    Weird question I know, will vegetables like cauliflower and carrots go *very* soft with more cooking time in the instant pot? Like fall apart when you go to put a fork in them soft? I have major digestive disorders and am on a very restrictive diet. It takes hours to cook carrots to get them soft enough and I have been wondering if an instant pot would save a lot of time (and the smells that xause such bad nausea for me). But I have been hesitant to spend the money if it won't make items like vegetables super soft. (I can't eat meat, so would miss many of the other amazing recipes that look so delicious!) Any info would be appreciated. It's never the goal in cooking to have things that soft so it can be hard to find that kind of information but much appreciated if anyone answers! :)

    • @julieuhha
      @julieuhha 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely! Back when my dad was having major dental problems and was in the process of replacing all his teeth with implants, the process restricted his diet drastically. He could only have the softest of foods, so, together, we quickly learned an instant pot would be the answer. It WILL turn any food into mush, but surprisingly it retained most of the taste, which made the food that much more enjoyable for him.

    • @julieuhha
      @julieuhha 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, forgot to add. Instant pot does cut down on the cooking time.. more significantly on vegetables than meats. Depending on what you’re cooking, it does emit smells sometimes.

    • @AnnieThyme
      @AnnieThyme 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      julie xoxo Thanks so much Julie, this is really helpful to hear :) (and for the info about the smells- some were saying none, but I figured that might not be 100%, but it would at least cut back on the amount of time it was around) thanks for answering- it does help me out a lot. x

    • @Scoop2992
      @Scoop2992 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Annie, the IP will definitely cook the vegetables quickly and to whatever doneness you want. I just cooked enough frozen broccoli for me on 4 minutes with a natural release. It was almost mushy and too done for me, but sounds like it may be perfect for you. There was a little smell when cooking , but not much. If you have a hood over your stove that vents outside, you may want to put your IP under that for cooking. I place the pot on my stovetop (remember not to turn on your burners) and turn on my fan when venting the IP. I did cook a pot roast and added sweet potatoes and they cooked down to nothing, there were no pieces, just mush. I had cooked them too long. One other note, I used a steamer basket in my IP for my broccoli. The super thing about wanting extra done vegetables in the IP vs the microwave, they do not get dark edges in the IP, they cook fast and they don't get steam and water vapor inside your microwave.

    • @AnnieThyme
      @AnnieThyme 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Neil Dominy thanks so much Neil :) the detailed information is much appreciated and very helpful. It sounds like it would be really helpful for me (and those helping me cook) to get an Instant Pot.
      I hope you get perfect potatoes and broccoli next time you cook but... I'm glad you didn't at one time as it really was helpful information for me. Thanks so much for answering, I hope you're having a good week! :)
