When I first saw his son’s face, I saw goodness in his face. Then you shared about all his philanthropy and other stuff, and yeah, he is an ok guy, but the tacky gold cars, maybe he’ll grow out of that... it’s absolutely amazing what the Sheik has accomplished in Dubai. I think that is important to say. While they are not perfect, they do take care of the people and want to provide for them. They make mistakes but I can definitely see how human rights and other issues have greatly improved here over the years, while I can't say the same for many other countries. A lot of rulers would just take all the money in order to improve their own life and spend enormous amounts of money, but not take care of their people or infrastructure, just as you mentioned. Another thing people don't see is how much money actually goes for charity here. It is a religious obligation and a cultural habit to give to others. Besides all that I feel like my right is to be protected and safe. Here I can walk around late at night and I feel safe. Even catcalling is against the law and taken seriously, let alone crimes like raping a minor etc., which can even result in capital punishment, rather than registering the person as a sex offender and just releasing them back into society.

The interesting part is that the ones running these companies who break the laws are often expats, who come here and use and abuse these people. There are lots of stories from western countries who also treat their workers from abroad like shit. The practice of taking ones passport from them is illegal here and yet people still do it and threaten their employees that they will lose their job if they report them. Many people are desperate to have a job and are terrified of losing it, so they put up with anything.

I have a roof over my head, bedrooms, a bookshelf library, a toilet, a backyard, a big screen for movies, a car, a yard I have to mow, a dishwasher, washing machine with dryer, an above ground pool. The only thing I don't have is someone paying my bills and a guest house for my relatives. So, we have a similar lifestyle. So, WTF, and who cares.

We used to pass through their Zabeel Palace for offering our Friday prayers in their Mosque. Sometimes, the royal family members also used to come to the Mosque without any security or protocol. When I first saw his son’s face, I saw goodness in his face. Then you shared about all his philanthropy and other stuff, and yeah, he is an ok guy, but the tacky gold cars, maybe he’ll grow out of that... it’s absolutely amazing what the Sheik has accomplished in Dubai. I personally don’t like overdevelopment, but it is fascinating how he’s grown and maintained that City, the “Miami” of the Middle East without the crime.

You'd appreciate it more when you know Dubai has no oil. Yes, that's right, no oil at all. But Nigeria has. Iraq has , Iran has and many other non Arab Gulf States have, and they're starving! Dubai has clean potable water (using tens of desalination plants) without having rivers like Iraq. Dubai consumes electricity probably many times more than Iraq and Iran each with no recorded power cuts and blackouts. Iran does, Iraq does on a daily basis.

Don't talk crap you moron.. Dubai as part of the UAE and UAE has a lot of oil. Dubai also built most of these things on a credit card. In other words, they used borrowed money.
I think that is important to say. While they are not perfect, they do take care of the people and want to provide for them. They make mistakes but I can definitely see how human rights and other issues have greatly improved here over the years, while I can't say the same for many other countries. A lot of rulers would just take all the money in order to improve their own life and spend enormous amounts of money, but not take care of their people or infrastructure, just as you mentioned. Another thing people don't see is how much money actually goes for charity here. It is a religious obligation and a cultural habit to give to others. Besides all that I feel like my right is to be protected and safe. Here I can walk around late at night and I feel safe. Even catcalling is against the law and taken seriously, let alone crimes like raping a minor etc., which can even result in capital punishment, rather than registering the person as a sex offender and just releasing them back into society.
Are you kidding, they treat their construction workers like dirt. It's blood money that is helping his people. These people are really looked down on. The west laughs at their way of life.
@@Sam-mk1kt as i said - it is not perfect. A lot has been done tho in order to change the laws and protect the workers better in the past years. The interesting part is that the ones running these companies who break the laws are often expats, who come here and use and abuse these people. There are lots of stories from western countries who also treat their workers from abroad like shit. The practice of taking ones passport from them is illegal here and yet people still do it and threaten their employees that they will lose their job if they report them. Many people are desperate to have a job and are terrified of losing it, so they put up with anything.
