it's also not just compositing, that would also be way too much effort... However, it may somehow be enhanced with AI and the pics at 0:46 are definitely made by AI

I work with a tiny amount of neural network at work and some as a hobby and this is not possible. BUT 3D rendering and CGI on the other hand have become respectfully insanely great and it is a sad time for 3D artist in a age were everyone thinks a 3D character rig rendered over several hours is AI made. This level of quality is simply not possible without hallucinations or any morphing yet

AI response via NPCs is actually a good idea. The feeling of providing a free text response like in the Oregon Trail, even if you are pushed down the same morale paths as standard Bioware games, would still give a feeling of choice I have not felt since maybe DA:Origins.

I was watching the game awards with my friends together and I fell asleep after about the half-way point and just assumed the trailer for this was something I saw in my dreams. Bizzare
People that protect the use of AI directly play into getting their own asses replaced by AI.

Witch hunting over ai is an L by default. Ai is already used extensively in all kinds of fields and the push against specifically generative ai only exists so art influencers can spread hate and go on ego trips with made-up morals. Charlie here jumps into the loud minority hate movement with some low effort, on the fence witch hunting so he can back down or double down on his lukewarm call on a dime.

I don’t think the trailer is fully ai, as in, I don’t think they just popped in a prompt and used whatever the generator popped out. There’s definitely been some human touch-ups made to try and hide all of the mistakes made by ai. Everything else is clearly Ai though, it’s clear that no real artist actually worked on this. This isn’t even the worst Ai ad I’ve seen though, just look at the Honda ad.

Serious question/input cause I have some thoughts I wanna share and discuss:
I'm usually good with AI and I work in a multimedia agency and have also worked with some AI bs myself, but I'm not convinced this was actually made with/by AI...
The whole story, the characters and their movement as well as the camera's is too consistent.
AI wouldn't be able to create the scene at 0:16 with the two cats in the front, the stuff popping up AND the one cat on the top right jumping around - it's too many specific things going on at the same time!
The scene at 0:19 is literally impossible to make since it has this kind of camera movement and even switches to the next cat, same thing for the scene at 0:23
At 0:36 you couldn't let the laser pointer thing appear and even have ALL the cats react to it
It definitely looks and feels like AI but this one has more to it somehow - it's just too "clean" and "specific" to just be AI, it's also not just compositing, that would also be way too much effort...
However, it may somehow be enhanced with AI and the pics at 0:46 are definitely made by AI

"AI inspiration" was a term I used as AI could have been used as a creative tool for the characters and setting later seen to life by artists using CGI. Happy?
I work with a tiny amount of neural network at work and some as a hobby and this is not possible. BUT 3D rendering and CGI on the other hand have become respectfully insanely great and it is a sad time for 3D artist in a age were everyone thinks a 3D character rig rendered over several hours is AI made. This level of quality is simply not possible without hallucinations or any morphing yet
Guessing they made an AI video originally and then just paid an animator to copy it and make a CG version without any AI flaws and make some changes then called it good. Might be how they make the whole game if they even intend to make something😅

I got recommended on TH-cam a trailer for Catly before it was featured in the game awards, I was heavily suspicious about it even looking at the thumbnail. I thought if it wasn't AI, it was a really shitty mobile game with the campaign of a triple A game. I never watched it but I pat myself on the back for my suspicions.
