I wish all the Predator movies since the 1st one, including the Feral in Prey would retain a subtle design which seem to have been de-emphasized/ignored/missed. For the OG predator, the tips of the top 2 mandibles overlaps on the bottom 2 at an angle, and they tap on the bottom 2 to create the tapping/clicking sound which seems to be part of the Yautja's language (or at least 1 of their ways to communicate). The top & bottom mandibles of the Feral simply lay out vertical/parallel to each other, which do not suggest any tapping/clicking... maybe even the other Predators also consider them "feral" since they are not well built for "communication". 😁

My best guess is that his crossbow has some kind of proximity protocol that when near the bio mask it will automatically activate the aim bot. But when separated it will shoot where it is aimed. Since he was shown to be reckless and overconfident maybe it was an oversight or a gimmick he hasn’t ran into yet within his arsenal. by the end of the movie he had no clue his bio mask would be anywhere near him let alone pointed right at his fugly forehead
I usually don't watch actions movies so i was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. The cinematography, action scenes, pacing and almost everything else was just so good 😆
As a die hard Predator fan this movie was a breath of fresh air and was amazing to watch. To me the Feral Predator seems like a youngblood on his ritual hunt. 3 indicators to this is for 1, he bares no marking regarding the success to his rite of passage, 2 he's small(er) in size compared to other predators that have been present in previous films, and 3, his dreadlocks aren't ceremoniously braided which takes place after their right of passage, distinguishing them as a blooded warrior. These are just my thoughts :), i pray that they make more Predator films down the road.
@@Rhuni. ahhh ok, your right he’s not as bulky. He’s still pretty tall am def more lean. If anything I’d say he might be 1 of the physically strongest. He picked up a fully grown bear over his head an killed it with his punch. I haven’t seen any other predator on screen with those strength feats.
The Orange Tutsia was used to cool blood to slow the blood flow from his wounds. It wasn't until later on that she realized that it could make you appear invisible to the Predator.
Except that is not how human body works. If your body does not emit enough heat to be traceable on the infra red….. it is DEAD. Total shutdown and failure of all organs. Our body is not happy with gaining or losing a few degrees Celsius. Losing 30-36 to become invisible is guaranteed death. Prey was such a bad story
He was pretty beat up by the end of the film. Took alot of damage. Wolf, bear, gunshots, stabbed by his own, hit by arrows, spear from the back, bear trap on his leg and a gunshot in the back of the head. Despite these Injuries, he was able to fight quite a bit with Naru. Even having enough energy to leap from trees. He could've snapped her beck when he grabbed her but he wanted a more dramatic finish. Hm.
@@AcidGlow and he lost his mask at that point. And the past movies all tell us their vision is terrible. So he probably was no where near as accurate as he could have been. Like fighting cross eyed.
Not just that but imo they made the predator seem weak and incompetent with his weapon at least in the older versions there was a hard fought battle to defeat a predator. Dutch and Harrigan was wore out but she was barely winded and without a scratch. The mask looked more like something it scavenged from Fred Flintstone's backyard instead of a highly technical weapon of beings capable of intergalactic travels. Imo It was still a good watch but a terrible finish.
@@marcushennings9513 well, i get that. But leaning to it a bit more, Comanche were a waring people with high endurance. They had a history of long hunts and fighting with neighboring tribes constantly. The others were just military/cop. One was a muscle head, and big muscles dont really have endurance. Running around in the jungle like that would be devastatingly tiring. And the other was an older man, who would not have as much endurance either. Not to mention that of everyone he seemed the most average a person to fight the predictor.
It was a reverse of the mountain lion, her brother finished what she started and she finished what he started with the Feral. Let's face it if Feral hadn't dipped with his cloak he was in trouble, Tabe had successfully pulled off shock and awe and was in control on that fight , he shook feral bad enough he he cloaked and came back and stabbed him in the back, which would probably have got feral in trouble if he had lived.
I means, that is common in youth, especially during their first time. Sees a pretty girl, gets overly excited, all concludes with a premature end and an unsatisfying, shameful experience.
I’d like to think the idea of their being different variations of the same species makes sense. They evolve to adapt to whatever climate there clan is found. Maybe their species have branched out to different planets slightly changing the way they look from clan to clan. The jungle variation being more prominent since their home planet is mostly jungle covered.
Say, Naru and Billy might be connected; Maybe some time after the timeline of Prey, Naru's descendants somehow marries a Sioux member, and then the bloodline goes down to Billy. That's my theory,
The other three ships are badbloods coming to take revenge on the tribe for killing the ferel predator. Grayback seeing them kill the tribe without honor intervenes and teams up with naru to hunt and kill the badbloods. After the battle, grayback gives naru his sword and she gives grayback the flintlock.
I think I heard that the predator was supposed to reflect native American folklore in this movie. In my opinion that was a very smart choice. So in the predator universe the wendigo was actually a predator.
Bro, I never thought I’d enjoy seeing a predator fight a bear SOOO much, however the scenes when predator uses trees illustrates his insane agility and is terrifying!
@@verdugo7974 You have to get the science right and thennnn make up stuff to suspend disbelief😂 Should it also include a beheading and the person just pops their noggin back on? Because you know we suspend our disbelief for a Predator, why not bad writing hey? That attitude is literally why movies suck, even in games they at least attempt to get details right. For instance, Dead Space, zombie infections don’t exist sure but when he’s out in the vacuum of space lol he’s out there for 7 seconds tops and that happens to be the theorized amount of time you could possible survive in space. Should they not have included that?? Riddle me that
True! I hate when you already have to accept the alien part but to add bad medicine or science, not just once but throughout the whole movie then it’s stupiddddddd✨
Sooooo there are some issues with your comments on the Comanche and fur traders especially. First being the Comanche had a good relationship with the fur traders and around 1701 they started trading buffalo furs for horses and guns. So by 1719 the Comanche were well versed in firearms. The reason the Comanche were so dominant was because of their incredible horsemanship (think Mongolians) and because they were able to establish good trading relationships making them an Economic powerhouse of the time. Native Americans did value all life, however, a favorite hunting tactic of the Comanche was to drive entire buffalo herds off of cliffs and harvesting what they needed to trade. The US didn’t start mass killing buffalo until about 120 years later. Which in turn crippled the Comanche economy. Disney had an amazing opportunity to show what actual Comanche life was like and completely wasted it. They had incredible Ambush and hit and run tactics that would have been so cool to see in this movie, but instead we just got racist generic Native American “culture”.
@@vrviking8930 huh Disney didn't do much with the film cause they are still unsure how to work with the stuff they got from the buy out with fox otherwise this film and the rest of the movies would be on Disney plus by now
My theory is, the feral predator figured it's targets were close enough that the dart would still hit them and then curve away. Hence the near misses when he shot it. But I could be wrong
They truly need to make another Alien Vs Predator Film with better story telling and directing. I think PREY shows that you can still reboot a franchise and actually make a great film by trying new things. I’m an AVP fan but the films don’t do the lore justice and would gladly appreciate another take fresh take like this film did for PREDATOR.
She used the mask better then the predator that is a huge problem. He misused the bolt caster twice. It wasn't just the shot to the head the movie at the end it made the Predator stupid.
Hey Acid Glow! Great commentary as usual. As much as I enjoyed Prey, I’ll admit that I’m getting tired of the same ol one trick pony Predator films where the Predator basically comes to Earth 🌍 to die. The plot is very predictable and the only anticipation that the fans have are the new weapons that the Predator will fight with along with a few good kick-butt moves. Prey was a great movie, but it felt like it was too late as if it should have been released YEARS ago instead of making the fans wait 30 plus years for a good sequel. The fact that this film had to pull on so many Easter Eggs from the first two ( better) films in the franchise shows just how bad this franchise was on life support. Now we see that the Predator can breathe without the use of a ventilator, I believe the next films should delve deeper into their homeland, culture and customs without any humans present. I would love to see the Yautjas free themselves from the slavery of the Amengi or even hunt down Bad Bloods. At least there will be a worthy surviving and victorious Predator(s). I feel that exploring different lores is crucial at this time considering that the Predator franchise is now in the recovery stage. Thanks again for another great video and have a great day!
It's in the recovery stage - so you want to do the exact same thing that ruined the franchise in the first place. 'Prey', was a great movie _because_ it practically told the same basic story as the only other truly great movie in the franchise: 'Predator'. It's not just coincidence. Some stories are so simple you can't make more of them without destroying what makes them work as films - and you actually don't have to try, just to try and be clever. Find some kind of way to survive against an unknowable and practically invincible space-hunter. That's. It. In this case, that's the human-scale basis of a story that works. Who could give a damn about its homeland and its different problems? Where's the human drama in that story? Even, 'Predators' didn't divert from the basis that much - but even that was still enough to make it garbage: forget human team-up's against this 'n' that alien and gene-splicing autism... "Exploring lores", on film, is the last thing anyone should do. Leave it to comics and conventions.
I will say this… I simple believe it knew about the helmet targeting system with the spear gun. First time feral shot his spear gun without his helmet, we all saw that the shots were close to Taabe while he was on the horse. But he dodged the shots. Final battle we see almost the same thing. Feral legit had no idea about the placement of the helmet, not being a Stan but as a fan of the lore, feral got shot in the head by a flintlock; And sliced off its arm with the shield and wasn’t fazed. Adrenaline (kill gland) was a factor at least in universe canon…. Great to see the predator franchise make a comeback with all across the fandom!!!!
Maybe it was once used just as a sharp, pointy spear only able to be fired forward and nothing more. Then it evolved and some sort of guidance system was added to make the projectile act like a radar-guided missile or a torpedo in the water - i.e. - being able to track the target "lit up" by the device embedded in his helmet or "mask". Otherwise you cannot explain his mistake. He takes the mask off and fires it straight forward with intent to kill & finish off his prey, but the arrow makes almost whole turn and hits his head from the side. If you are trained to use a weapon in a certain way, you don't suddenly change the firing procedure, so he must have used it once the same way you would use a simple - almost "medieval" - bow ...with the one & only differece that his "bow" and bolts were extremely much more powerful. PS. Plus his device must have quite a few of them. If they were left on a planet for years - maybe decades - he could run out of them easily. It woud also make sense then, that they would switch to more evolved weapons like that "gun" they carry on heir shoulder later on. Maybe they would run out of projectiles to shoot, while that "pulse gun" can seemingly fire endlessly. You can see how their weapons evolve throughout the whole saga. I'm guessing their most evolved weapons were the ones in the movie "Predators" where they use a specific planet as a testing ground not only for their hunters, but heir weapons, too.

It’s not the first time that a franchise retconned any expanded stories. Star Wars did the same thing. Many things were canon until Disney took over and then most extended stories were no longer canon, like The Force Unleashed games, and most of the comics.
That's the biggest issue they have a habit of producting a movie with no reading of older sources. They trash everything I have seen so far that they have bought. The company does not care about any of the previous work and just lets directors/writers do whatever. I have not seen this new movie Prey, Too me its weird for I seen two video games come out with the same name. Imo Anything disney has gotten their slimy mits on is something if possible you can enjoy but do not take as cannon... Shame really, First Star Wars then marvel, now Predator and I bet aliens is next since they own that as well. As they say this is only the beginning.
I think it didn't care about the bio mask and was just free shooting since it didn't have his bio mask. Like instead of using the scope you just free shoot.
AG, do the predators make some of their weaponry themselves? Like they all use different weapons, but all use the same standard type helmets, wrist blades and shoulder cannons. It makes me wonder if the reason why we see different weaponry between them, is as part in the right of passage of becoming a hunter. They make their own personalised weapons, could be why we always see unique weaponry being used by each predator. It’s something that I’ve never seen addressed and bugs me hahaha, only hear talk describing the weapons. There maybe something in the lore, I may not be aware of.
Wait……the predator loses because he doesn’t know how his own gear works?!? A species that trains its young to be hunters from childhood….forgot how his primary weapon works? Twice?!? And if you “cool” your blood low enough to avoid thermals…..you’re dead. I’m glad I didn’t go pay for this. I’d have been pussed off at that ending. I’ll wait for it on tv
The thermal vision only highlights a specific range. And is also a movie. The gun part, makes sense only if the predator was out on his first hunt, and the gun was new to him. Both times he shot it with out his mask he got either shot in the head or decked by a massive club to the back of the head. First time he shot while getting hit, cause he was aiming at the dog. The second time was at the end and she was 5 get away from him, and had been shot and probably got dumbed down allot
He didn't know the helmet was there for the targeting to activate. I think.one could safely assume that with out the targeter it would just work like a spear gun and that's what he planned on that's why he was shocked when the bolts swerved
Watch carefully. The Net Gun which has to be thrown, your words. Is not retrieved, it's a mobile man mincer. I saw it mince a man then just lie there. I never saw it get retrieved. Maybe i should make time in my life to read a few comics.
so the filmmakers didn't have a predator Bible with all the necessary backstory I would laugh if the studio Executives just sent them the TH-cam link to your Channel LOL

What if the feral predators become the super predators through genetic modification or something and greyback gets the pistol as a gift helping the tribe fight off the feral predators that aren’t as honorable and drive them away from earth, this would also explain the bad blood between the predators too or just be an example. 🤷🏻♂️
What if the ferals were the first species of predators but then evolved into a better killer with the og preds and now there adapting even more with super preds
I would say the Feral Predator thought his mask was gone and thst his prey would not understand the functions of his technology and how the targeting system works in vicinity of the harpoon gun and use it against him if they had possession.
I like to believe the Feral Predator is just one of the many firsts to come to the planet. Maybe a few 50 years after they free themselves from enslavement from the Amengi. And adapt to weapons and all later to have to shoulder cannons and bombs later in life. Because. If the feral had an arm bomb. It would have activated it when he came out of that mud swamp put instead of trying to arrow kill Naru knowing his mask controls the arrows and it isn’t on his head for the aim.
I almost gave up watching the movie after she shoots it in the back of the head, the ball travels right through his head and blows his mask off....but predator is like "Nahhh its fine".
I see this as not a full-grown Predator Yautja. They stole a ship and hit autopilot to a previously plotted planet. They were too excited and anxious to wait, become an adult, and to go through the ceremonial process. They wanted to prove they had what it took NOW. That's why they didn't understand the plasmacaster/targeting laser. They were never properly instructed by Elders and lacked the respect (like a kid finding a gun in their dads underwear drawer). A new "type" of Predator? I don't buy that. It would only work if the Yautja weren't pleased with this "type", so they were fazed out and that's why we don't see them in the future (our IRL past movies, comics, etc...). The Yautja are interesting in doing things to alter their genetics, to make them better at hunting. Bigger, Stronger, 4 Arms! Make their faces different so they look more hacked up? I don't see that being towards the top of their list. Would it kill movie and TV producers to actually have people that are fans of the franchise work on that new content? Klingons, Holdo Maneuver, the Flintlock Pistol. All could have been avoided if they had a fan working there and they said, "yeah, here is why that is an issue." Then that fan could come up with a compromise that wouldn't piss off fans, but still make sense enough that the Superfans aren't pissed off and you don't ruin 2 trilogies of movies because they should have been going Kamikaze at Lucrehulks and Star Destroyers, with R2 droids piloting Y-Wings, straight through them the whole fucking time then. Why bother to have Luke fire proton torpedoes and hit a 2 meter wide exhaust port? Just kick a few ships into hyperdrive right through the Death Star. No Force Needed Sand Wizard!
The feral predator is a developmentally disabled predator dropped off on the planet of the hairless apes ( aka Earth) by his Uncle Carl so he can go hunting with his friends, unfortunately feral gets marked by the natives. Boy, is his mom going to be pissed.
I absolutely love Yauja lore and I liked Prey well enough but the only way the movie works is if this predator is incredibly young, very inexperienced, and a bit more impulsive/dumb than ur average Yautja. I get that we have to suspend our disbelief a bit, cause when a savage alien creature is breakin 900 pound grizzly necks with one punch, but then struggling to finish off a 100 pound girl , there either has to be a healthy element of luck to her victory and/or the predator in the film has to possess some negative traits that end up leveling off the playing field a bit. Otherwise ur just asking a lil too much from ur audience and ur movie risks falling a bit too far from feasibility. Fir predator media to thrive again, we have to start looking at the Yautja species like even they stripped off all weapons and advantages, a human actually fighting one in hand to hand combat would be utterly pointless. The Jungle Hunter wasnt even trying and he was beating the absolute dog shit outta dutch. Dutch got smashed so bad he had to literally elbow crawl to his trap at end and that was PRIME Arnie! At that point in the movie, u finally realized what they were all really up against the entire time and that without a healthy dose of luck, one of the strongest ,most battle hardened, spec ops soldiers on the planet wouldve been nothing more than just another skull in the Jungle Hunter's carry-on luggage. THATS what made the original predator scary, cause by the end of the movie u realized that even our most savage men stood absolutely ZERO chance against him and pure dumb luck was the only contributing factor to winningvthe day.
I’m just glad Daniel Trachtenberg will make more movies in the series. And Feral is the most hideous Yautja in the series. There’s no relation to it and Comanche mythology tho.
@@Tarnished-bn5gq it's like a game of telephone tho. Frankly it was a fun movie but it's very clear the writters never read predator lore ever. The Feral made a lot of decisions that would disgrace it as a member and would get him banned from the tribe. It was pretty ridiculous.
I kinda wanted to see this but the explanation for how she beats him is ridiculous in premise. Even an unblooded Predator would have enough experience with their weapons to not make a mistake like that once but twice and end up killing themselves.
2 movie mistakes here for you 1. The Comanche was not that far north they was in the new Mexico Arizona and Texas territory at the time 2. Mass buffalo skinning just for their skin didn't happen until 100 plus years after the events of the movie

No need to. I'm fine with letting them try new designs. But the AVP 2004 ones weren't as good imo. I liked Wolf and the Super Preds. City Hunter is my favorite. The 2018 movie was not as good, kind equal to the AVP 2004 movie in terms of quality. The rest have minor issues that don't really strike me as failures.. Feral had a huge forehead. I'm not into it but it's okay since they said "it's a different breed". I don't expect them to make the same design for 5 movies.
This movie was absolutely on hit and on par with requiem but the only thing that kept it from being perfect is the fact this yautja like all the others before it died why is it that the greatest inter galactic hunter being so strong with all this wonderful technology can never survive a hunt so how are they such great hunters if they can’t survive a hunt I don’t know but it realy sucks humans can never be that superior to a predator no matter what we don’t have the strength let alone the technology to compete and why would they ever share there technology with us humans anyway regardless but in a mutual agreement I can see but none the less I honestly believe this is the best predator movie to date it was great and I hope there’s more to come this yautja was indeed a yautja in every way and form awesome! and if they stick to that with just a touch more action it would no doubt be a classic and the best movie ever for all time but they came so close to perfection on this one I can’t wait for the next one truly awesome !!!!

I did like this movie way better than the last feasco. Did it save the franchise. In my opinion no. I have many issues with this movie. First and foremost, Naru understood the Predator tech to easily, namely how a laser designator works. I'm sorry but a person pretty much living in the stone age would not be able to do that. She was also able to remember how a Flintlock worked, from memory, after just being told, not shown, while a Alien creature is bering down on her. Let's not forget the Vouyagures, and Native Braves were pretty much wiped out, quite easily. The explanation for this is she used her witts to defeat the Predator, but when she came up upon the bear she did not remember she was up wind of it, an animal she does know very well. This Predator is either the worst hunter in Predator history, or the most arrogant.

Prey was such a bad story
the director literally said "it was THIS predators first time on earth, not predators"
great movie!
I like the way the predator can KO a charging bear but can't beat up a girl

“Prey”- when your first time doesn’t go as planned.
I means, that is common in youth, especially during their first time.
Sees a pretty girl, gets overly excited, all concludes with a premature end and an unsatisfying, shameful experience.
A brilliant movie and alot of love with the development, I highly praised for it's visual and story and casting and the team.

Something about Billy in Predator made it seem like he knew or had an idea of what it was.
Say, Naru and Billy might be connected; Maybe some time after the timeline of Prey, Naru's descendants somehow marries a Sioux member, and then the bloodline goes down to Billy. That's my theory,
Nice video thank you very much
The other three ships are badbloods coming to take revenge on the tribe for killing the ferel predator. Grayback seeing them kill the tribe without honor intervenes and teams up with naru to hunt and kill the badbloods. After the battle, grayback gives naru his sword and she gives grayback the flintlock.
Well in the comics it's actually a pirate that's give grayback the flintlock

As a native first thing i taught when i saw the predator was how his mask made me think of the wendigo
I think I heard that the predator was supposed to reflect native American folklore in this movie. In my opinion that was a very smart choice. So in the predator universe the wendigo was actually a predator.

You know i'm just recounting the movie's timeline.

Just saw this last night with my wife, we really enjoyed this!
What scenes did you enjoy the most?
I would love an animated predator film or project.
I'd love for neca to come out with this version of Predator figure
🤣 yes I was told not to whistle at the northern lights or the spirits would take me away.

3 dots laser is means lock, single dot is unlock target
AG, do the predators make some of their weaponry themselves? Like they all use different weapons, but all use the same standard type helmets, wrist blades and shoulder cannons.
It makes me wonder if the reason why we see different weaponry between them, is as part in the right of passage of becoming a hunter. They make their own personalised weapons, could be why we always see unique weaponry being used by each predator.
It’s something that I’ve never seen addressed and bugs me hahaha, only hear talk describing the weapons.
There maybe something in the lore, I may not be aware of.
Was feral blooded?
naru has plot armor
I noticed that whenever the predator touches solid objects it effects the camouflage so maybe that’s the case
Kinda how mud doesn't erase your body temperature huh?
It Actually made the scene pretty funny
Anyone else think Naru is going to get an extended life span from smearing the Predator blood on her?
good point
I assume the Feral Predator had thought his bio mask was destroyed in the fight.
I always thought the skull mask was an Amengi skull but probably wouldn't make sense and maybe a native beast from yaujta prime

Surely when it lifts the bear ,the wrist blades or shield are activated.
Yea the wrist blades are activated, thats why the bear bleeds its guts out. I didnt notice that until after watching it again
The spear could've honest just been gifted to the predator as well

Mostly Predator get killed by his own weapon
I like to believe the Feral Predator is just one of the many firsts to come to the planet. Maybe a few 50 years after they free themselves from enslavement from the Amengi. And adapt to weapons and all later to have to shoulder cannons and bombs later in life. Because. If the feral had an arm bomb. It would have activated it when he came out of that mud swamp put instead of trying to arrow kill Naru knowing his mask controls the arrows and it isn’t on his head for the aim.
Or the predator used his blades to help pick up the bear. Don’t know how else the predator would get a good grip in order to pick up the bear.
They can't say they were treating it historically accurate and have a female warrior, naru would've been sold off.
Studios NEED to do more homework. There's no excuse for this...
