Yamato using AA shells on its guns was not really effective, they were actually used to make the pilots shake and hesitate under the stress of the Yamato's gun sounds and the shells flying near them which lowered their chances of hitting Yamato.
Pretty sure if it was close enough, the stress on the wing created from the air being pushed out of the shells path could've ripped the wing off, I might be wrong

She did far better than any other could have hoped to in the situation. Her final though, of home. If her sacrifice was enough.

The resulting mushroom cloud was seen from mainland Japan, an eerie foreshadow for what would happen at the end of the war...

ちなみに、大和(Yamatoの日本語の漢字方)の最後は左から段々傾斜していき、最終的にひっくり返ってから沈没ではなく艦首から左に傾斜しながら沈んでいきました
弾薬庫が沈んだ瞬間に爆発して、船体が割れている用に表現していますが実際は左にやや傾斜していたので本当は煙突が海面に入った瞬間に蒸発をして大爆発を起こしましたそのためあの大きい煙ができたのです
もし海水で爆発したら煙はでないだろうからね
海水に触れて爆発した後割れた船体は沈んでそこから煙突の爆発と共に数分後に弾薬庫も爆発したよ
