Title may not see fitting. But what I got out of this was meta-traits of a 21st C Leader: 1. Ability to reframe our perspectives and see deeper meanings from surface 2. Visionary - ability to see the world and conjure new imaginations on what is possible 3. Courage to be able to make the vision work and become reality 4. Ability to see and bring out the potential in those around you 5. Ability to create a sense of ownership and inspire personal leadership 6. Ability to handle criticism or critique 7. Ability to identify and focus on what is important and cut out the trivial or mediocre 8. Surrounded or supported by people 9. Leaders are those who will find windows of opportunities and make opportunities or ideas happen 10. Leaders are those who are courageous enough to pursue those eureka moments
Love the "Never delegate understanding" quote. Boom!! Context matters. Sense-making matters. His later quote "Design is about helping human beings understand cause, consequence, and possibility." is also quite interesting.
Good question. His overall mission and purpose seems to be that design helps us problem solve in helpful ways in the 21st Century. The inferred argument deals with the importance of context and systems. Another inference is that we need to see beyond current bureaucratic models of school and other orgs as well, to create better, more human paradigms, which help us deal with the problems of the 21st Century.

He was my favorite speaker!
This is encouraging. I am still waiting to do that which I was born to do. Blessings to you all. Merry Christmas
It's a great presentation, but I'm confused how this ties to 21st Century Leadership

very impressive but the title has no relation to the content; probably a technical mistake

Good talk, but this must be the most misleading title for a TED talk ever.
very impressive communicator, thanks
Should not be titled 21st century leadership
There are two answers above which help unpack this mystery or confusion. I hope they help.
Mr Miyagi
This guy is a pure BS. I'll fire him before he even steps in my office really.
