Hi Nicole 🌺. Your garden looks amazing after temp drop and hopeanx hope your weather changes and becomes moderate so you can enjoy these pretty flowers of the Mandevillas in your garden . Have a lovely day .🌺🌻🌺
So true, it's been a rollercoaster for sure. Yes, we can definitely look forward to Spring, and I'm thankful for that. Thanks for writing and have a great afternoon!
good morning nicole , great video. yes it is a little sad right now. this will give us a break to rest up and the flowers also. your garden still looks beautiful. don't think the cold night hurt them at all. we will get ready for next spring and summer. i am going to start me some seeds this year. i hope that i will do better this time lol. i know that yours will be beautiful next time also. well thank you for sharing with us. hope you have a great day!!!
Great to hear from you! You're right, time to rest is near, and we can look forward to another beautiful growing season next year. You're going to start some seeds!? Good for you!! Let me know how that goes when you get to it. 😁
I've never had caladiums over winter for me, but I haven't put any effort into trying to get them to either. I think if they are heavily mulched some would survive. You should try it on a couple of them. I was going to try this year but mine all died when we had 117 degree temps for three days straight. I'm so ready for everything to die back 😂 Once that happens I can get in there and start weeding and figuring out what I'll be dividing and moving around. We've still been stuck in the 90s and I am so ready for the cooler weather. As crazy as it sounds I'm looking forward to seeing your garden after you have had your first hard frost. Whatever you do to your banana trees I'm going to do the same 😁 Cannas too, I think I cut mine all the way back last year
You can definitely use a dip in temps for some relief and to be able to do what you have to do. It's easier to heavily mulch the caladiums, I think, than to dig them up, so I might just go the easy route. 😅 What I expect I'll do is cut cannas all the way back, and probably bananas, too. I don't see myself wrapping the banana trees 😂 Suddenly I think I'm sounding pretty lazy, haha!
Hi Nicole, your garden is still thriving and beautiful! I saw Bougainvillea the colors of peach and a darker yellow in a beautiful container! Have you ever thought about mixing different colors of Bougainvillea together? 🧡💛🧡💛
Hi - great to hear from you. I would LOVE to mix bougainvillea colors, but strangely, I barely saw any this year! Not sure what was different from last year. I thought I'd get myself another beauty, but nope, not in the cards. That might be the perfect new addition for my 2024 garden though 😁 Have a great afternoon!
Nicole I live in southern Mississippi zone 8b; I have never dug up my caladium bulbs. When they start dying back I cut them to the ground and mulch well with leaves and\pine straw.
Hi there - great question. I have a ceramic space heater that I run during the cold nights of the winter. Nothing fancy, but it has worked well for me for the last 2 winters. I find I don't need any heat source during the days because the sun heats everything right up.
Love your garden!! I’m new to Emerald Isle and I was wondering if you will leave your mangave, pineapple outside or bring it into your greenhouse for the winter?
Hi there, thank you so much! I'm leaving the Pineapple Express Mangave outside, I have decided. I did separate a little pup from the bigger plant earlier this year, so I think I'll bring that in the greenhouse, and we'll just see what happens. It's kind of risky, but at the same time, it shows it can be hardy in our area, so...

Thank you! 😁❤ It's still a roller coaster of Summer and Fall, but beautiful nonetheless. Thanks so much for writing and for your support!
Hi Nicole, this fall has been a rollercoaster. It is sad to see all the beautiful blooms disappear, but we can look forward to spring. Great video! 🌺

I feel ya .. it’s sad 😢
Ocracoke Island gardener here!
Yep, some people love this time of year, but I'm not one of them. Spring in the garden is the absolute best!

And then they come back for you??? I hope that's what you meant because if it is, you just made my day. I love the caladiums! Thank you!
Good morning Nicole I was wondering how do you keep your Greenhouse warm
