Wow they are marvellous, sumptuous and perfectly justifiably decadent. I just wish I had half of your talent thank you for showing them. I have just started binge watching your vlogs. I wake up and put you on my tv and I am going to sleep watching it’s fabulous thank you
Stephanie, you are a delightful character so talented and gifted your chateau is magnificent and your father definitely helped you reach your dream. What an amazingly wonderful woman you are. Thank you for sharing your home and talents with the whole world.
So interested to see you took inspiration from Janet Arnold's wonderful Patterns of Fashion! The School of Historical Dress have now released Volume 5, which is grand. I learned about the series from watching the delightful Bernadette Banner's TH-cam channel, which majors on historical sewing, and is highly recomended for inspiration and encouragement. Loving your Sunday Diaries!
Oh my, what a wonderful tour of fashion and style. As I sat here sipping my morning latte, I was taken away from rainy Vancouver to Venice, France, England and magical thinking. Thank you Stephanie. Hats off to your parents who helped you open the doors to your creative lifestyle by giving you just enough to fuel your imagination.
Arrrrrrrh! I loooooved this one. The costumes are beautiful and I was absolutely thrilled to hear all about the history, the process and the final wearing and styling of each one. I was particularly taken with your final comments regarding what we cannot change in life but how the moments in between can be as amazing as you decide to make them. My sentiments entirely. Thank you! :)
I am so impressed by your talents. Your historical costumes are beautiful and your chateau is breath taking as well. I love watching all your videos. They are giving me inspiration to be more creative in my hobbies.
Well, that settles it then, I am going to put Marie Antoinette in the DVD player again. Thanks Stephanie for an extra fun and frivolous vlog this Sunday afternoon. Hmmm, I'm going to need champagne and cake. 😘 🍰🥂🍾🍥🍨🎂
Love the varieties of patterns in this room. The costumes are marvellous.. I watch Bernadette Banner's vlogs for inspirations. I watch your religiously. Thanks so much.
I'm playing 'catch-up' with Chateau Diaries Stephanie...and am absolutely loving the 18th century costumes featured here. Your creativity is an inspiration, and the costume parties a wonderful celebration of life...bon chance!
Fabulous Video Stephanie, And you are so talented. I love your costumes that you have made. And what a great message at the end of your video. Much love❤️
Stephanie what a wonderful Vlog this is and what woman does not want to see the clothes in your closet, my god how talented you are sewing and creating such beautiful clothes, the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle has a wonderful collection of historic costumes reminiscent of yours. A treasure store of everything French and definitely Aristocratic. I love the pink one and laughed at the thought of you having hidden hot water bottles ! You definitely display a love of a hot water bottles and possibly a hip flask of Whisky ! You are the complete picture of style the grey silk dress last shown is absolutely magnificent. Your videos on a Sunday are a treat and we take in your enthusiasm for life and are joyful.
Stephanie, I think with your sewing talent , you should designate one of the many small rooms to display your beautiful dress collection along with your fathers gorgeous, elaborate costume book he gave you
You might like looking at the art of Vigee Le Brun who painted for Marie Antoinette’s court - formal and regal peasant (one of her issues) looks. She escaped early in the revolution and headed to the royal court in Russia. The MET did a beautiful exhibit of her art in 2016 and you might be able to find the catalogue on EBay. She is one of my favorites and brings the women to life.
Your pillows are the presentation of many lovely and co-mingling patterns of sumptuous yumminess, and a delight to see you adding to their beauty coupled with elegance of the lovely patterns you are wearing. Thank you for sharing so much fabrics, and clothing knowledge about history up to the present day with us.
Well Stephanie I amazingly watched the entire video. Why am I surprised? I am a guy who grew up on a farm in the Midwest (USA) and this is NOT the kind of thing I would ever watch BUT you kept me intrigued the entire time. Great vlog!
I love hearing you tell about your passion for so many things, and this Vlog about costume making, the books and movies as references, and the support of your parents in all you do, is the best. I'm interested in knowing more about your mother, how she came to England, how she met Percy and her life. Jerry is another of your extended family who I'm interested in. Doing a piece on Mary, the Norwegian, with so many talents, and Michael with his broad group of talents. A whole program devoted to these key people would be wonderful.
Dangerous liaisons is my all time favourite film and i watch it every year and it always makes me cry. I'm learning French so that I can not only come to France and speak with people, but I also have the book in French nd I want to be able to read it. Love your dress today, and I absolutely adore the toile du jouy peacock cushions, as I have a thing about peacocks!! lots of love xxx
My goodnes! 4:41 💓💓💓💓 Your father is artistic and so does your mother... I love the fact that they bought you a serious sewing machine when you're 17... knowing it as investment. My family isn't easy enough to buy me things, but one thing I thankfully and truly owe them much was when getting a Singer machine, I still use it till now (but adding an electric cable to it). I don't have those amazing books however. I used to be librarian in HS, so I regularly borrowing from municipal's library on my teen
Oh how I loved this❣️ I was the costume mistress for TAMING OF THE SHREW in high school and I loved it. My Grandmere gave me a sewing machine for graduation, (1965) and I still use it. I loved the movie AMADEUS , and I was in theatre in high school too. My 12 year old granddaughter is in musical theater now. Thank you again for making my Sunday so happy❣️
SO nice to hear how many of us girls were given sewing machines in high school that are still our main use machines. This goes with the fur also, since I agree too that what has already been sacrificed and worked into an article of use, not just extravagance can be best managed by not wastefully making it trash or pollution in the earth now by dumping or burning it. I understand people want to potentially get rid of anything to do with a past ideal, but historically it has been proven these are mistakes. The amount of ruined buildings, art, writings, paintings, etc. now lost that have been destroyed simply to destroy something are lost history forever.
wauw U bent een echte ontwerpster ik zou al deze kleding toch ergens gelijk een klein museumpje in jullie kasteel tentoonstellen zo mooi echt prachtig werk
What a talented young lady you are, from someone who took a full term at school to finish a skirt. Thankyou for posting this video and look forward to seeing the next one.
Stephanie, I enjoy your passion for life, for history, your creative talent, and your joy in sharing all with your patrons and subscribers. I also enjoy your overall philosophy of life. The choices you make and your willingness to share your choices with others is so inspirational. Thank you! I struggle with Social media and it’s value. There are so many who use it for less than honorable reasons. But then there are lovely people like you that I never would have had an opportunity to “know” if not for your vlog. I still don’t really. But I value and appreciate you very much. Thank you and all the best to you and your family.
I have just recently discovered your channel and I have spent the last 2 weeks binge watching when I can. This video was right up my alley, I have always loved fairytales and history and wish I could live like that and now I'm living vicariously through you 😆. I've been dead set on making my own historical costume recently and this has given me the push I need to actually start trying! These videos have me dreaming of one day visiting the chateau and meeting y'all ❤
Oh that was wonderful Stephanie. I’m am so amazed by your ability to copy and sew dresses that appear to be quilt difficult. I love that your dad gave you the book of historic costumes. You were truly the apple of his eye. So sweet 🥰
You are so talented. That cape is impressive. My great grandfather was a furrier in Berlin in the 1930s and it sounds like a difficult trade from what my grandmother recounted. Apparently he used every single part of the animals he had including paws to make collars! I would love to find one of his coats but tracking one down seems nigh on impossible.
Ohhh you need to view Outlander, Season 2 Outlander. Costume designer, Trisha Biggar, designed some glorious costumes for the French Court in 1743 or 74. One gown was hand painted for a garden party scene. I understand that she researched the period & had to combine the trends with the main character’s personality. Visual treats!
Loved your costumes! I love the Regency Period and have participated in events in costume-nothing as elegant as your creations however. Yes, it is fun and we all should enjoy life with silly, fun adventures and parties. ~k.
Adorable - I loooovvvveee this one! It's such a perfect idea to have those costume parties at the chateau. And overwhelming your talent to sew this amazing costumes - WOW! Made my Day! ❤️😍😉😘
Beautiful cushions in your Boudoir Stephanie 🦚🦚. Thank you yet again, for an interesting and enjoyable vlog. You truly are a lady with many talents. Those costumes are amazing and the attention to detail makes all the difference. You look radiant in your yellow dress 💛 🌸. Bringing much joy to la Lande and all who visit I am sure. Blessed to be living your Fairytale 🏰. Thank you for including us. Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
Well done, Stephanie .... loved this video and seeing your artistic results. You are really an amazing seamstress. I am constantly amazed by you and your super interesting life. Thank you for another wonderful visit with you and Chateau De La Lande.

Absolutely adore the dancing and programs you have with the costumes though and look forward to seeing more. Enjoyed the one with Selmer teaching the Tango. Everyone did so well and seem to enjoy the dancing,
Hello Stephanie! I also make historic costumes! The 18th century, particularly French dresses and hats. I am surprised there is someone with my same interests! I also love French porcelaines and English china.
Adore your dresses.. made a Victorian one once.. with a great big bustle.. lots of fun.. why is it, that they do make us feel so feminine and beautiful.. ..and in a dreamy way..it would be lovely to wear such wonderful dresses.. except when I'm gardening.. or on my bicycle.. or working out.. or . . ...etc.. lol
Such a beautiful sentiment to end on. I've stumbled across your channel and have been watching a lot of your vlogs while in isolation in Australia; it's a nice reminder to really treasure the moments with friends and family x

I saw that wonderful book of the history of costumes. I had to have that book, so i ordered it the minute i finished watching your story!! Would it be possible to tour your library and your all-time favourite books? Every time you reference a book, i am always so enchanted by it!!!

I just love the conclusion you give us in the ending about magical moments. Very inspiring and uplifting 🌷🌷🌷
I could happily live in this😁🌷👍
- Now you could learn baroque dance, which is very enjoyable.
- love the pink dress!
Bravo. Love what you said at the end about making life as magical as possible 💕
Beautifull AND magical!
Steph, I'll never forget the fantastic tapestry coat you made and would love to hear more about that too! Lovely creative spirit! -- Stephie McCarthy
