About The Boys Season 3: It's been a year of calm. Homelander's subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. I think homelander likes butcher because he is the only one who has always been honest with him and doesn’t react with fear. When homelander hears butchers heart all he hears is murderous intent.

I think homelander has to actively look and see things, as in he only x-ray visions when he means to. Take for example the scene where Ashley walks into the office. Homelander was preoccupied and not paying attention to his surroundings. Same thing in this scene.

How was this gonna go down? If bringing Soldier Boy was "breaking the deal" and Homelander didn't know about the temp V, how was Butcher supposed to deal with Homelander 1v1? I don't really get what the promise was that they made here.

He definitely knew about Temp V. Also it was just supposed to be him and Butcher fighting not Soldier Boy. Him taking Temp V wouldn’t break the deal but by adding another player it breaks the deal
Homelander seemed mighty surprised that Butcher had powers though.

It wasn’t necessarily indicating a battle of strength, cause Homelander (assuming he was oblivious of butcher taking V) knew he could kill Butcher at any moment. I think it was more a battle of wills. Butcher leading the boys to do whatever bullshit they would and Homelander probably letting it happen whilst he does his own things

Let's say there was somebody more powerful than him somebody who does not want control over the company but in fact wants to destroy the legacy of Frederick Vought and decides to fight homelander to the death grabs homelander from where he's standing fly completely outside the planet and watches homelander suffer with no air and yet the powerful adversary survives? And if that was to happen I wonder if the most powerful adversary would have an absolute pleasure and flying Smackdown to Earth Watching homelander Burn by the atmosphere and then crash-lands in the center of Central Park? He claims to be mr. Invincible because he can fly and do all this other nonsense and yes he is a narcissistic Man Child who is afraid to be defeated by somebody more powerful than him.

So basically homelander respects billy because he’s fearless and is honest with him unlike literally everyone else in the show and he can see your heart if you’re lying or scared well billy doesn’t do either. He’s his rival/friend and he tells him only one can stand hopefully this helps.

The deal was that they'd fight to the death when the time came, because Homelander views Butcher as somewhat equal due to the lack of fear he has for HL
