Pity that great Azerbaijani tradition of muqam/makam was not mentioned in the interview. At age 16, Mark was inspired by Habil Aliyev's performance, a prominent kamancha player, and moved to Baku, Azerbaijan to learn kamancheh under guidance of Adalat Vazirov.He says "This was the first time I heard this sound, but I felt as though I had always heard it within me, as though it were my own inner voice. I had chills, and I knew definitively that I had to quit the saz, and start playing this new instrument..." I wish Mark all the best in his music career. And never forget your teachers and the country you studied in. Azerbaijan loves you! 😍
Nargiz, I heard Mark talk with so much love about his teacher from Azerbaijan practically in every interview. This interview had to be short, it was edited, but you can believe me, both Piris and Mark Eliyahu are full of appreciation for Adalat Vezirov.
You should listen more attentively or rather read subtitles more carefully! Peretz mentioned Muqam in this interview
Pavement for sustainable success is thankfulnes and appreciation of your teachers. Mugam as a science excist only in Azerbaijan, and there you can find academic base of it. Yes, it is a common cultural heritage of all Middle East and even India, but developed and kept alive mainly in Azerbaijan. Mark, you are not obliged everywhere appreciate your teachers and inspiration from Habil Aliyev, but for your own success in future, you have to do it!

Deceptions is another avenue to lies that cannot be truthful or able to be transparent out of fear to admit who you are ...for xample are you Jewish or Greek or Pakistan or Iranian...why the hell you beating around the bushes also are you gay or home or are you straight...???? Are you just good enough with mediocrity of life and fortune or escaping from the truth that everyone wants to know so they can feel proud of that transparency no matter if they like the truth or not but they always will honor the truth..NOW that is a very Good leverage to be accepted

Saying that Western music cares more about structure than emotion and that the Eastern is more emotional and fluid is mere prejudice. The complex formal musical development of the West doesn't make it less emotional, on the contrary, new forms and structures so that expressing emotions in a more variety of ways and senses. The fact that the form and structures of Eastern music are more "simple" doesn't make them formless or more "free". Actually Eastern music is strongly structured, differently, but very structured. What the older guy is basically saying is: hey, our music is more simple but we've got the soul and the emotion. There is much rivalry and prejudice in that. Music is universal, emotional and formal in the whole planet. Much love.
