I hope they do, considering the fact when you go to the wishing place it will say "Grow my fantasy pet" which kind of signifies that more fantasy pets will come. I hope dragons come, it makes total sense since it's year of the dragon. Perhaps we'll see them later this month, or we won't.

Another thing to mention is Feral. It’s not the biggest point but it’s worth mentioning. I’m thinking that Wildworks wants to bring Feral animals to Animal Jam to make up for it shutting down. After like five minutes of research (lol), I saw that Animal Jam unicorns are very similar to Feral unicorns/kirins, so if they add dragons, they might look similar to the ones that were in Feral! Who knows though :p

I’m thinking that they potentially planned on bringing dragons but couldn’t decide on a design. After all, eastern and western dragons are very different. Would they have to release multiple dragons? Multiple models? Would lunar new year celebrators be mad if they brought more western looking dragon? I think with the new wishing pond dragons will definitely come eventually, but there’s a lot to consider when you talk about dragons.

Considering the sheer, extreme popularity of dragons, I feel like it would be silly of them to have a system for mythical animals already set up and _not_ add dragons at some point.
Also, it's funny how I just started playing abit under a month ago and the first true new (not reskin) animal they're adding is the duck.

i think since unicorns came out after all crystal pieces were discovered, they were going to release dragons after phantomite was all collected but it took longer than expected? they’re going to come for sure

I’ve been waiting dragons from the beginning! Ever since the dragon items were introduced in AJ it got me hoping! Then with unicorns I got my hopes up a ton just to get let down! I hope it’s just due to delays in making them happen….

The fact that Nat Geo no longer supports this game which they would focus on real animals so who now who ever supports this game could have gone to fantasy creatures just like you explained about Unicorn.

as you say it takes a long time to make an animal. so maybe they are busy with duck and couldn't finish the dragon so maybe it will come soon
Yea, I agree with you 100%. They should've added them. I'm very disappointed in aj for not adding dragons. Part of me just wants to quit the game 😥
I’m hoping we see different styles. A comment previously mentioned this, so credit to them, but I think they’re working on the assets for different types. Maybe they’re working different body types, eye types, whiskers, or even adding fur to the dragon. They could also be planning something different that the playerbase has been asking for, such as things from Classic or other features. Of course, hope in AJ for me personally isn’t very high, but I’m willing to bet that they’re making the models more polished and adding more assets to stay true to the customization feature and outdo themselves. We also should keep in mind that AJ tries to appeal to kids. Because some of its older players are asking for dragons, maybe they weren’t actually planning it, and it was just a one-time thing for unicorns.
Leamonpuppy, it's prob cus they have dinosaurs, komodo dragons, and ancient dragon set. IF you have komodo dragon AND ancient dragon set
You can wear the ancient dragon set on your komodo dragon too make it look like a dragon. it can be becuase lots of updates are coming too animal jam,

welp at least they brought back Komodo dragons, in which I've wanted for a very long time, too AJHQ is working hard to bring new animals so modeling a dragon will be extremely difficult with having to add every little detail. ( i just wanted to share my opinion, I don't intend to be negative )
There was also a dragon coming out of a closet thing in the crafting lab.
I think that its still possible, maybe later on, It took them quite a long time making the unicorns and patiently designing them so they would look good. If they spend like 1 update ampunt of time trying to design dragons, didnt have it ready, rushed it, and then released a very bad modeled dragon a lot of people would be disappointed anyways. The more time Aj spends on making their animals the btter they usually turn out! :) but there has been some creepy and weird looking animal models before
aj also gave hints like dragons were going to come with the replies they gave to people asking about them on instagram. they would respond in ways that made it seem like they were coming but now it feels they are ignoring peoples messages about dragons all together?

I found a leak by somebody I don’t know who it was but it was on how to open the portals so MAYBE they are adding adventures or, since in the concept art the portals are open, they are working on lands the 3 portals lead too. Also in the old treasure hunt map on ajpw there is a crystal area in the topmost left corner and there is a crystal background on the unicorns just like dinos have a messoterra background, maybe they are making that area from the old treasure hunt map since it is COVERED in crystals. Maybe it could possibly be ajpws adventure base camp?
I know this isn't the dragon topic, but I know Mallards are coming to animal jam, I guess I asked for a regular domestic cat and a duck, I guess animal jam listened to me.
They dropped hints at bringing a duck this upcoming month so I've seen on their Instagram and also on other peoples social medias, I think they had complications with dragon designs or maybe some technical issue with them, who knows, but hopefully there will be dragons sometime this year!
Haha I just saw the ending, but yeah, I hope they are working on land, or maybe under water worlds, it's high expectations, but hey, who can't hope

Pretty late but with my research into how the unity engine works, and going off of the pattern Wildworks has been doing with new animal releases compared to old ones, there's a possibility that the dragons just need more time. Also the reskin argument about how we've had 4 months of reskins for only for no dragons doesn't really work since the unicorns came out in December. Speaking of the unicorns, unlike most animal models they have randomized body features. With some animals released recently like the cows and asiatic lions, you can turn on and off certain details on the model to make them more customizable and gender specific, but the unicorns are different. They can have different manes, different tails, different horns, and effects on either just their manes and tails or on their whole body. This is important because there are two different well known kinds of dragons. Eastern and Western dragons are both very different, and Wildworks would not be doing cultures of either regions justice by only adding one and not adding the other. They could be experimenting with making body types something that can also be randomized, as that is the only detail on the unicorns that does not change if you don't include sizes. On the other hand, they could be adding both kinds of dragons as separate animals to wish for. They've been more specific with things like patterns, gender differences, and species with recent animal releases. So there's a possibility they will release two dragons and call them Eastern and Western dragons.
Either way, I'm not going to rule out dragons completely. WIldworks has a smaller team than it used to, and if they are going in this direction it makes sense that things get delayed and bigger projects will take more time. I'm sure that they had Peck hint at dragons because A, they thought they'd be released sooner but had to delay them or B, they thought it would be a missed opportunity to not mention dragons at all. This was probably their way of saying "We hear you and we're working on it" without directly saying it, since when it comes to developing new things for online games, or games in general, you're not allowed to talk about what's being worked on specifically unless told otherwise. Though leaks can generate more hype, they can also set unrealistic expectations and practically ruin the release of new features because of things needing to be changed or removed for any reason. Development could also be struggling right now and talking about the dragons at all could reveal that they're nowhere near done yet, and that would only make people angrier.
Maybe they already work on it but adding new features plus fixing errors when testing takes a lot of time. The more complex a game gets the more complex and time consuming is developing and adding new updates/features.

I feel like dragons would be quite big of an addition, im suprised we could even become phantoms, or even unicorns, or dinosuars. Im just sticking to the old lore, but im not sure if any of those were connected to the lore either, like youd think a sign that dragons exsusted would pop up in the lore somewhere, but im just thinking if of aj classic and adventure stuff.

I don’t think dragons will ever come to Aj because the people that can afford to buy wishing coins so they can get dragons will bully the crap out of people who can’t afford/choose to buy the Komodo instead
They will probably be like “Imao, imagine being too broke to get a dragon” or “Um actually your animal is not a real dragon because (Insert a stupid reason to gatekeep you from being a dragon)”
Also I think it’s redundant to bring back the Komodo Dragon if Dragons already came out during February

I was preparing for dragons on the game I wish i waited so I did not have to waste saphires.
Honestly i thought dragons were gonna come way back when the snake was announced and they dropped a teaser of reptile skin and tbh i think these new developers are ruining animal jam, like why is it that they bring reskins? The old developers never brought reskins, theh alaays came up auth creative itemsm dens and animals but why these developers. Dont get me wrong i love aj i rlly do but i dont see a future in the game if the developers dont change their plans, players are going to get bored of reskins and animal duplicates so i really hope the developers are getting a hint, because if theyre gonna stay oblivious and ignorant idk if i wanna stick around for boring updates

The wish token system is such a scam. It makes me sad knowing all mythical creatures that come to the game will most likely be locked behind the token paywall. They are not worth it for the price and randomly generated colors. No matter how cool the creature is.

I think its a very dumb decision that Animal Jam didn't add dragons this month. Not only are dragons like one of the most popular fantasy animals to ever exist, they are being bad at business. Why do I say this? Well the combination of several things. One is I've noticed a lot or people hosting Wings Of Fire roleplays lately, aka one of the most popular book series I know of besides the Warrior Cats series. Second Is that of course it's year of the dragon! People all over the world celebrate the Chinese Zodiac! For anyone born in year of the dragon it would have been the perfect birthday gift for Animal Jam to create for them! As much as I despise the pay wall the wishing well currently uses, adding the dragon to the wishing well would have made them bank this month! They would have made so much money this month that they probably could work on those other projects they have with an even bigger budget! This is why I have begun to question Animal Jams leadership. If all they do is keep adding reskins and altered models, they will start losing a lot of players because they'll realize that Animal Jam is starting to fall into the same massive problem that Animal Jam Classic currently has. Which is that nothing new is being truly added. I'm not sure if other people see this issue but it makes me seriously worry about the future of Animal Jam. I know this is a super long comment but I felt that all this just had to be said.
