What helped me greatly with my listening skills in French or any other language (I don't know if it's well known or not) is the exercise, where you pause and re-play the phrase as many times as needed in order to write the sentence to the best of your abilities. Then you will see the sentence itself and you correct your version (and can even rate yourself from 1-10 to motivate yourself). You will eventually get so much better because you will recognize the particular words better since you already heard them couple of times. This exercise just helps you with your concentration I guess.

this is really great thank you only one thing that is odd. the man's voice in French is soft and very easy to follow - thank you so much. however the woman's voice in English is quite loud and shrill - it hurts my ears to listen to the female voice.

This is definitely an excellent tool to practice listening skills, but even for someone like myself who has reached intermediate level, I found it quite challenging. Imagine a French native speaking way much faster during conversations, it would be quite impossible to understand. I think it would be much better to choose phrases or conversations pertaining to everyday life, like dining in restaurants, shopping, travelling etc because that’s what most people need if they travel to a French speaking country for leisure. I appreciate very much for your efforts though.........

This is a fantastic resource. Much appreciated. Students of French may wish to note that many of the phrases here use the passé simple. This is actually used very rarely in spoken French, so these recordings may be more suited to people moving to levels c1/2.

A great resource for learning with one major flaw: the computer generated English voice is unbearable. There are so many nice options. This one is awful, the voice, the accent. I brace myself for pain every time she is about to come on. Everything else is really good. An excellent format.

It would be even better if you did not have the American English translation after each phrase. Just writing the translation is good enough ! Besides, the English voice is louder than the French voice, which is very annoying. To be completely honest, the American voice has such an annoying twang, that I wish we had the option to turn it off. The American twang is so bothersome, sometimes it sounds like scratching finger nails on a black board. Please consider making a version where the American English translation can be completely turned off ! Please ? Aside from that annoyance, this video of French phrases is very helpful and just what I need to help me progress in spoken French. If you need to have an English voice as well, please make it softer, with less of a regional twang in the accent. Another option would be to use a mild British accent, but also not as loud as this American voice sounds. This makes American English so annoying to listen to. I’d love to discuss this further, if you are interested. Thank you for reading my comment. Have a good day!
