Remarkably Bright Creatures, was my favorite book of 2023. At first I thought there was no way I could get into it, but it grabbed me and I couldn't put it down!!
April! Thank you so much! 🤍 your recommendation Reconstructing Amelia salvaged me from a 1.5 year reading slump. I am, also, currently reading Kill For Me Kill For You, another recommendation by you, and I am enjoying it a lot!
I just finished "How to Sell a Haunted House." and I'm also a big Grady Hendrix fan. He's truly an outlier in this genre, in that I wouldn't necessarily say his books are "scary" to me. More 'creepy' or 'outlandish' I guess. I also LOVE his humor and how absurd things get with Pupkin. Lol.
Oh yes! That's my Libby. She passed away a couple of years ago. But I have Winnie now (also a cav - black and tan) and she makes appearances here and there on my channel!
Hello, April! Your videos are always such a treat…couldn’t help but notice what a lovely lip gloss you’re wearing! Do you mind sharing where is it from? X
New subscriber! Happy to meet a fellow Canadian. Loved hearing your top 23 and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on other books. Added new books to my TBR!!! Bright Young women is in my TBR of January!
I'm really looking forward to read all of them!! Specially The September House. This is one of my favourites videos of your channel, when you talk about your favourites of the year. I find your videos so calming and interesting. Love from Argentina!
One of the more memorable books I read this year was Emily Wild's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Emily is a socially challenged loner, who travels to the North to document their Wee Folk.
Just subscribed! Homecoming tied with Demon Copperhead as my favorite reads of the year! Homecoming is amazing and so underrated. Love your personality and presentation style. Very wonderfully relatable! Thank you!
Hello!! Thank you so much for saying that! Oh I ADORED Homecoming. I read that a few years back and it was one of my favourites of that year. Maybe 2019? So good!
I’m adding The Paying Guest onto my 2025 tbr. I had this one on my shelves for a few years now but wasn’t sure if the writing was for me (I have another of hers) so I’ve been wondering if I should unhaul or not but after it making your top ten I will give a go of it! I also am adding that last one by Jessica Knolls to my 2025 tbr and Homecoming as well - I’m not buying in 2024… since I’m convinced I have at least 50 5 star reads to get to that I already own!!
Hi April, I also enjoyed last year reading small things like these but if I were to pick, I would say I really liked the bodyguard and the dead Romantics both not your favorite the romances and not in romance I would have to say I’m glad my mom died was very good.

Me too!
Coincidentally, I finally started The Paying Guests today. It’s been on my shelf for years. It’s my first Sarah Waters books.
How funny is that? Wasn't it wonderful!?

Whaaaat?! This is wonderful! I am so happy to hear that it got you out of a slump. I hate a reading slump!

You remind me of Vanessa Bayer!
So many people say that!! :) I love her.
New to this channel and anyone who has a king Charles spaniel picture on their shelf next to books is my kind of channel

My daughter's first child was Phoebe, a Cav, King Charles. Now she has kids and big rescue dogs.
Loved September House.
Our Wives Under the Sea was on my shortlist too. It really stuck with me. And that cover! It's gorgeous.
Such a great book!!!

Oooo I think that was one of my Hourglass Phantom Balms! They're very nice - slightly overpriced but a nice treat yourself moment!
I absolutely loved Our Wives Under the Sea too. One of my favourite books of 2023. I definitely want to read Small Things Like These this year ☺
I loved Small Things Like These when I read it last month. I adore the simple, elegant writing and story.
Same here!
I am picking up my hold for Bright Young Women soon! Loved September House, The Last Word and Small Things Like These!

Our Wives Under the Sea also made my top 15 video 😊 so so good! The ending was so devastatingly beautiful
Yes it was so devastating!!!
Drowning was my favorite book of 2023 followed close by We Begin At The End
One of the more memorable books I read this year was Emily Wild's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Emily is a socially challenged loner, who travels to the North to document their Wee Folk.
Glad to see you making videos again!
More to come!
I loved seeing your favorites. We have nearly the exact same taste, and I've read most on your list. The others are now on my Amazon wish list!
Oh, I adored HOMECOMING!!!
Just subscribed! Homecoming tied with Demon Copperhead as my favorite reads of the year! Homecoming is amazing and so underrated. Love your personality and presentation style. Very wonderfully relatable! Thank you!

Wait. I read Homegoing. THAT I read a few years ago and loved it. Homecoming was this year. My brain is scrambled can you tell? So many good books!
Bright Young Women is on my TBR.
My two favorite books of the year were the chain and the southern book club’s guide to slaying vampires. As per your recs!!!
The Chain is still on my shelves unread! Bahhhhhh!!!! I must rectify this!!!!
Omg! I thought The Chain was one of your favorites. Anyway, you have to read it!!
Great list ❤

I put Reconstructing Amelia on hold at my library yesterday.
I hope you love it!
My favorite book was We begin at the end by Chris Whitaker.
Great list, happy new year 🎉

I can’t land on a top one. 😬 Can I give you 4? 😂 No particular order: Foe, No Exit, The Art Thief, The Feather Thief.
The thief books stole your heart last year! Ha ha...ugh I hang out with my corny husband too much.
❤😊
