Well, I guess I'll be the critical one here. This guide isn't even a guide. It's just like any other video but with more games.
He explains only some of his plays while many are there for the viewer to guess why he does them. Admittedly, there are some things which are more difficult to teach as they are more skill based than knowledge based, like counting elixir, counting cards and making predictions. However, he still could've explained what some goals are, like keeping princesses alive, baiting the log with different cards, outcycling, defense setups, best first plays, when to spell cycle, countering different archetypes or decks, etc.
Out of topic.. i’m new to the game .. i know about the card rotations but i have a doubt.. do you guys remember the cycle of all 8 cards ? For example you’re playing logbait and the opponent is a giant graveyard player.. so at this situation do you remember all of the cycle of 8 cards or do you just remember the annoying cards such as zappies for your mighty M and snowball and arrows for barrel? I’m asking this because i find it difficult to remember the cycle of every card
@@yeribananarotis7666 The more you can remember the better. I personally cannot remember more than 2 cards, so I always try to keep track of the more important cards, which are usually their win condition and their main counter to my win condition.

@@yeribananarotis7666m an og player and I can tell you that all you need to keep in mind is their win condition and their counter. If you could recognize when your opponent is low in elixir, that would be very helpful. So to predict something just remember the annoying cards they have in hand.

it wasnt risky at all, just the perfect play, he had the lightning hovering, and when he saw the princess in the middle on the bandit he just dropped it coz why else would you sac a princess to a bandit?
@Starliaghtsz is still a really good play that you can only pull off against someone you face pretty often
Its just a play you can do to proplayers cuz 6k noobs would eiher not know how to aktivate king of a bandit or failed anyway
@@Moritz___ yeah I mean pros just play each other differently, ryley is constantly predicting predictions and all… also it’s kinda funny sometimes cause Eragon will be playing a mid ladder player and be like “he must’ve played that to predict my Xbow” but it’s just a bad player and he doesn’t get it 😂

It wasn’t much of a “guide”…. It’s just a longer typical vid. Sure you make predictions and you certainly pat your own back after good plays, but how can lesser players learn enough to improve? I was really looking forward to your thoughts of troop placement, pressure vs defensive scenarios, when to bleed Elixir and getting your card cycle right. THAT would have been helpful imo.

The way to learn to play cr competitively is to analyze a match against a specific matchup. There’s no general rule that leads to success it’s matchup specific.
I love Riley's content but this is not a guide, just a longer video. For being a guide you have to show a lot of matches that are missing and the most important thing, to be precise when explaining what you have to do in order to win. A lot of explanation is missing here, as I said, just a normal video but 1hour of it.

Not really the best matchup guide imo. There are a few really key matchups to know that Ryley didn’t even put in this video. Such as RG, 3.0, Golem PUMP (a matchup thats played alot differently than the golem NW matchup), and lumberloon freeze. Disregarding all that, i think a more in depth explanation of how to win the matchup is necessary. But besides that I think this will still help a ton for a lot of players looking to improve.

Hope you could do a guide consisting of multiple games for each hard counter, and some common meta decks. It would showcase variety of defensive approaches and strategies for each. one winning game against one specific deck doesn't teach much. I lose against same decks over and over. most of us watching for tips and guidance from you. It would be awesome if there was "how to counter recruits/flying machine etc" like 4-5 games with tips on what to do and what not to do. i think it's enough to show multitude of variations for each counter.

awesome guide Ryley. you should make a chart to explain how you guess people's decks including variants. For example, if you see valk + miner it's miner poison but valk + exe is hognado. I'm not sure how exactly you'd organize it but a flowchart or x and y axes with all the cards might work?

If you do the start of game safe spot barrel, 1 more tile to the outside makes it so they have to delay their tornado, center barb barrel misses a gob or 2 and even early log misses 1 gob.
Also when playing against valk (mainly when opponent is bad) if you get it so valk is their only counter in cycle usually a barrel hugging the back or inside towards their king tower gets a lot of damage since the common valk placements are front and outside 2 gobs.
Last main gob barrel mixup is when you're mixing it up all game, hugging the front of the tower lands earlier than other barrels either for when their elixir is in a pinch, or they'll respond late from pressure or hesitation.
Sometimes you can mixup a bowler, hunter or firecracker in the back with a front barrel but most of the time that wont happen bc princess log kills firecracker, hunter gives rocket value and bowler decks tend to have too many other gob barrel counters to care, sometimes works in balloon freeze after baiting barb barrel though.
Splashyard is cancer so once double starts I wouldn't worry about kingtower activation, 3 goblin stabs from an unexpected mixup is worth it since most of your damage is gonna be other sources.
Splash yard is almost unwinnable. As a logbait turned graveyard player, ready barrels with valk is far too easy.
That barrel placement is also awesome because sometimes they think it’s going to usual spot and tornado instantly, which misses all 3 goblins.

My opinion is thinking takes process and time. The chance will miss if it takes 1 more sec. In this situation it would still be a prediction since it's his muscle memory that dominates the perfect play.
