I snagged one for 359 from fender over black friday. What a great guitar. The neck alone is worth the money. If you missed the same it'll be Beck for Xmas.
I have the vintage edition of the 40th anniversary telecasters. The neck and everything on it are fantastic. Though the neck pickup is a tiny bit muted. Loved it so much over all I bought two more.
I have a red one. Instead of changing the pups, just take the neck pick up out of the tone circuit to cure the muddiness. I like my 40th anniversary squier a lot.
I have to say that’s a beautiful guitar and sounds amazing in your very capable hands. Loved the song, so nice to start my day!Fender put a lot of premium features here ✌️🤩👍🎸
Hi Jon, I agree that Squire makes very good guitars at an affordable price. I own several Fender Strats, not very expensive, like a Hank Marvin Signature, a Player and 2 MIMs, also 2 Classic Vibe 50s, a 60s and a Simon Neil. I have always been inclined towards Strats, but I wanted to try the Teles and I bought a Classic Vibe Telecaster 60s Custom, and I was about to buy the 50s one, but when I saw your video, your way of playing blew my mind, and with the sight of that guitar, as I have no doubts about the brand, I decided to buy one just like it. I couldn't find a new one and I got a used one. The seller assures me that it is semi-new and it will arrive in 3 days. I will comment as soon as I receive it. Best regards from Mexico.
Great review and great playing as always my friend. It is odd that this video came up today, I just found one of these Telecasters earlier today and will be picking it up Saturday. Yes I might consider changing pickups to a set of Seymout Duncan. Have a wonderful day and keep forever playing music.
Jon, you produce the best review show there is. your a great guy, your playing ability is off the chart and we can here every tone clearly. what amp and pedals do you use for the show. very sweet and soul full. be blessed.
Wow. Bit late to the party with watching this one. But made my day. Some very emotional playing on a great sounding guitar by an inspirational guy.. wonderful Jon. Catch you at the next live chat and I promise to be on time 😂😂
You absolutely Rock Jon, wow, if I could learn how to play half as good as you I would be Golden. Been thinking about which tele to get and I think hearing you play it just helped me make my decision. Thanks man, your a Rockstar in my book, but by the sound of your playing, you might really be a rockstar so forgive me if I'm nit familiar as I'm new to guitars. 👑❤️🙏🏽✌🏽
Guitar Master Jon. As usual those melodies that flow from your soul are like the melodies that i hear in my head! And most times they wake me up and i go to the computer and record them before the dream escapes. Bluesy and spacey, most beautiful licks i have ever heard. As far as the guitar, you were spot on with your review on this wonderfully crafted instrument and i don't care where it was made! Master craftsmanship is not exclusive to any one country. As with your assessment of the pickups, I totally agree with you, they are not the best as far as clearity and volume. So i did order some better ones. Thank you so much for your review and sharing your knowledge with us. You are much appreciated!
after seeing this review i said to myself, no way this is still in stock, i go on thomann, and its literally the only 40th anni model of the Telecaster they had left and not only that but also at a reduced price at 330 euros and not a B-stock, either not that i would had minded if it was B-stock in all fairness. I couldnt resist buying it, thanks for the amazing review of this beautiful guitar Jon.
This is actually my first electric guitar that I ever bought, I love it, still learning how to play on both acoustic and electric, but the aesthetics were too nice, and when I purchased it fender was having a 40% off sale, so I got it for 349, I could not pass up on the price and it plays beautifully.
Hey Jon, I'm looking to get one of these 40th Anniversary editions, I already have a Fender American Stratocaster, so I'm still considering the Tele and the Jazzmaster, what would be the best bet? :D
Thanks for the great video, Sir. One of my guitars is a very nice Squire Tele, that I bought for $250!. Not as beautiful as yours there, but it sounds great. I'm a dual coil guy generally, but for $250, just amazing.
Hi Jonathan. I love the way you play. And demo your guitars. I have acquired more Harley Bentons. So much so that Mary begged me to quit. I caved in and agreed with her.
Always great demos! That Tele is beautiful! The only thing that worries me is the headstock finish. I had a black Squier CV 70s Stratocaster with that glossy headstock, and the headstock finish was very brittle. Out of nowhere, there were cracks. I'm pretty soft-handed with my instruments too. So, for now, I went with the satin vintage Tele 40th anniversary model.
Thanks for the excellent demo and review! I mostly agree with your assessment of this guitar. In my experience, right out of the box, it was stunning visually, ready to play, and just needed minor intonation and a little lower action for my preference. The bridge pickup was great, but the neck pickup was not just "warm" but I found it to be muddy. Both pickups, as you mentioned, are fairly low output. I had this guitar for a year, and played it enough to get a good sense of it. I decided to sell it, because in my estimation, it didn't sound as good as the $150 Squier Bullet Telecaster that I have. It is quite beautiful to look at, though, and it was comfortable to play, but when you have LOTS of guitars, like I do, some don't get played enough. After a year of trying it out, I realized it was never going to be a go-to guitar, so it had to…go!
Just a small note of correction, technically the first instruments to bear the Squier name were made in the 1890s as Jerome and his son Victor Squier were famous fiddlemakers long before the company was sold to Fender. The 40th anniversary refers only to Squier as a guitar manufacturer.
Like i said once before, you make every guitar sound like royalty, ... but this one, fair to say sounds indeed like Gold 🎶👌💖 ... but a block inlay on a Telecaster? 🤔 ... 🤣🤗😏
Great tone for an inexpensive guitar, relatively speaking. There is a pronounced hum when you switched to the bridge. Do you think you swap out the pick ups for the Fender Noiseless? Beautiful guitar overall. As per usual, great playing Brother Jon! Coram Deo
I'm in the market for a Tele, would you recommend this guitar over a T7? It sound's extremely thin to my ears, but I'm not really a Tele player maybe it's supposed to sound a bit thin like this?
Love your playing! I would love one of these, but I'm so iffy about the hardware quality and QAing that comes with these squires. I love their style but know it'd be a much better investment to get something like a Sire T series or a g & l model.
Good. As always. John, I'm sorry for the question. But I really want to know from you what kind of chain of effects you are building on your Helix. I really like your light booster sound.
I ordered the green one from Thomann and i have to say that was the last time buying a guitar from there. The guitar came with a big cut on the binding next to the 4th fret. Probably done by a screwdriver. I just wonder, Thomann is checking the guitars before sending them? It is very disappointing if fender put them in boxes in such condition. Furthermore i have to ad that compared to the Classic vibe series, the specific one felt more cheap in my hands.
Good Video. I just bought that exact model, at a very nice discount from Sweetwater in DEC, at $360 total price, $240 OFF. NO brainer! Quick Question ---- what is the red device that you have on or near the first fret while you are using a Slide? Thanks....OH, the reason I bought it was that I ordered a Certano G & B Bender for it, and it's now with a Luthier for installation of that device!
There`s nothing affordable about these 40th Anniversay Squiers. They cost more than the Mexican Fenders used to cost just a few years back and they have the same terribe electronics in them as the Bullets and the Affinities and I belive the same pickups as the Classic Vibes. They seem like fine guitars but at this price there are much better options like the Sires, Harley Benton Fusion or EART or just save a bit more and buy a Mexican Fender with better hardware.
Squier keeps squeaking their prices up, but they’re not moving the quality as much as the price in the same direction. For another $150 you can just buy the actual Fender or grab a used Fender Tellie for even less in excellent condition.
