- This is where we start to take her all apart and take a deep dive into the components themselves, analyze the decisions made on components and why they were made to keep the bike at this seemingly unreal price point.
Cant wait to see what the final product looks like! 🎉
Another great video. Nice to see someone who is an industry professional showing us more about the G.1. Thank you for the video.
I have both drop and flat bar versions and started making a few basic upgrades, seat and post as well as pedals. Solid performance so far.
I just noticed these finally come in a size for dutch males. I lol'd when you pulled the seat post .... It's all about the top tube for me and that's a wee bit harder to "make it work"
Wanted one of these for so long. Slightly lighter wheelset? I feel like rotating mass is the best reduction. Also, i think there is a 1x option online.
80’s ‘adult film’ background music. 😆
I bought that bike to see if I would get into “gravel” but I was living in Florida but there was no gravel. Sand and paved roads. lol. Now that I moved to the Cleveland area I’m hopping to get some dirt riding in the spring. I see it like this, if you go with the mindset that is a $250 Walmart bike with decent components, you will be just fine. If you go at with the mentality that you’re buying a $1500-2000 bike for $250 you will be in for a rude awakening. 😂 it’s a great bike to get into gravel or just to commute. Not for competition or heavy riding, at least not right out the box. I’m currently considering just riding it until the crappy parts give out and find a good, used, mid level mountain bike cheap and just swap things out. So far, I’m very impressed for $250 can’t beat it. Seats sucks thought.
Not too many gravel roads in greater Cleveland. Most of my gravel riding is out in Ashtabula County (and even then there is less than I would like) and the traffic volume is quite low. Good roads too.
I am interested to hear what you think of changing to a carbon fork in future videos.
@@bobk381 it’s really an interesting topic of discussion. Yes! A carbon fork could save as much as 2 lbs but the cost to safely add a quality carbon fork really toes the line on this bike. It’s the same with most upgrades. It’s a $250.00 bike, can you justify a $300.00 carbon fork? A 700.00 wheelset? We say the frame merits the upgrade but you almost need to look at the $250.00 purchase price is a quality frame that came with free components to get you riding! 🤣
I’ll be following your upgrade project.
