    This is one of the best breakdancing videos I have seen. Back in my younger days I was really good. To old for it now. I might break something. Almost 54 yrs old. Wish I was young enough to do it again. We used to break it till 3 AM. All fun. no fighting, no drugs, no alcohol, everyone had respect and complemented others...just chilling and dancing.

      I came looking for break dancing from the 80s/90s because of a comment on Facebook. A 58 year old saying Merrick Hanna’s style of dancing/modern dancing was stupid. Lololol like where was that dude? Not at the nightclubs ha my neighbour used to put a collapsed cardboard box on the front lawn to practice for the competitions. And yep, no booze or drugs - no need- the euphoria came from dancing 💃

    if any is interesting or want to know the names of the songs here they are:
    1st. Jam On it - Newcleus
    2nd. Electric Kingdom - Twilight 22
    3rd. Rock the Bells - 'LL Cool J

    • @GenXstacker
      @GenXstacker 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first two I knew, but the last sounded like The Beastie Boys. If that was actually LL Cool J then someone stole that sound. Who did it first, the Beasties or LL? Or did they both steal it from someone else?

    To all you young bucks that continue to keep this dance alive, im proud of you, as an old school breaker its always a pleasure to see the passion and innovation in your moves, keep on breaking my brothers

    • @pedestrianrights1257
      @pedestrianrights1257 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yeah, but i'm worried about some of these head-on-floor moves, they can BREAK YOUR NECK and leave you a quadriplegic for the rest of your miserable life. It's very easy to break the neck. These types of moves should be banned until medical science learns how to repair spinal breaks. Even Olympic Gymnastics has banned many dangerous moves due to gymnasts breaking their necks. Same should be done with break dancing.

    • @kresashadow
      @kresashadow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@pedestrianrights1257 That's why it's called "breakdancing". Break by "breaking your bones" and dancing is just dancing. Breakdancing is a dangerous dance style. But it's worth it. Also, for the head-on-floor moves, you gotta have balance. Always spin on the middle of your head, and wear a beanie or something comfortable, gives you less pain. I, as an 11 year old that breakdances, almost broke my leg, elbow, and knee. Sucks to suck! Still, if you're learning to breakdance, good luck. Never give up, starting is always the hardest in breakdancing, but when you get the flow you should be good!

    • @pedestrianrights1257
      @pedestrianrights1257 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kresashadow "But it's worth it.", the only way y00 have the right to say that is if *Y00* are actually the one taking the risks & doing the dances. If, on the other hand, y00 want OTHER people to do the dance (and get hurt) for Y00r entertainment, then that's just cowardly.

    • @barryschwarz
      @barryschwarz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kresashadow No, it's called breakdancing because in the early days of hip hop DJs like Cool Herc would keep the 'breakbeat' going - the part of the track that emphasised the drums - by mixing records, and he called the kids who went crazy and danced to it 'breakers', or Bboys and Bgirls. There's a bit of jawing over the correct terminology, but this kind of dance is called breaking. 'Breakdance' has a commercial flavour to it, and is used more generally to include popping and locking.

      @@afrohighborn262, don't know how old you are but I came from the generation that put all this on the map. This originated on the streets by African Americans and Latino's and was also used as another form to replace violence, although in many cases some violence still persisted. I am proud to see how much it advanced with some moves I wouldn't had even tried by in the early 80's when I was doing it. But again, it came from the streets and blacks and Latinos created it, now people from all walks of life are doing it. Do not take what we created in discredit any of us who started this, so I'm not sure what you were referring to when you made your comment about only one black guy, but i take it as disrespectful to one of the originators of this craft.

    When breakdancing came to the West coast in the early 80's I got into it and practiced up to 6 hrs a day. I had a ton of trophies/awards. I was one of the best and was in numerous clubs. My crew (Whiteline Breakers) beat the L.A breakers at Knotts Berry Farm in 1984. We were doing wiz-rocks and flares when no one else was.However, these guys would make us look ridiculous! The transitions from flares to glides to head/elbow spins is UNBELEIVABLE! These guys are on a different level. Even their uprocking is technical. Crazy how things progress...

      Personally I think one of the main reasons why breaking stopped in 86 was because of lack of new moves and people got bored of doing and watching the same moves so it got old, no one wanted to dance any more until the new generation took it to a new level, back then I never thought that breakers would be able to do all these continuos moves with this level of difficulty.

      5641616341485 The first kind of jump these guys do is a movement of momentum in the first place, as you see most of them run. Blocking technique, look it up. Second, is pure leg strength, these guys love to jump, it's their hobby, and their passion, also, core strength, the ability to pull themselves into a ball in mid air at the flick of a wrist.
      It all comes with learning flips, and then you know how to jump high.

      Incorrect. It’s all conditioning. The core strength and stamina of these dancers is the impressive part. Extreme core strength isn’t necessarily required in sports like Basketball and Football. These guys would get dusted in aspects like speed and vertical. It’s all conditioning.

    I agree with Kev s. I was also involved when break dancing was just getting started. Rock Steady Crew ruled. I'm old (er) now. I kicked ass back in the day but these guys are beyond ANYTHING we even thought about doing. They are so athletic, gymnastic, and creative. Far above what we did which was innovative at the time. Props to them all and keep rocking. In my opinion Breakdancing should be an Olympic sport.With due respect to gymnasts they have NOTHING on these guys : )

    When Germany started hostin "Battle of the Year" durin the early 90s, b-boyin had become underground and America had pretty much forgotten about it. My kids, who are 5&3, have taken an interest in breakdancing. We watch this video about 24 times a day while they try to emulate the moves. Lol. Gotta be young and STRONG to do this stuff. Amazing.

      +ucheucheuche but olympics has lots of sportsmanship, not of this maximum disrespect dancing in their faces. in other words 2 funky 4 them classy pricks

      Very long time ago, crazy legs tried to get bboying in the Olympics but failed since he said judging would favor style over power, I'm sure if they tried again and said power is greater than style it would be up for discussion. In all of Olympics difficulty of moves wins over creativity, in which bboying works opposite.
